The best lamb rib meal I ever had. Stay was absolutely fantastic. Staff so helpful and very friendly. Loved every view out of every window across the lake and snow capped mountains. Amazing stay. Will be back next year. I can't wait. Sandra Durham UK.

Stopped here for 1 night. The room was cosy and the bed was comfortable. Downside was, every time someone of the 2nd level is walking, it can be heard clearly.

Cheap and clean… Which is good. Low quality — bed of a very poor quality, bedside tables shaky and unstable. Old style fan heater — noisy. Fan in the bathroom sounds like plane at the take off. No sound proofing at all — can hear heighbours fart! Overall — just a roof over the head at night time. On a positive note — take away fish and chips on site — great value for money! Huge piece of fish for $4.50!

Rather disappointing second stay here, cleanliness and general maintenance leave a lot to be desired. Upon entering our room there was a large wet patch on the carpet and the room stunk of overpowering chemicals, not to mention the hair on the bed and poo in the bin. After changing room it was somewhat an improvement but there are odd paint patches on the wall and it sounds like the ceiling fan is going to fall off.

Great little place to stay. It’s got a confusing African tribal hut decor thing going on but that just adds to the charm. Reception staff are great and very accommodating. The room was clean and spacious with tea making facilities included. Shower was good. Use of the hot tub was included and was pretty good for relaxing after a hard day of relaxing. Location is indeed on the waterfront but a good half mile from the shops and bars etc but this makes it a nice and quiet place away from the touristic bustle of the town centre. Hop over the road and chill on the “beach” at night for decent stargazing as there is little light pollution.

Good value for money. Comfortable. Restaurant and bar on site. Great views across Lake Taupo.

Beds were hard Rooms need updating Windows were dirty. Bathroom was very average. People were very nice tho.

Very small rooms but this is too be expected. Good if ya on ya own or have minimal gear. Parking is very tight out front and overall not a bad place to stay.

Right on the lake close to swimming area. Restaurant on site. Tidy rooms. Very warm building for some reason. May be the timber construction. Very accomodating establishment.

Very tired facilities. Very dark rooms. Carpet old and badly marked. Old food items found in my fridge on arrival… so wary of cleanliness.

Great location with wonderfull lake view from restaurant and some rooms. Clean cozy room with tea amenities, safe, hair dryer, TV. Room was quite. Free Wi-Fi in rooms with good speed. The main disadvantage — water in shower was not hot just warm. Restaurant The Lazy Trout is very nice.

This is a lovely place, very quaint and relaxing. The style is simple but nice. The staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant – “The Lazy Trout” is very good and worth trying. The rooms lack air-conditioning but overall very good value for money.

Great place along the water. And if you're hungry, they have a restaurant in the building. There is plenty of parking and the staff is great. The room was a bit dim and the bed too soft for my liking. But for the price, I wouldn't expect anything more.

The pressure in the shower wasn’t that great. Room was tidy and clean, upon checking out the lady behind reception was busy on her phone and I had to cough to get her attention.

Good location. Reasonable value for money. Furniture in rooms needs an update although walls newly painted. No cupboard to unpack clothes in. Staff friendly.

Clean but pretty basic. It was quite noisy for us being in a double room on the ground floor. All the plumbing from above you can here and bathrooms fans. If on a budget and like confined spaces this should suit. On a positive note the shower pressure was good and water stayed hot.

Great place, nice views, really friendly staff. We even made booking with wrong dates through an online site and they helped sorting out and even a free upgrade. It's an economic room, very good as people stay only for night and travel for sight seeing during day.

Very uncomfortable stay and rooms to small, paid for upgrade n a big disappointed over all. The only good about this place is the Manager. She is extremely friendly and very courteous with excellent customer service skills.

Very nice and cosy hotel. The staff were fine and the room was very clean. The rooms were warm in the middle of July (winter) and the hotel is in a good location. Parking was easy and if the car park did get full you are on a side street to park on aswell. Highly recommend this place!

Very disappointing. We phoned and booked for Sunday night, expressly asking if there was a restaurant there for a meal as we would be arriving around 7pm. We were assured that the restaurant would be open. On arriving we discovered the restaurant was closed for a private function. Also no tissues in the bathroom and the lighting in the bathroom was very poor and unsuitable for ladies makeup application. Would not stay here again.

The cabin style hotel gave us everything we needed for an affordable price. A comfy bed, hot water aplenty in the bath and a good, quiet nights sleep. Great location right opposite Lake Taupo too. Some decent restaurants and bars just a short walk back towards town.

Very budget accomodation at non budget prices, zero amenities in the rooms, no air conditioning, had to ask for wine glass. Dayed decor and facilities… in need of a make over. Would not recommend at all.
