Absolutely stunning property, with Great hosts Lionel and Rob, we loved the tropical gardens, we stayed at the cottage, which was absolutely immaculate and had all the extras over and above.
Every little thing is thought of to make your stay comfortable as possible, we loved that we could take our dog to the property, they even provided a beautiful dog bed and dog bowls.
They also provide a beautiful breakfast basket with all home made goodies. The location is great it’s just a one minute walk to the local markets and Makana Chocolate factory, and the local vineyards and wineries are close by, Its also a short drive to Paihia beaches.
We can highly recommend this property.

Such tranquility and beauty! The gardens are just glorious and to be able to have our Lucy with us is simply the best! We will keep on coming back.

Had a wonderful three night stay here, a great place to base yourself when you explore the Bay of Islands. The beautifully laid out gardens and the immaculate rooms make it easy to kick back and relax in absolute privacy. Rob and Lionel are great hosts, there when you want them but not in anyway intrusive. The breakfasts are awesome. We will return.

We stayed at the Cottage for four nights, having originally booked for two! I can’t recommend Moon Gate Villa highly enough. Beautifully presented and amazing attention to detail. We were made to feel very welcome and so comfortable. Very pretty gardens and close to Kerikeri for good eating in the evenings. Thank you Lionel and Rob.

Warm welcome, excellent attention to detail in all rooms. Service was amazing. Their personal touch with flowers wine and chocolates in our room for our 30th Wedding Anniversary was a wonderful surprise. High recommendations all around.

Moon Gate Villa offers a wonderfully relaxing experience. Lionel and Rob are exemplary hosts providing a first class product. Delightful garden setting, extremely comfortable guest rooms, magnificent freshly prepared breakfasts, plus a warm welcoming manner await you here. We visited as a two couple group, suggested by my daughter and son in law who spent part of their honeymoon here — I am so glad we followed their recommendation! Rob was spot on with his daily activity suggestions — taking the weather forecasts into consideration. Lionel could be seen always smiling, providing us with the delicious breakfasts.
KeriKeri is a lovely, small holiday community offering a good choice for meals. A short drive away is Paihia which is the base for ferry trips into the bay. At Rob's suggestion we could consider flying directly in and out next trip, due to winding roads and on going road maintenance. Thank you Lionel and Rob for your generous hospitality. We sincerely hope we can return soon.

Rob and Lionel have made a perfect BnB home into an exceptional experience. From a welcome glass of wine (or beer) to the bedtime local chocolates and flowers, we felt like special guests. Lionel is a wonderful chef preparing and serving a delicious breakfast to order along with fresh fruits and breads, homemade muesli, and fresh squeezed orange juice.
Our bed was very comfortable and the pillows and linens were plush and immaculate. Each room has its own private sitting area outside and inside, and there is a common area to relax with friends. The grounds are landscaped and tranquil. There isn't a thing I can think of that this place is lacking. We are staying 5 nights and have found plenty to see and do in the area. Today was blustery with wind and rain so after touring the Waitangi Treaty Grounds we opted to spend the afternoon just relaxing at the Villa. There are many nice restaurants to choose from in Kerekeri just a couple minutes away. Thank you so much for sharing your place with us.

Moon gate Villa is one of the best accomodation experiences my partner and I have had. Nothing was too much work, and we felt spoilt for the whole weekend! What adorable people and accomodation, just perfect… love to you both xx.

Probably was a stunning place to stay but has been allowed to get run down. Accommodation was ok but the gardens were messy and the pool dirty.

Moon Gate Villa is Number 1 in Kerikeri look no further if you want to relax and enjoy great conversations or be treated like a Queen.

Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Breakfast was really amazing. Loved their Bircher muesli and eggs Florentine. Rooms were really comfortable, clean and faultless. Hosts were amazing. Highly recommend to all. Thanks for making our stay so great.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Highly recommend as I believe the service and accommodation was worth more than we paid for. The owners made us feel so comfortable, breakfast was beautiful. We will definitely  be returning, one of the best places we have stayed in! All the little touches were most special.

We loved our stay at Moongate Villa! Everything was perfect, and we enjoyed being in the suite down the end of the passage, with two bedrooms at our disposal since one of us snores! We could relax outside in the garden in the evening in our courtyard area, and enjoy the slow dusk (while slipping in and out of the heated pool), with our salads, cheese and crackers — and some good NZ wine, of course! Then we’d watch a movie from the recommendations at MGV. Incidentally, the wif…i/electronics/Netflix arrangement is superb since Rob is a tech-expert. Lionel and Rob made us feel totally welcome throughout, and gave us good advice on what to see and do in this spectacular place, as well as useful recommendations on the alternative return journey to Auckland, via the west coast, which we highly recommend. Lionel and Rob were friendly and kind — we enjoyed our chats — and we also loved how Mojo, the resident ‘guard dog’, would wag his tail in greeting us every time we came home. We relished our wanderings through the beautifully kept garden. We also had heaps of time to ourselves just to chill, read and relax. We highly recommend MoonGate Villa and would love to return one day. (Micaela — mother-daughter weekend of cycling, walks and yummy food, starting with Lionel’s delish breakfasts? )

Recently stayed in the premium suite at the Moon Gate villa and were extremely satisfied with our experience. The villa itself is beautiful and the surrounding gardens even more so. The hosts are extremely welcoming and do a fantastic job, breakfast was delicious too. Would not hesitate to stay here again in the future!

Moon Gate Villa provided my husband and I with the luxury and comfort we needed for the perfect mini-break. Lionel and Rob were warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived — making us feel at home instantly! We stayed in the Cottage which was warm and cozy with the most luxurious bed and beautiful, private outlook. The provided breakfasts were delicious! Lionel is a fantastic cook — you have to try his fried bread. And Kerikeri provided so many great options for eating out; the market up the road had outstanding local cuisine, entertainment, fresh produce and arts and crafts — a great way to spend the day; and we can't forget to mention the Makana Chocolate factory — divine! I can't recommend Moon Gate Villa more highly — it provides all you need for a wonderful time away — the best hosts, comfy, luxurious accommodation, yummy food, and a beautiful setting. We will certainly return and be recommending Moon Gate Villa to our friends and family.

Oh, this place! Without a shadow of a doubt the most amazing B&B, with the most amazing and wonderful hosts. We originally checked in for 11 nights but ended up staying for 14! We cannot recommend this piece of heaven highly enough. Lionel and Rob have achieved something very special. Thank you so very much. X.
