We were here for two nights and it was amazing. Very cosy, homely feel — including belly-scratch-demanding dog! The view from our room was breathtaking and it was a great size and impeccably clean. The facilities are great, there was a communal fridge right outside our door, a safe in the wardrobe, two fluffy bath robes and tea and coffee making facilities — with milk included in the fridge. The rooms have good sound proofing too.
We did hear the infamous fire station alarm but it was only for 30 seconds or so.
The breakfast must be the highlight of the stay! I had a big breakfast on both mornings and it was amazing. Bacon, sausage, mushrooms, hashbrowns and two perfectly poached eggs — Mick missed his calling as a chef!
The short walk to the main restaurant drag with a selection of good restaurants and good bars. Brilliant stay!

Perfect for what we were looking for. We only stayed one night but are hoping to return. Will stay there again as we couldn’t fault it and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. The location was convenient, the rooms were quiet and we had a comfortable bed. The hot tub and lovely breakfast were a welcome bonus.

Couple of nights stop over. Very convenient for road and 5 min walk to town. Clean and comfortable. Lovely hosts and an excellent breakfast in the morning. We had the seahorse room which benefits from having its own little veranda. No hesitation in recommending this spot.

Nakai Lodge is perfect! Super clean, really really comfortable wonderful view, excellent location, and a beautiful, private garden with a hot tub! But the very best part was our host Mick – our breakfast was delicious and conversation superb! Highest recommendation – we would return in a second!

Everything about it was excellent and lovely hosts. If we were to return to Kaikoura we would book there again.

Great spot to stay in Kaikoura. Clean, roomy, friendly owners, TV, free fast Wi-Fi. Location is only a 1 block walk from downtown.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Rooms are excellent, great views, fantastic hosts and good food. Ideal place to chill out if touring NZ. Plenty of parking and a short walk down to the town. ☆☆☆☆☆.

Brilliant place to stay, even without a room with a view. The breakfasts were fantastic the company interesting and Jake the dog entertaining. The Lotions and potions in the bathroom were wonderful, and the wine delicious. Close to everything. Thank you!

We stayed at Nikau Lodge for two nights in November 2009 in the Seal. The room was very tidy and contained all necessities, the bed was comfortable and view excellent. Everything worked and the creaking floor gave a romantic touch to our stay. The breakfast was excellent and our landlord very kind and helpfull and very effective indeed. Although the lodge was situated near the main road there was rather little noise from the traffic.
