Best location beside main station.

I'd stay in a Scandic anywhere. Professional, full service, with a nicely appointed if tiny room. Best of all — and I apologise if this is a secret — free onsite laundry of you're willing to babysit it in the housekeeping area.

Nice location, close to the station and shopping areas. Best breakfast buffet ever! Good comfortable rooms.

Now it is five, I've spent some time here on 3 different occasions and the last time on the top floor with an extremely beautiful view to the city. Amazing.

Excellent location in Oslo Central Station area with great communication just outside the door. The rooms are modern and comfortable. Complimentary breakfast is simple but good, may be a bit crowded in "breakfast rush hour". Overall a very nice hotel and I will most likely be back.

Beautiful hotel but small rooms.

Left with terrible bug bites Stayed a night at Scandic Byporten during the Oslo summer. Location-wise, it’s extremely central but the entrance can be hard to find. It took me half an hour to find the entrance to the hotel. I’ve taken a photo to help other travellers. Just look out for the Egon Byporten restaurant and it’s right next door. The hotel room is a bit small but tastefully decorated. It would suffice for a solo traveller. I must commend the breakfast served at Egon restaurant. I had only expected a simple brekky and to my surprise, breakfast was an elaborate affair with hot food, salad bar, a variety of fruits, cereal, yoghurt, breads and plenty of juice, coffee and tea to go around. The reason for the poor rating was the bad bug bites that I had experienced. My legs became real itchy in the middle of the night and when I woke up the next morning, there were numerous bite marks mainly on my legs but also some on my arms. I’ve taken a pic to show how bad the bites are. And to help the hotel address the problem, I was in room 631. It’s a real shame because the hotel isn’t a bad place to stay.

Excellent location, nice rooms and very complete breakfast.

It can occasionally be confusing; the fact there are two individual Scandic properties directly across the street from one another. This Scandic — the Byporten is the one directly attached to the shopping centre and railway station. When you first enter, especially during a late afternoon, you might think you've made a huge mistake as you try to wind your way through swirling crowds of young people, gathering in the 'Bar' area of the hotel. The truth is that there's no difference between Reception and the Bar… hence the confusion. I had booked and pre-paid for a 'suite' for my daughter and myself just after the Christmas weekend. I booked direct through the Scandic fidelity scheme called Scandic Friends. Yet, regardless of my perfect use of the miracles of modern technology, the clerk at reception claimed we had no reservation. Despite spelling my simple surname three times, she kept insisting we had no reservation. She demanded my passport, which I politely handed over, along with my mobile phone showing the email confirmation we received from Scandic. She typed the booking number in and voila! We had a booking. Neither of us had to walk any further than the small bathroom because we could see the single beds pushing into the hallway… Back to reception we went… I pointed out that I had prepaid for a 2-room suite with separate bedrooms. The clerk perused the details, then excused herself, disappearing into the back.

I had a really nice stay here during a 2 day trip to Oslo. Location is super convenient — right inside Byporten centre next to the central station, also with great views of the city from the rooms. Everything was clean and safe with all basic amenities needed. Staff were really welcoming and helpful. Breakfast served at the Egon restaurant next door was delicious!

A good hotel located in the very centre of Oslo within a shopping centre attached to the train station from where you take among others, the high speed train to go to Gardermoen Airport. For all this it is a comfortable and central hotel. Also Oslo is a city to be able to walk and from this hotel is done well.

Kind, quiet if you have luck with neighbours. (thin walls, rooms close to each other). Public transport is literally next to you (transport hub with metro, buses etc are a few steps away), also very convenient as everything is close as it shares the building with a shopping mall/train station,. Delicious and full breakfast. Overall good quality food service.

Central and close to the city center.

Very well located, next to the train station but in a good area with lots of life. Next to several malls.
The room is very complete. We were in a family suite with good views and although you could hear the tram you could sleep smoothly. It was clean but they could have been more careful, actually. The breakfast was very good. Very attentive staff, they offered to help us on a couple of issues that we just asked. For me the stay there would actually be 4.5

Clean, but small and not done when we checked in LATE at night. Expensieve and the beds were lacking sheets, pillow and duvetcovers, one duvet and pillow wasn't there, and the bunk beds were not made either. There wasn't enough towels for everyone in the room, and the towels were very small. Room was VERY small. Will not be staying there again, despite good location.

Location was brilliant, right beside the train station and the main city shopping areas. Staff very friendly. Had booked a standard double room but for some reason was given a family room with fold up bunk beds. As the room was small the beds being down left the room really compact, took a while to figure out how to fold it up but once that was up I had no complaints.

Very good hotel in a central location serving nice breakfast. If you need a train to get to the office or other places, a really good choice.

Ideally located in close proximity to Oslo Central, the Scandic Byporten is a superb 'resting house' when you are in town (Oslo) on business or enjoying a break. It is walking distance from the City Centre. The trains, buses and trams all pass by regularly. Breakfast is great (am not a breakfast eater but sparse or big meals are both on offer) inside a 'wooden building' that reminds me of a 'saloon in the WIld West'. Courteous service delivered with a smile at all times.

Scandic Byporten is located very good. The parking facilities is good and good communication. Temperature is adjusted from reception but immediate answer and adjustment did the trick. The staff is flexible when reservations are made and the breakfast at Egon next door is of high quality. Wi-Fi is also really good.

The staff was excellent, helpful & friendly. The location is very central and our hotel room was great. Will definitely stay again!

We considered regular at this hotel booked either under my name or my husband. We always had great stayed and good services. Room very clean despite its quiet small. The only thing, mini bar is consider not functioning at all. The receptionist on duty during cheked-in did highlighted about that when we checked-in but wondering why it’s not rectify. She suggested to put thing at the hotel refrigerator. The receptionist Eman Ahmed was very helpful during our stay, not only friendly always with her smile and hello. She helped me out twice ie > looking for iphone charger to lend my son as he forgotten to bring his. And Eman also helped to scan the documents and emails it. Keep up the good work Eman and you will go far in your career in hospitality industries. PS: Ex hotelier :)

Rooms too hot! Turned down when asked. Good breakfast. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff.

We stayed here one night for a concert. Our previous stay here was excellent, but this time unfortunately it was not. We had a superior extra room, and these should include bathrobes, but we hadn't received any. We called the reception and they said they would bring them. When they didn't come we called again and were told it could take some time. Poor service! We had paid for a room that were supposed to include bathrobes. And another unfortunate incident, in the middle of the night, we awoke by dripping water on my head. A water leak caused by a drunk guest on the floor above. Not the hotels fault! We were provided with another room promptly, however it was a smaller room (full hotel, we are waiting to hear back about compensation) An eventful night to say the least. Everything else was all right, the breakfast was excellent as always on Scandic.

We are here for a few days and we love this hotel! The rooms are clean and the service is top! The breakfast was awesome with such a nice view!

Very nice hotel and very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast with healthy and tasteful food. Rooms are small but this is Oslo, you don't get senior suite for those money. I will definitely be back.

It is conveniently located close to the centre and interesting tourist sites. And, unlike the other European capitals, the station area is ' clean ' and without risk. Not so the rooms, which do not provide for a continuous cleaning cycle: If you suffer from allergy to dust is not for you. Spacious room for families. The breakfast is rich, varied and plentiful. The Wi-Fi however is as slow as a Norwegian sunset, unusable.

This time scandic byporten! I expect big room but when I came here and saw my room is so small… breakfast was delicious but washing machine only one …
So uncomfortable… like if someone use it you just have to waiting. I don't know how many times I am going floor4 and my room is 6floor! I hope when they finished washing machine take out their clothes. Then next people can use it … or just waiting and waiting so annoying … I am staying here one weeks everything is fine except washing machine also I don't know how to my clothes laundry…
I hope they have some slippers? cuz my socks too dirty now… even washing…

Pretty good hotel, very good location.

The room was clean and comfortable.

The location, the cleanliness and the friendly staff cannot the circumstance change, that the ventilation system blows noisily unabänderbar cold air into the room. This can be changed according to the hotel staff also do not.
Who so want to wake up with a runny nose and headache the next morning, should definitely check-in. (How can you expect to only such as guests)
Word of advice: it tries times with adjustable ventilation grilles.

The hotel and the rooms are very clear, the staff is friendly and helpful. Everything is very close and you can buy food and drinks in the shopping center in the very near. Had no problems at all.

The hotel was pretty good and also the facilities. The most useful things are the market inside the hotel and the train station very near. Just 4 stars because once they forget to clean the room.

Not great. Rooms small and cramped, double rooms aren't (two singles jammed together), and hallways feel like a jail. Needs a severe revamp.

Stressing and with lots of expensive shops. Junkies just outside the door. Serves in many cases as a way to get from the trams to the trains without getting wet on a rainy day.

The bathroom was ice cold and the other room was way too hot. Breakfast was at Egon's — a place not suited for a ton of hotel guests at the same time. Too cramped and chaotic. But the food was OK.

Nice Scandic standard hotel, few meters from the central station. Didn't eat there because of late arrival and leaving very early.

Definitely, this hotel cannot be recommended. We booked a superior room for three nights. After our arrival, we were first shipped in a standard room. After reclamation was moving into your room — we were allowed to carry the luggage. Here the window did not rule then, the handle was not close. Unfortunate, if the hotel is located directly at the train station and it's loud at night according to. For the last two nights we have moved again. With the same problem of not closing window. Maybe that's in all rooms! Moreover, the fact that the air conditioning while programming was, but showed no function. So, we had unpleasant 25 degrees in the room (it was hot out there too). All in all problems would need to be managed better. We will no longer stay here.
PS: Better early at breakfast, it is hardly put to.! Who comes shortly before the end, finds nothing at all. And in between the slices seem counted off. It not the tray is filled, sindern apparently only individual packs on. What a pity.

Was at Scandic Byporten in March 2010, when I went on the stage of the biathlon world Cup. The hotel is situated right at the train Central station in the heart of Oslo. Very хорошин hearty Breakfast in the restaurant next to the hotel (in the same building). The impression is most favourable. If you are leaving early, you can on the eve of the order on reception relying you Breakfast and take it dry rations.
