Top nothing to complain about, aside from the showers and let it be a can eccentric!

Very nice place trying to make a name, not quite finished yet. The food is very good and the view of the volcano design is beautiful.

Nice and simple accommodation and authentic Nica home cooked food. All the family are so helpful and friendly. We also used their recommended guide Diego for Maderas. His passion for his country, community and environment was outstanding. Compared to other guides his co-op might be a little more expensive but you pay for quality.

Awesome experience. It's a new hostel, so it won't be glamorous. The beds and rooms are fine, but the real treat is staying with marc, lizzeth and their family. Marc and lizzeth, the owners, are incredibly accomodating and will help you out with whatever your plans are on the island. The make you great home cooked meals if you choose to stay for them instead of going out elsewhere. I can't recommend this place enough. It was my favorite place I stayed during my time in nicaragua.

Stayed here for three nights while on Ometepe. Mark and his lovely family were so welcoming and kind. The food was amazing! $3 breakfast and $6 dinner, very tasty. Mark sorted out a guide for us to hike one of the volcanos and gave us all the information we needed for any activities. The hostel is still growing and they are still building rooms and beds but the hospitality they showed compensated for the unfinished areas. Clean rooms, clean showers, great location. 100% would recommend.

When I turned up, all of their 'for rent rooms' were gone. But there were some others, which needed work. Mark said, I could have one of those at a lower price — excellent. The rooms are simple and clean. Shared bathrooms for all, but this is a small property so it's not a problem. Mark and the family are fantastic, very welcoming and don't mind a chat. There is a small bar, with tables and chairs or hammocks if you please. They are also able to rent you a bicycle and advice you on what to do. There are also clean dogs and cats that LOVE a cuddle. They literally jump into your lap whilst eating or laying in the hammock. Cannot rate the experience highly enough.

Mark is a great host! He's very friendly and he really likes to help you out. Great place that I definitely recommend!

Had a lovely time here. The owner and his family are very accommodating and hospitable. The Wi-Fi is AMAZING. They are connected to the fiber line that runs along the main road. I did video chats here multiple times with no problems. The meals prepared here are delicious and reasonably priced. Very close to Ojo de Agua. Bikes and motorcycles may be rented here to explore the island. Would recommend.

A very quiet family run and owned spot in the middle of Isla Ometepe. The owner was very helpful, informative and friendly. The room, bathrooms and common areas are very clean and well looked after. The food is very good (thanks for the lovely banana pancakes Mama Rosalia) If you're looking for a clean quiet spot away from the crowd this is a great place to explore all Isla Ometepe has to offer. Ask for gia Rafael, for a fun friendly guide to the volcanoes (he climbs both of them twice a week so knows them like the back of his hand! )

Me and my girlfriend spent one night here and we had a blast, Mark greeted us so well and Doña Rosario cooked this amazing banana pancakes in the morning… I recommend this place to everyone.

At night just walk 50 meters on the highway and you'll stamble to a concrete bench, you can watch the stars and the milki way from there.

I absolutely loved my stay at La Peñita. The owners Mark and Lizzeth are kind and easy to work with. They are both very knowledgeable and will help you with anything you want to do on the island. For example, they will help you reserve transportation, find a trustworthy guide up the volcano and provide general information about Ometepe and its attractions. Also, the food is delicious! Their family makes three home made meals a day that you can purchase and it is wonderful to get to know the family who lives there. The facilities right now are very simple, but they are working to grow and improve over time. If you are visiting Ometepe, you must stay here if you want a true family experience.

Our stay in La Penita was one of the greatest moments we experienced while travelling in Nicaragua. Lizzet, the owner of this place, is one wonderful person and great host! I would like to point out that her local knowledge is very precious. Living in Europe for couple of years, she can easily help you to understand all culture differences and guide you once you decide to visit Ometepe (must go destination! ). Although this place is still in under the reconstruction with basic facilities to offer, there is a plan to establish a home-stay in the middle of glorious nature with different day-night activities for tourists… And food is delicious! :)
