Reviews of Boutique Hotel Zaan 3*
Our experience at this hotel was terrible. On our arrival, we had to wait at least 15 minutes outside in front of the door before someone came to open up. There’s a restaurant inside the hotel but the staff told us that it usually takes a long time before the guy comes to welcome guests, so we just had to be patient. We were finally brought to the room and we were shocked. It was dirty everywhere, towels, bathroom, blankets, windows and floor. We even found pieces of broken glass on the floor, which is really dangerous of course and definitely not acceptable. This is the standard of every room, so we couldn’t move to another one and that one was anyway the last available. Towels are not changed daily, clean blankets are kept in a really dirty hallway and the toilet didn’t flush properly. We were told to keep the window closed during night and day, since thieves could pass by, so with the tremendous heat during those days and no air in that room (we were provided with a fan, old and dirty of course) we didn’t get any sleep at all. Breakfast is included, but I would suggest going to the café in front of the hotel if you don’t want to get sick. Food is kept in really bad conditions, even fresh food like eggs or cheese. Everything was stinky and flies were flying all over the place. I wish this was an exaggeration, but it’s not. I don’t understand how accommodations like this one still have the permission to stay open.
It's the place. A nice hotel along with a fabulous restaurant with bristling tourist.

Me and my boyfriend came to Zaanse Schans to celebrate our anniversary, so we decided to stay here.
Worst decision, for plenty of reasons.
They provide an “easy” way to check in, through an app called HOTEK. At the beginning it seems nice, since you can open the door from the app.
However, this stupid app doesn’t always work.
We were going for dinner and we stayed locked outside of the hotel, because after 7pm the main door is closed. The app is supposed to open it, but it didn’t. We called their “customer service”, and the lady simply said “so it’s not opening? That’s weird… I actually don’t know what to do then”. Since they don’t have any personnel working at the hotel at this time, I believe they expected us to sleep on the street or something.
Thank god one of the guests went to smoke and could open the door for us. We arrived late to our anniversary dinner, and we had to eat fast since the restaurant was almost closing. But no, it’s not “just” that.
First floor smelled like poop.
I could hear everything other guests were saying cause the walls are too thin.
You can’t even warm your bread at breakfast (don’t expect anything different than coffee, bread, cheese and ham).
The lady that works there during breakfast don’t speak English
You have 2 single beds instead of a matrimonial one (you have to pay extra for it).
