Guests can enjoy a meal at a local restaurant or a drink at the local bar, about 100 metres away. A small grocery store is located on the premises, a few steps away. There is a large commercial kitchen and lounge area with a flat screen TV for guests to share.

Oxford Queenette Backpackers offers renovated hotel acommodation right in the Oxford town centre, opposite the Town Hall and behind the Queenette Dairy shop. Oxford swimming pool, fitness centre and children's playground are just 100 metres away and the local library and information centre are just across the main street.

Guests can enjoy various activities in the surroundings including hiking, golfing, at Waimakariri Gorge Golf Course, 10 minutes' drive away, horse riding at Kowhai Residential School of Riding, 14 minutes' drive away, fishing when joining a local fishing tour, hunting (license required), mountain biking, swimming, skiing in winter on Mt. Oxford and jet boating at Alpine Jet, 35 minutes' drive away.
