Professional operating through and through. This place has everything you need for a fantastic stay in Chachapoyas. The location is perfect for walking to absolutely everything you need. The beds are actually comfortable! They arrange tours everyday that you can easily book right there at the reception. But all else considered what sets this place apart from a lot of the hostels I have stayed at is the exceptional service. The owner Dona is an experienced, professional, helpful, admirable woman. Every time we would arrive in her hostel she would, without exception, greet us by our first name and ask how we were doing. Look no further for a place in Chachapoyas.

Jose (the owner) and his partner (Dona) are amazing and very friendly. The hostel is clean and has a kitchen. There aren't really enough showers for all the rooms. On our floor of around 10 beds, there were 2 showers. That being said, they offer great tours that are better for your time and money than other places and we booked all our tours with them and were extremely satisfied with the guides and itinerary.

Good location. Lovey soundings. Everything is close by. Breakfast is just okay.
If you are light sleeper, this not the hotel for you. We could hear music until 3:30am and we could hear everything the guests adjacent to us were talking about.
I wouldn't stay here again.

We spent a week here as we explored the Chachapoyas area (Gocta, Yumbilla, Kuelap, Levanto Inca trail, and Mirador del Sonche & HuacaUrco, then Leymebamba). The rooms and bathrooms are clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, although new (flat) pans would be nice, and an actual sponge would make a big difference. The highlight for us, was the staff and specifically the owner, Jose. He answered dozens of our questions we had about how we could get to all the sites by ourselves, what to expect, what to pay, and how much time would be needed. He also had great recommendations for activities and can tell you about which restaurants to go to as well. Jose, who speaks fluent english, used to be a guide, and he loves the outdoors, so if you are the same, then this is the place for you. As the location is quite central there is some noise from nearby establishments on the weekends, but on the weekdays there is no problem. The hostel runs its own tours as well, and we regret not taking their Kuelap tour, as there is not much info available at the site itself, so a guide would be a good value add. This is one of the cheaper places in Chacha, and is hands down one of the best value places we have stayed at in over a year and three months of Latin American travel. Highly recommend.

A pleasant atmosphere in our jungle… Good service and comfortable rooms.

We were lucky to find this hostel right away, as it turned out to be a great place to stay during out visit to Chachapoyas. The staff at the desk was very helpful with any questions we had about trips or exchanging money. Rooms were clean and the beds comfy. The showers are hot if you keep the water pressure low as well. We didnt get to use it, but they also had a full kitchen available. The laundry service was also excellent!

Good beds but: cold damp rooms (my towels were wet for two days, I got sick and the "open" shape of the hostel was a factor), problematic hot water (those electric shower heads, one drop scalding hot, two drops freezing), lots of stairs and spotty Wi-Fi (and no, is not a wide Chachapoyas thing, I saw high speeds elsewhere). Is a delivery system for daily guided tours. Was not my cup of tea. Felt as if they were doing me favors (and I'm the damn client). Anything is covered by "we're cheap". That's not my problem. Any foreigner that decides to invest in a real hostel in Chacha will destroy the competition. One star for other travellers and one because owner was helpful when asked.

When visiting Chachapoyas, nothing better for a pleasant rest and excellent attention at Hotel Pumaurco. I recommend them.

The place is very comfortable and cozy! José who is the owner and responsible of the place is a very attentive person. I totally recommend this accommodation.

Ok place. Clean and well located. Staff are helpful. The communal kitchen is quite small and they just have 1 fork, unhelpful if you are a group of people. They have a few bathrooms but just one in the first floor with hot shower. Good point: they gave us clean towels. You have to pay 5 soles if you want to use the shower after the check-out. Rhere is a bakery called Sant Jose a few streets down with delicious bread and pastries you can take away every morning for your breakfast.

Good value for money, too bad there is no breakfast. The toilets are very clean and the water is hot with good pressure. By cons kitchen with almost no equipment and Wi-Fi which works very poorly. The excursions offered are to be done!

Great hostel, owned by a multi-lingual former guide. Great advice, helps with tours. Good kitchen and hot showers too.

Good hotel, good service and budget.

It's an excellent hostel. It's probably one of the best in Peru.

The dormitories are clean and although the beds are rather tight to each other, we sleep very well. Atmosphere between the travelers very friendly. The Manager and the women of household are adorable, always there to help you.

Excellent service. Jose and Dona the owners make you feel at home and in family.

All well and good, the care and services okay. A very cosy hotel and nice. Nor what to say of their cute little balconies to view a spectacular sunrise and a good photo.

Great priced hostel in Chachapoyas with clean and comfortable beds and a helpful owner. The staff know all the best ways to get around this area of Peru and are incredibly friendly.

The location is excellent. It's very close to the center of town and within walking distance of everything you'll need. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. This has to be one of the cleanest hostels I've been to; the staff was cleaning the entire day. The rooms are spacious and the area is quiet.

The hostel is ok, it's big, many rooms but a common kitchen. The staff is really nice and helpful. There is no really chilling place. Rooms are clean and good beds. Problems are: the showers are not very good, either low throughput of water or water not warm enough (and you need hot water, Chachapoyas is damn cold at night! ) + the hostel is open to the inner courtyard so, except the rooms, is like being outside all the time! Bathrooms have a window WITHOUT GLASS so basically it's like taking a shower outside. Rooms are closed but quite cold as well. I caught a bad cold in that hostel that lasted one week. And I met another traveler in the same situation. If you stay in that hostel, keep all your clothes on all the time and take quick showers if possible during the day!

Super friendly staff and pretty comfy beds! The private room itself is pretty basic but definitely good for the price we paid for it. The hostel can help with a lot of the tours around the area but don't seem to offer that good a deal compared to local businesses (the price normally doesn't differ to what is offered elsewhere). Overall, a nice stay at a really nice price.

Really good hostel/hotel in a great location, about 2 minutes from the Plaza Armas. The staff are fantastic. They helped with finding and booking local tours (Kuelap, Gocta Falls, etc) and my onward travel. Very clean rooms, bathrooms and public areas. The rooms are mostly twins and doubles. Spotlessly clean and in good order. I booked a twin room for single use and paid the same as a dorm! Had a very good bed and pillow as well as a TV. Towels provided too. I didn't cook because I was travelling solo and the restaurants are cheaper than buying food to cook, but the kitchen is clean, large, and well stocked with utensils. Chachapoyas is a small place, so your no more than 5 minutes from anywhere in the centre including the bus stops. Had a fantastic stay in the city thanks to these guys. *Cafe Fusiones (superb) on the Plaza de Armas and Bar Reina (good vibe and selection of beers and spirits) on Av. Preferencial are the food and drink top spots in Chacha (in my opinion).

A relatively small place that is decent value giving the low price. You are giving a ton of blankets so shouldn't be cold at night, there are hot water showers and reasonably good Wi-Fi. You can also arrange tours to Kuelap etc.

The owner of the hostel was very helpful and the rooms very clean we also took the tour to Kuelap from the hostel nice place to stay :)

Excellent both for the price of the accommodation as for the tours they offer. In my case the tour that hired my wife included food in a town of back to see The Fortress of Kuelap, and the truth the food was delicious and the mate de coca light. The bathrooms in the hostel are shared, but there is a room for 3 people (we stayed with my mother-in-law) which includes your own bathroom, so yes you can find privacy at a good price. Only one thing, do not listen to the sr. Joseph, the owner of the hostel, about where you eat well is if you ask. The food in "Café Café" is terrible and in the block that follows, where the bakery, really bad also, with a coffee that is actually whole milk with a whisper of coffee. Go to the Fuzzion is in front of the main square, is the better from there; yes, the prices are not economic.

It's cozy and it also lets you socialize with other tourists.

The owner/operator Jose` here is unbelievably helpful. Perfect English and very knowledgeable. As far as I could tell he was working 18 hours a day providing advice and assisting at the front desk. Easily the best place to stay in Chachapoyas.

Good atmosphere in this large house converted into a hotel. The staff is very nice and the manager very helpful. The hotel is always cleaned and therefore very clean. Laundry Service perfect. Excursions a little expensive.

Hotel acceptable for 1 night that I spent, only to improve the cleanliness of the bed sheets. The rest was Ok, the attention of the people that work there are very friendly and helpful.

Fine hostel, very friendly service. We booked a double room, but found out there was quite some nuisance from the neighboring kitchen in the evenings and mornings. We managed fine for two nights, but I'm not sure if I would recommend this place to my friends.

This is one of the better hostels I stayed in during my South American adventures. Extremely clean, the best beds, and a really friendly staff. They offered several great tours and were always willing to help you out. I would totally recommend staying here.

It is a pity. We had been recommended this hotel by its seriousness. My father called the day today, march 24 to reserve rooms for my whole family (7 people) : They pledged to send the data to the warehouse but throughout the afternoon failed to remit despite the insistence of my father. Then, around 7 in the evening, they called to say that he no longer had rooms because he had "come a delegation of 30 people who had occupied all of the facilities. " It is a shame they will not honor their word and mistreat so to the travelers. Not recommended.

More than 5 years ago which is now my wife and a group of 4 friends from the US arrived to chachapoyas, after a long trip from Trujillo we arrive at the plaza at 6 am, we had reservation at one of the hotels in the plaza de armas and great was our surprise when we were told we had no booking in our name. I as was that he spoke better Spanish, I was seeking if there was room on the other side without luck. A man approached me and offered me a new hotel that were open at the beginning be wary of him and even told those who were with me that could be a trick, and that eden prepared to defend themselves! Hehe. The man we went up to a taxi and off we went. A few minios llégamos to the hotel, it was a dream. We were the only ones and although they were still under construction, the place and the people we loved. From the owner to the people that we cooked jerky every night. I will always remember that trip, an unforgettable adventure. I always think back to chachapoyas because it is the land of my papa. If I return I'll do my best to stay in this place that was etched in my memory as one of the best in Peru for their friendliness and attention.

Excellent service, comfortable rooms, information and tours. If you come to Chacha adventure, here you must stay.
