WOW Amsterdam Hostel Hostel

Do not go to this hotel, at first sight it is quite normal but there is a big problem with hygiene! I stayed 3 nights and was stung by bed bugs! My whole body was covered with bites, I found 3 bedbugs in the room. I could not get another mattress, or change rooms, the only solution they offered: refund me and leave the hotel. It is unacceptable. The staff is incompetent. I asked to change my sheets, they were not even changed! I had to go to the reception at 00:00 to ask them. Absolutely disgusting.

The place is so nice people are so helpful environment is clean I like it if you want to go holiday chose WoW and you will get any help you need.

BEDBUGS ALERT BEDBUGS** On the first look, this hotel is ok: free breakfast, ok Wi-Fi, clean showers, spacious rooms. The only problems is that they are filled with BEDBUGS. I had bites after the first night in their beds. Thinking it was mosquito bites I slept one more night in the same bed just to wake up with DOZEN OF BOTES ALL OVER MY BODY. Immediately, I ask for a new room, new bed and that someone go inspect the bed right away, bedbugs beeing an enormous problem and very CONTAGIOUS. I got a new room refused, a new bed refused and bascially got asked if I know what bedbugs are, how they moive how they act, implying that I am stupid. I've never felt less respected, less listened to or that my problem was not important in my whole life. Major DISRISPECT from the employees, talking over you, cutting you off, implying that you were the problem, never actually listening and caring for the pain that they given me throught the bedbugs bites. I would not recommend this Hostel, never. Even if you are on a budget, for one night before grabbing a plane, or just cause there is no other option, I WOULD NOT STAY THERE. For their lack of professionalism, incapacity to rule problems and overall disrespect. Their only solutions were: 1 — we change your linen only (no mattess, pillows what so ever) and you sleep in the SAME bed or 2 — they give me my money back for the next night if I don't wanna sleep their that night.

Has a good service, the rooms are very comfortable and the food is SO GOOD, i’m still sad that I didn’t ask for the soup recipe. But I loved everything.

WOW Amsterdam's location is okay, not super close to city central/public transportation but it's doable. The rooms and washrooms were very clean/neat, spacious and had safe/decent space for luggage storage under or near your bed. Service was good: Friendly, informative, punctual. Complimentary breakfast was decent though a bit more variety would be appreciated! Overall, best hostel I've been to, nothing much to complain :) P/S: I was surprised to see the adorable interior of this hostel. It was really colourful, which represented Amsterdam well!

The location was far enough away from the city center that I was away from the chaos but close enough for a short Uber ride. The breakfast was a good enough start to the day and is included. Pricing for a night was totally worth it and the rooms were quite comfortable. Will absolutely stay there again.

I like the combination of artist ateliers& residents and hostel. Every floor has its colour and that concept makes this old school building into a special featured hostel. Breakfast us simple (dutch style cheap bread but well the price isn't suggesting more) Also 2 double rooms which can ve booked by couples. Those are really spacious and have private shower. On the inner court you see some windows of the artist ateliers and some outside art pieces next to the veggy&herbs garden.

No good accommodation. Breakfast includes only 2 types of sausages and sometimes 1 cheese. You drink stretched orange juice or stop coffee from a cheap vending machine. The rooms go like this. Unfortunately sin in the bathrooms, provided you have one in the room sun-Sunking there are toilet and showers in the hallway, no fans why smells or the humid air of showers does not go away. And there were also exceedal hair in my bathroom. The rooms go so there are also hooded boxes and nails are burnt out of the walls, but sunny the room is inorder. The W-Lan is also good even fast us, I guess it's a 200k line.

The hostel is well equipped and comfortable. Cleanliness can be inhibited. Breakfast is also good but not as much choice. However, it's a bit on the expensive side.

It is very clean except the carpet in the entrance and one other place that smells bad.

Excellent space. Very good service and attention. It is not close to the center but the price, the place and the people are worth it. Breakfast is included and is very good (breads, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, cereals, butter, jams, etc. And of course COFFEE! )
The receptionists have very good vibes and make you feel at home no matter your language.
Rooms are bright and feature black-out curtains.
Spacious and diverse smoking spaces of "all kinds".

Dirty hotel and bad rooms. A 10 person room has only a shabby toilet and an old shower with mold on the wall. Unfortunately, very very disappointing.

It's an amazing hostel, the rooms are big enough and the bathroom is really clean. We did have an issue with the heating in the bedrooms, we would often wake up feeling cold and sometimes too hot. Not sure why it happened but, for the price and the accommodations I would definitely go back there.

The hostel is very large and has a fun and atypical visual aesthetic. Four floors of comfortable and beautiful rooms, each with its bathroom and with its color (yellow, green, red and blue). It has beautiful exteriors and cozy common spaces. You can find snack and beverage machines and for fun, a pool (which costs 2 euros) and a table football (free).
It has a nice and spacious dining room, they offer a daily breakfast from 8 to 10:30 am.
The cleaning has my Ok as I had no inconveniences.
The security method is good, you use a card to open the doors and use the elevator. That is, anyone who is not staying has no income to the flats where the rooms are located.
To improve:
-As a detail, the table football is to change. It's old and has broken parts that make it difficult to play.
-The kitchen, it is extremely small for such a large hostel. There are only 2 people and it always smelled bad.
-The rooms are extremely warm. The huge windows are useless to ventilate, as they barely open. They have no other means of ventilation.
-The location is quite uncomfortable, it is far from the center to walk.

It's not a particularly good experience… The breakfast was very simple and there were no vegetables or fruit. Ninguna verduras ni frutas, y las camas son no hay enchufa, tienes que buscarla en la hab o pasillo. El precio lye del d'a, es normal.

Decent place. Nothing special but also I have nothing negative to say. Clean and nice so far. Good price for a bed in a dormitory!

I had a ok stay at WOW, 5 nights in total.
If I wasn't there with a group of people I wouldn't even considered staying there. Rooms were fine sizes but there was a lack of electricity plugs, lamps and lockercrates for locking up your stuff. The lobby/community area was so boring and uninspiring, no bar, no real restaurant. Only 2 vending machines and a kitchen which was controlled by the rudest, most unfriendly and unpleasant men I could imagine! I know they were working, but they were so busy with keeping an eye out for rulebreakers and picking on people that made tiny mistakes that could have been avoided with signs on the buffet!
OH and the breakfast was really plain, boring and couldn't keep me full for more than half an hour!
Rest of the staff was nice, and sweet.
Overall, OK place to stay if you are OK with being stared at when you are eating breakfast.

It is a very quiet place, offers you convenience at a good price. If you are looking for a place with calm, this is right.

Great place to go with a group of friends when you are traveling. Beds are bunk beds. And the rooms have great views.
The bathrooms are very small. But as it is only a hotel to spend the night and in the day go to know.
The rooms have a low chest of beds to be able to keep things, you only have to put a padlock.
Breakfast is included.

Good hostel, clean rooms, not-that-clean toilets. Breakfast is really good and complete. Everything is charged and kitchen is really poor if you want to cook or even just heat something on the microwave. Friendly staff and great energy all around. Would go back.

Nice hostel with excellent service and a staff that always helps. The hostel is far from most of the city's attractions, but by public transport you can reach the center pretty quickly. The hostel was always clean and polished and it was fun to sit in the lobby and get to know people from all over the world.

Cons: Not a Light Switch, but Motion Detectors! Light goes on And off at Night.
Blood Stains on Heating, Duvet and Bed frame.
Staff unkind, you do not feel welcome as a Guest.
The Breakfast Buffet is an Imposition: Laby Toast and Coffee made from Concentrate — by Far the worst Buffet of any Hostel visited so far.
Unhygienic Shower, Shower head and Fittings Calcified and Residues of Shower gel.

Very good service considering there wasn't actually bed available. The lady at the front desk made a plan. I would've smoked and drank enough to sleep on the street but she made my stay a lot more comfortable. Blush there is breakfast in the morning. Start the day off well.

Even tho it isn't the cleanest hostel ever, I'd still advise you to stay there if you just want to stay in the city to visit for a short period of time. The dinner and lunch, and all the food overall is great (excluding the breakfast, which is included, that isn't bad but could be a lot better). In terms of being far from the city, I think it isn't that bad since it's like a 8 minutes walk from the bus station which will quickly take you to the center of the city. Overall it has a great quality/ price quality and I'd totally advise you if you want a place to sleep and still save some money.

It's cheap. Live four days before Christmas as long as more than 50 euro, set the female six human, the first two nights a person sleeps 24 flat Big room, cool ~ floor very high room good big berth also has a lot of space. Fast speed signal good room clean. The breakfast is free and the restaurant is very lively. Some inconvenient is the toilet light induction is not so sensitive, bedside plug in the back of the bed, the elevator is one, bus station and subway station must walk more than 10 minutes. For the big room and the espresso in the free breakfast, it's worth the price.

I stayed at WOW with a few friends for 5 days. The price is fair for what is provided. We got a room just for us, as there was 6 of us, and we only had to share the bathroom with each other. Breakfast included as well. The place is well decorated and has easy access to public transportation. Also staff was brilliant, letting us leave our luggage in a safe storage room before check-in and after checkout. The only negative thing I have to point out is finding bite marks on my body, a different one each day. After reading comments of other guests complaining about bedbugs, leads me to think that it was probably what bit me. Strangely enough, none of my friends complained of the same… Anyhow, I leave this feedback so that staff can keep an eye on it.
To sum up, I was generally really pleased with my stay and the mattresses were seriously comfortable!

Good value for money, not very far from the main attractions but not very close either. Bicycle rental here was good, I was able to visit all the places on my list through bicycle. Staff could have been friendlier, overall a good experience in a budget price. Breakfast was OK.

If you are used to life in a Group and have no Problems with strangers, The Hostel is highly recommended for you. Cleanliness, Clarity and Friendliness of the Staff are to be commended.

Don't expect anything and you won't be disappointed. Nothing is included in the price apart from breakfast that basically consist out of toast and some topping. The place it self is alright and kept in good shape. But overall the value for money is rather poor.

Great hostel in the southern suburbs of the city, the staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms and services in general are not up to par with the price.

Looks from the inside like a School and also the Bathrooms remind me of those of a School. Breakfast consists of 2 Cold Cuts and 2 Types of Jam. You have to queue for 5 min to have breakfast and there are no Buns, just Toast. There is a Taxi ride, from €20€, from the City centre and the Hostel is not exactly located in the most beautiful Area of Amsterdam.

Nice, there are few tram station really close so you can be in the city centre in a minute! Colourful creative place with great people! And the breakfast is also good reason whz pick this hostel!

We stayed twice in this hostel in the beginning of our trip and at the end of the trip. We rented family room. In our first visit overall was fine, except for the fact that we moved in, and there was one crumpled bed and had someone else's plate with the date of departure the next day. At the reception we were to scramble the card and the room replaced the bed. From the pros: bed was clean, rooms clean, reception round the clock. From the negative: during our second visit we were put in room 407. When we woke, one man from our company was found in your bed bug. We began to check everything, and found bugs in the other bed and behind the curtain. Moreover, in the frame of one of the beds had traces of a past life of bugs: i. E. It was evident that they were not the first day. We took pictures of everything and went down to the Desk. In the room a woman came, inspected and said that we brought the bedbugs, since they monitor the cleanliness and the ceiling sprinkled some kind of powder. In response to our observation that clearly was here before the bugs that could leave offspring, she said she used to be, they were poisoned and now it is impossible to start the engine but if it is we brought. For their part, they suggested us to change the bed, wash room. And it was done. In the evening we went, it smelled like bleach. We searched ALL of our stuff, found nothing. We had another night.

Good place to stay for a few nights in Amsterdam if you are young and sociable. It's close to the Sloterdijk train station, so it's very convenient to get to the Schiphol airport and to the Central station. Typical breakfast (cornflakes, sandwich, coffee) is included. You will need own lock for storage box (you can buy it at the reception). A socket splitter would be also useful. There is nowhere to hang clothes in the shower room.

Its really awesome place and all are the staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is really great and the bed is so comfortable. You have to walk a bit inside from the main road but Its really worth choosing this hostel. They offer really a great breakfast and its really worth. I really miss this lovely place and hope to come soon once again.

Nice place, friendly staff, basic rooms, clean, basic breakfast. If you go out for dinner the restaurant Meram is nearby and very nice. Only thing I was missing was chairs in the rooms.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about. This place has great prices and good location to Amsterdam and Sloterdijk Train station. The free morning breakfast is awesome! And I met great people here to hang out with. The court yard is a great place to chill. The rooms have large lockers under the bed and lots of space in the shared rooms.

Cozy hostel clean and young, for lonely traveller or family! Kind staff and spacious room with shower ad bathroom inside the room! Sometime the staff organise some concept or artistic activity and representation! Unfortunately no kitchen but a good breakfast! Anyway… Great time at WOW HOSTEL!

The location of this Hostel is quite far from the City center but nearby the Sloterdijk station which is also cool. Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The staff is nice even though the people in the kitchen not so much.

The price matches the quality. The yellow floor is very stuffy and hot though the air was fresh.

Helpful staff, good breakfast, clean rooms, spacious common areas for sitting inside and outside. A tiny common kitchen. 40 minutes to walk into central Amsterdam. Bicycles and public transport are convenient options. 5 minutes walk to grocery stores.

Staff at reception are super friendly and have great English! Lockers are located under your bed and they are big enough to fit a whole suitcase, but bring your own padlock. The breakfast buffet is free and they have a magical moving toast machine that honestly blew my mind. It's very artsy and vibrant there too. It was all going great, until bed bugs decided to chomp into my limbs. No thanks.

It's a little far away from the city center. But it's still in a nice part that's very quiet. It's really big as well.

We had a great time. With a few euros we were here … Breakfast included, close to transportation, neighborhood with everything. Large and spacious bathrooms. To be redone!

I once served time in a maximum security prison in Russia and I would honestly say my time there was more pleasant then my stay at the wow Amsterdam hostel, I left around 80 euro in my room for around three hours and when I returned there was no money left and there was a Syrian refugee in my bed. Also they ring the fire alarm at 6 am every morning to wake everyone up for green bread and warm water, also the lift broke which I was trapped in for 9 hours and missed my flight.

When corporate hotel business and trendy ideas get together you come up with the WOW Amsterdam. The place is huge, and it's very impersonal. There is only a small fridge for the whole building, no real kitchen. The living room is an open area with a TV playing regular dutch tv, what's arty about that? There are big tables to hang out and also some tables at the back and chilling areas in front too. Sure the exhibits are nice, the history of the building is cool (it used to be a technical school) Bedrooms were clean and big, bed was "ok", individual rolling lockers, no individual electrical outlets and there is one bathroom per room. WOW is far from the city center public transportation takes 20 minutes to Centraal, and there is nothing in the neighbourhood. Considering high cost, the distance from the center, a place not so cool as they make it out to be I wouldn't consider coming back.

Staff was unfriendly, — no Parking, — rooms were during our 5 days stay never clean!, we always had pressure to give rooms clean, but what has never worked. — in case of bad weather (strong wind and rain), it was clearly too loud!, could not sleep well, — only Breakfast is included, which is reluctant to eat, because everyone hostelbewohner when buffelt with the same Cutlery has taken (which is sometimes in the mouth, was taken to lick) Wi — Fi didn't work, only in the foyer + in order to rest it is appropriate + at least there was Breakfast.

Dont stay. Look, they fucked me over hard core. Came up to our room to find the bed moved (? ) and my stuff re arranged and some other girls things all over my bed. They don't apologize! They said the system made a mistake and smiled, as if this was normal. The location is shit, the staff isn't nice, there's no ambiance or community. The location really sucks, so you know, a good walk from transit, this place isn't worth the money you save by staying less centrally located. Ignore that "artists" bullshit it's a WASTE OF MONEY. This place sucks. Maybe if they refund me tomorrow I'll be more nice in my review but as of now, they've sucked.

Hostel that is also the residence of students. Very good atmosphere. Very modern, large and nice rooms and comfortable beds. Small bathroom. Very good customer service at the front desk. Very economical and breakfast included in the price. Pretty section of the centre and also to public transport (more than 1km from the bus stop). I recommend.

It's okay. "Chaos at the counter" is what I remember first when I think about this hostel. Administration and the people from the counter are lost in their own computer system. They booked the money 2 times from my bank account. Still waiting for my money. Kind of sad. (-1) The Rooms: We slept in a mix 6 bed room. It was really clean and the mattress way super cosy. We had a shower on the room. Water was warm. Temperature on the room was a bit to cold and the heaters were switched off. (0) Breakfast: Really not worth it. The bread that they offered us was the most weird bread I have ever seen in my life. (-1) Price: We paid 45 € per night (high season). Extras: Free Wi-Fi! Bike rentals (in comparison the other rentals in the city, quite expensive) Info: If you check out DON'T FORGET YOUR PILLOW COVER! ;-) In total I wouldn't recommend this to my friends.
