Utterly disappointed, we were never told when booking that the hotel does not offer food or beverages as the restaurant is closed. Ended up having to get our own food and drinks to bring in, crazy!
The breakfast that was offered was super average. They never managed our expectations and their was no communication around this, real shame. Pools great but that’s one of the only things, for the price you pay the heritage needs to up their game massively, would not recommend.

After breakfast we decided to swim in the pool upstairs before checking out. The pool was open and one other Pakeha guest came in a little later. During our swim a clearly embarrassed young staff member informs my SIL that his manager saw us in the cameras and sent him to ask us which room we were staying in. SIL informs him to ask his manager to come and discuss the issue with us (we don’t know what it is at this point). The GM of security comes with a second man in a suit who remains silent in the back. The GM approaches us with no attempt to role model good customer service and with no reasonable explanation to question our legitimacy to use hotel facilities. He doesn’t question the other hotel guest what his room number is. After I challenge and question his approach and basis for questioning us, he hastily retreats without any attempt at an apology. Poor service, poor management skills and no leadership. Happy to take our money though. Not okay! I hope this is not the way your hotel typically treats brown people in 2020. Perhaps investing in some staff-wide cultural competency training might be a step in the right direction?

HEAD OF SECURITY asked us to provide a room number! Surrounding patrons at the pool weren’t asked JUST US! singled out, made to feel unwelcome and questioned like we’d done something WRONG! soooo humiliating and embarrassing! The HEIGHT of systemic racism and WHY are Pacific people are constantly made to feel UNWELCOME in places where they PAY just like anyone else — HORRIBLE end to what was meant to be a celebration for my daughter devastating! No apology, nothing! Just ‘reasons’ why they questioned US…

Staff and general manager are rude, condescending and an utter displeasure to deal with. They do nothing about noise complaints and have no respect or concern for people living in the hotel. The hot tub on the roof has been broken for ages and the laundry facilities will put you out of pocket $4 for a wash and dry but beware the damage it will do to your clothing.

Great place for a weekend break.

The beds and pillows are amazing, so soft and comfortable, no hard beds here. Food in restaurant, why would you want to go out? Views from rooftop pool are fantastic.

Great venue for cooperate events, huge selection of rooms and a range of AV options available. Hotel suites and facilities are of great quality too.

What a beautifully restored building, it was an absolute pleasure to stay in such a stunning hotel. Staff was very nice, breakfast was delicious. Will be back.

Probably the best service I've had in NZ. How many other hotels would cook dinner for 4 at 10.30 at night I wonder? This one did. Just an amazing weekend, thank you!

The location is excellent. Rooms are large and beds comfortable, although the decor is dated. The spa pool and sauna were great as was the service.

This is a great hotel. With well appointed rooms and great facilities. I particularly like the gym and roof top pool. The restaurant has one of th best vegetarian continental breakfast buffets I've seen. The bar is a great place to stop off for a scotch to end the night on too.

The infrastructure from the hotel is good. A brand new fitness center and good pools. The problem with my experience was the terrible reception service, a wrong information more than one time. A proper training should be held with the staff.

Funny historic hotel, building was originally a warehouse or similar. Generous styled rooms, a little crofty, but pleasant place to stay. Good location.

Fantastic hotel in the heart of downtown Auckland. Walking distance to all amenities. Great heated rooftop pool.

Nice hotel with a great location. It's only a few blocks away from the Waterfront with a plethora of restaurants and bars. Also, walking distance to the Cruise Port Terminal at Princes Wharf. It's 2 blocks to Sky City with the Shy Tower and Casino. The rooms are clean with high ceilings, large windows, and sumptuous bed linens. The body length pillows were a welcome surprise. My room even had a full stove, kitchen sink with Garbage Disposal, dishes, pots, pans, glassware, coffee pot, and a toaster. Allowing the option of cooking and eating in for those on a budget. The rooftop pool was also surprisingly large and deep. The gym is a little bit small. But it opens up to the Pool. That's a good thing and bad at the same time if you don't want to be watched by everyone at the Pool. I'm a bit shy on that matter. There is a Spa, but I did not have time to check it out on my short stay. The Staff is very friendly and helpful. I was having trouble connecting to the free Wi-Fi and the front desk lady set it up on my phone for me. I was also able to request and get Early Arrival for my room at no ectra charge, which was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. After a 13 hour flight, that was a big plus. I would highly recommend this hotel for it's amenities and location.

Staying in a one bedroom studio style apartment. This place has giant windows! its nice and clean and has a kitchen too. Some of the fixtures don't work perfectly and the air conditioning controller is a dial without numbers… but it has one of the nicest pools in Auckland. It also has a tennis court and sauna. There's actually an indoor lap pool too and two gym rooms. It's a bit of a mission to find them but that's part of the adventure.

Really great hotel with a central location, right around the corner of the sky tower. There are two parts a renovated tower and the old building. Our room was in the old building, which is already a little outdated. Carpet in the floor was smelling a bit. Standard rooms are very small, recommend an upgrade to the deluxe. Roof pool is just amazing. Super friendly staff!

Fairly nice period hotel in central location. Good amenities like roof top pool, indoor lap pool and gym. We particularly liked that the room was specifically designed for 4 people with a room divider between the two double beds, and a small kitchen. Front desk staff were pretty friendly and happy to spend the time giving us tourist advice on things to do. On the negative front, it’s seems pretty antiquated, in the era of Netflix, to cap the free Wi-Fi at 2GB per room per 24 hours and then charge for extra. We also tried the room service one evening and found that two of our choices weren’t available, and the order took about 1 hour and 20 minutes to arrive (ordered at 8pm).

We had a work team breakfast at the Hectors Restaurant. The food is great but the buffet menu of $34pp is slightly overpriced.

The room was great, and service was lovely. It's located close to many great places to eat/drink.

Historic (as the name heritage says) building. Former Farmers building but has been a hotel for long time. As you move through the hotel you can see the old flooring, beams etc. The hotel signature restaurant "Hectors" (named after long departed cockatoo) is located inside the alcove made by the surrounding rooms. Famously is the Grand Tearoom on the 7th floor. Nowadays used for elaborate functions and events. The hotel added an apartment style wing about 20 years ago.

The Heritage is a very good base from which to explore Auckland. The Sky Centre is nearby where you can pick up the Explorer bus and visit some of Auckland's historic sites. Whilst in the opposite direction is a downhill walk to the ferry terminal enabling you to see other parts of the surrounding area. Also in this location is The Viaduct where there is an abundance of restaurants and bars. The Heritage Hotel is a very good hotel with great service and very helpful and friendly staff.

It's great. The restaurant is awesome, the pools are a lot of fun and the kids clamor to go there often.

Great hotel. Old but renovated very beautifully. They really looked after us well. The facilities are clean and well maintained as well too.

My preferred place to stay in Auckland. Good standard of service and room. $35 buffet breakfast can be reduced to $25 if booked on arrival.

My wife and little one stayed three nights with breakfast included. Excellent service and hotel room, enjoyed the spa each day. Breakfast included a great selection including vegetarian and vegan options. Even Kombucha and coffee machine included in price. Hotel in great central location with quick walk to sky tower, queen Street and britomart train station. Highly recommend facilities, breakfast and staff service.

We attended an event at The Heritage and on the way to the banquet hall we passed through the hotel. It was fascinating to see how the old building had been updated and incorporated into a hotel. The banquet was excellent in a lovely room with the old decorated ceiling very evident and the view over the city from the balcony beautiful.

Come to this hotel regularly to service and see it from all angles. Staff are professional and are attentive. Also a high standard of cleanliness. Good place to stay.

My Family and myself loved our stay. First impression was that the concige was very lovely and helpful. Rooftop pool was beautifull, we enjoyed the indoor pool facilities aswel. Our room was perfect sized family room. We got the valet and breakfast deal, loved breakfast first time I've seen a Raw breakfast option at Hotel. Overall we loved our 1night get away.

Great central location very helpful friendly staff. Room was a good size and presented well. Beds were very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant for breakfast lovely setting and breakfast was delicious.

We had an awesome time. The room was great. Corner room on 5th floor was huge, and decent view of harbour and hotels outdoor pool area. It had everything we could need, even a proper kitchen! My only prob with the room is the shower, it's very low even for a shorty like me! We tried out room service dessert which was all delicious and delivered very quickly. All hotel staff were pleasant. The fitness facilities were great! But the showers and toilets weren't great, seemed like local pool changing rooms really. Before checking out we had a huge buffet breakfast. The dietary options are great. The hot dishes and bakery were pretty standard choices, but all very tasty. We will def go back!

Staff very friendly, quality restaurant and perfect location. A flat on the rooms which are really antiquated although comfortable and spacious.

We stayed at the hotel for one night, and we LOVED it! The concierge, Jimmy, was so great! Our room was clean and spacious, and the fridge in our kitchenette had room to store our own food and drinks. The deep soaker bath tub was awesome, and the roof top pool was beautiful. We bought a breakfast package, which was totally worth it — the breakfast buffet was so delicious! We had such a lovely experience from check-in straight through to check out. The only thing that we would change is access to Wi-Fi — in Canada you get unlimited Wi-Fi at hotels, but in NZ there is often a Wi-Fi limit. Our room's Wi-Fi limit was 1000 MB for 24 hours, which is actually a bit better than the other hotels we stayed at.

Average hotel but the location is within CDB. Quite accessible to the main street. Everything thing is within walking distance.

Had a banquet dinner for a wedding here and unfortunately turned out cold food and crispy pork was soggy, and the roast duck as over seasoned. Great views and location but poor service where it was hurried and impolite.

The location is great, right within the CBD and near sky tower. The connectivity with public transport is good too. The room is average though with limit of 1hr for free Wi-Fi.

We stayed for two nights. The primary reason was to attend a Conference. Every staff member (from the young man — Joel? — who helped us with our bags on arrival to the young man who bought our car from parking on leaving) performed their duties with excellence. Food at Hector's (both breakfasts and dinner) was superb. The food provided for the conference was superb. Our room was spacious and comfortable.

I waited 1 and half hours at the lobby because the room was not cleaned yet. I arrived at 2pm, which was normal check in time. There was no complimentary gift for wating for cleaning room.

We have stayed at the Heritage whenever we visit Auckland but until a recent visit were an aware of their policy of overbooking. This meant that when we arrived our confirmed internet booking was not honoured. We were offered an "upgraded" suite at a nearby sister hotel, the City Life. This hotel had none of the advantages of our original booking at the Hobson Street Heritage. The "upgraded" suite was smaller than our original booking and the bed was a queen size not the king-size. We stay at the Heritage because it has always been an excellent hotel in terms of service and amenity and in particular access to the motorway. The City Life, by contrast is almost impossible to access during peak hours as the traffic gridlocked all around the hotel. Not problem if you are on foot but a real nightmare if you have a car. In addition, the servicing of the room left a lot to be desired. If you decide to look at the Heritage in Hobson Street, be sure to confirm your booking by phone before you arrive otherwise you may find yourself receiving a level of service well below what you expect and when you are paying for.
