We were really happy with our stay at the Camelot Motor Lodge. While the facilities are a little bit older we were really impressed with how exceptionally clean and well maintained they are. We got a deal online, so were more than happy to get better facilities with the Motor Lodge for a better price than we would have got an Air BnB. The studio room we had was large with a well equipped kitchenette, really quiet so we had a great nights sleep, and the spa pool was a nice way to wind down in the evening. We will definitely be back!

Had a heater in our room that short circuited and burnt through the multi plug it was connected to. Pulled it from wall and it sparked so pretty dangerous. Hope this gets fixed.

Would not go back. Very tired needs a revamp.

Checked in here following a 20hr stint nonstop from Auckland. Check-in was disgusting, as work had booked for me was under bosses name with very clear indication on booking print out it was for myself. Was told, and I quote “there will be no charge backs or anything like that” with a non humour filled female. Hot water ran out after 2-3 minutes. Called reception, she invited herself in the room to check the hot water cylinder was turned on. It was. Told me to call back in few hours if it hadnt sorted itself (i was ready for sleep within the first 5 minutes given the lengthly journey… had to check out at 1am to make it to picton ferry, whopps my colleague left our UE speaker in the room and we left the key in there also as we were leaving. THIS IS WHERE THINGS GOT RIDICULOUS! Called reception which was answered with a “hello” from the asian owner/ manager, I explained the situation and he replied saying there was only 1 key to the room and there was nothing he could do to let us back in… I replied saying that didnt make sense and after pleading with him he asked me to go to reception. Asked for ID which was different to the person who made the booking (my boss) and told we must be trying to steal stuff and hes not going to let us in… I ended up having to phone 111 for police assistance as he became extremely agitated and insulting us using assumptions we were robbers (at 1am in the morning, clearly explaining what we needed to retrieve and where?

Our first stay in New Zealand. Huge space and well equipped kitchen. There is a small pool, but we just pass it due to serious jet lag from the first day of the trip. There’s a liquor store on the opposite side, and a small food stall to sell very delicious grilled lamb.

Definitely not a 4 star, more like 1.5 at best. Poor maintenance, hasn't been upgraded in a loooong time. AC unit installed only on lower floor, bedrooms upstairs a furnace, finally slept on the floor downstairs. Disappointing…

Very dated furnishings and fittings. We were given a unit right in front of the reception and the ground floor bedroom and the bathroom windows open up to facing another motel behind. Absolutely no privacy, noisy with people, coaches with tourists coming in and out. We have to keep our window closed all the time because people walking pass or coaches driving pass or parking there can look straight in the room and the bathroom! Reached the motel at 1.35 pm and was told by reception we cannot check in yet because we are too early. Their official check in time is 2 pm, I mean what the hell, they are not flexible at all! I have never encountered such problem with our check in with other accommodations, the rest are so flexible and understanding that the guest are tired and need a place to rest. The beds are so uncomfortable, they all sink in the middle or the side the moment you laid down, making it difficult to sleep Overall we didn't enjoyed our stay and would definitely not recommend to anyone.

On arrival receptionist was rude and assumed things about us on arrival saying he hoped we would be well behaved and not cause any damage! Our TV in room also had no reception when enquired he said did we know how to turn it on like we were incapable After coming back from dinner still was not fixed asked again to find out that the tvs back connections werent attached properly so my husband had to adjust all night. Not even a sorry! Great location and rooms actually lovely too had about service!

Loved staying here! Very clean tidy. Lovely hosts. Super close to the city will be back!

Big rooms, but maybe ran out of money to add doors? "Free Wi-Fi" is a bit of a stretch considering it is too slow to use 99% of the time. An odd smell to the room that seemed to just linger. Shower was merely a trickle of water. Spa extremely hot, but coloured green. Pool clean and cold. All in all, for $260 a night you're buying space. Not luxury. Look elsewhere.

A castle-themed motel near the Christchurch CBD Pros: • Helpful staff • Plenty of room and a good kitchen space • Central location near Hadley Park • Quiet and low light levels for sleeping (even had a blackout blind for the kitchen window) Cons: • Parking could be a bit tight in places, but you could park in any spot • Mattress was too firm (I woke up sore, but my wife was fine) • Water pressure in shower was weak, but kitchen tap spurted out • The fridge was turned off when we arrived. The manager explained it was because the room had not been occupied for a while; however, someone should have attended to it before we checked in. If we hadn’t noticed it ourselves, our groceries could have spoiled.

Be Careful, this motel change ownership and it shows. A year ago I would have given it 5 stars. I did not feel safe there, lots of pretty unsavoury people staying there — big crowds smoking outside my door. On check out the guy barely spoke English, could not understand him. He was rude. They told me they had a 1 bed for a week but upon checking in they did not, they will tell you anything to get you to book but be careful upon arrival that may not be the case. Rooms very dated now, I stayed a night and left — for only $10 a night more moved to a very smart hotel. Not good value.

Lovely room, comfortable beds, extremely clean with well equipped kitchen. Staff were helpful and courteous would definitely stay again.
