International Budget Hostel City Center Hostel

Even they charge me the amour of the reservation they force us to pay again when we get there and claim they will return my money to my account but it’s been more than a week and still I don’t have my money back, horrible option to stay.

Clean room, good staff and the people here. But small toilets.

A very good hostel in the heart of the center amsterdam, the staff very friendly the rooms very clean.

The place is very expensive and is not for budget travel at all. They charge you for everything even for towels although they are charging too much on a per person basis. Also they place is very congested and rooms are small. Positive point is the staff is very friendly and helpful and also the hostel & the washrooms were clean.

The place is really good and the staff very kindly. Doesn't have elevator and the playroom smell like a cigarette that's why four stars.

This hostel is not a family-friendly hostel, especially for a family with lots of luggage. The stairs up from the street are small and steep so carrying luggage up and down was frightening. Most of the people we saw who stay there are younger so they are up late at night making noise so sleep was hard to come by. The uncomfortable beds and linens did not help sleep either. Comparing all of this with the price we paid, it was a not a good deal. On the positive side, the staff was incredibly friendly and the bathrooms and showers were cleaned on a very regular basis.

The highlight is the communal lounge. The rooms are ready for hostel with beds and have little natural light. There are extra toilets and showers on the aisle.
Prices are ok!

The rooms were small but good for what we got. Pretty nice although the stairs we're very steep which was a little risky with suitcases. The receptionists were really nice and very helpful. The showers are we're also nice but the layout was very tight. Same with the bathrooms. But they were very good about cleaning everything. And it's in a perfect location — walking distance from everything and a mile from Amsterdam Centraal station.

It was pretty good. Nice food. Staff was friendly. Clean rooms.

Can't say I had a fine experience at the place. Wouldn't fault the people at reception for most of the experience, but it was still a horrid experience for me. When I first arrived, I was greeted by a narrow corridor, that lead to a staircase that better resembled a ladder. Not a place to go if you've got luggage with you. Was greeted by friendly counter staff, that were quick and efficient. Upon reaching my room, another level up a slightly less horrid staircase, I realised that they gave me the wrong room. We booked and paid for a room with an attached shower. We were given one without that. No issue, they gave us a new room after we pointed out the error. Now, the room. Three double decker beds squeezed in a room the size of a small hotel room. Thin mattresses and worn out pillows. Two small windows overlooking the canal, with a decent view, but spoiled by the unrelenting fresh supply of smoke. A fine assortment of both tabacco and weed. The street below was plenty noisy the whole night long. The only luxury were the attached showers. No toilets included. The shower was, in contrast, spacious, well lit, and clean. This was the only saving grace. This hostel was more expensive than much more upmarket places outside Amsterdam. I suppose this was the price one would pay for it's reasonable central location. Given the price and living conditions, if I were to visit Amsterdam again, I would choose to live outside the city and take a train or bus in.

Check in and out were uncomplicated, staff was nice and helpful. Bed — and bathrooms were clean. Would stay again.

Cheap, easy and great price comsidering how close it is to the centre! Would recommend!

It is just a Hostel with large Dormitories. Clearly, you don't sleep as well as you do in a Single Room. It costs so little Money for that. And the Staff are Super-friendly. Smoking Lounge is also chilly. With a view of the Prince'S Cargo.

The name says it all. Great location. Heaps of stairs. No elevator. Noisey. There is a smoking area indoors. That was good. Either be baked out of your mind or take earplugs with you.

Good location, good deal for the guys at reception. The bad thing is that they do not let you know until you are done check-in, that you have to make a deposit of €15 and if you do not return the card you charge.

Lousy bathrooms. Past marijuana.

The hostel took advantage of the Amsterdam dance event to apply exorbitant rates: 70 euros per night. Shabby room. Staff who insult in Spanish. We were thrown out of the room at 10am with threats to pay €50 more if we hadn't left the room within 10 min. Flee this hostel!

Pro: — location is top-friendly staff-toilet and shower are clean and relatively chic-most important utensils are directly in the hostel to buy-lockers directly in the room counter:-Mattresses very thin-common room relatively small-smoking room is very dirty-very steep and close to the stairs.

Good for money and for people who wants to get some rest. But the atmosphere quiet noisy and their room small.

They are true to their word, a hostel with limited amenities but it is cheap and has the basics. Was waiting for about 20 — 30 minutes before being able to check in at the desk, otherwise it was fine.

Perfect for what it's name states. It is a budget hostel. Not clean at all and it is very cramped, but the location is nice and the staff are helpful.

Rooms are okay. Bathrooms are insanely small: the sinks are really really tiny and washing your hands becomes a challenging task. Staff members are friendly. Would recommend this only when travelling with a group of friends in a low budget scheme.

Well it's pretty tiny and limited for a Dutch place. Don't love to have my pillow less than 10 cm to the next persons pillow. Also there is no place where I can dress besides of a tiny toilet where there isn't a dry spot or hooks to hang my clothes. Showers are also pretty tiny. Doors are so heavy that you kinda have to eat a stake to open them. Consequence: noisy doors.
Toilet was not exactly dirty. But since so many people share the same, it would be nice to have a desinfectante option…

I'd say for 80€/3 nights WITHOUT BREAKFAST there is some room for improvement.
Despite the less nice things it's pretty well localized, has good Wi-Fi and lockers to keep your stuff safe.

This hostel is usually available for one night if needed. The hostel is clean and is in a very good area. However, the washrooms are very small, and have no hooks to hang your clothes on. The mirrors are also very small in the washrooms, it gets very difficult to get ready there. No mirrors in the room as well. Don't forget to take a lock and a towel!

Not my favourite hostel but affordable for the location. Basically, the facitilites are outdated, the doors are very loud when they close, no plugs or lights next to the beds and there was no door or curtain on the shower area in our room (except for the actual shower area… so where are you supposed to change and not get your clothes wet).

Incredibly small bathrooms, paper thin walls, shaky beds. You need a 15 euro deposit to get a card key and the lockers in the rooms are really crusty border line unsafe. It's an okay place if you just need a place to sleep, drop your luggage off and find a really cheap deal for it.

I come to this hostel every time I am in Amsterdam and they are available, great service and close to almost every thing.

This was one of my favorite hostels. The room we had was a triple bed in the attic. We did have to share toilets and shower, but there was a sink in the room which was very helpful. Overall a clean and awesome place to stay.

Well, it's a hostel, so don't expect fancy room with king-size bed. Towels are provided by extra 2 EUR each. In general, that's an ok option for a couple of nights in Amsterdam. Location is central, the staff is super friendly.

The price is fair but the only problem are the doors making so much sounds. You can hear doors slamming from the entire place but it's clean and the people working there are really nice.

Close to everything. Very clean. Bathroom and shower and sink all seperate in ever room. Modern bathroom and shower. Comfortable beds, hotel like pillows. Great hostel.

Cheap hostel in a good location. But don't expect much, it's nothing fancy. Staff was okay, but a bit unfriendly. I liked that the beds were already made. I didn't like the smoking room, since the whole hostel smelled like weed.

The room was reasonable, showers were nice and hot and bed was comfortable. But the price seemed quite high for the location. Staircase between Ground and First floor was also rather steep and not for those scared of heights!

The hotel is very beautiful and the rooms are clean with a nice petsonnel however far too burning the doors are very heavy and slamming all night. And the worst is the heat in the room … I slept very badly because far too hot.

First time in a hostel and I loved it! Nice and helpful staff, they gave me every information about the hostel and the city. The reception is good equipped with fridge, microwave and kettle, but also with a lot of souvenirs that in the shops were finally more expensive! There is also a nice smoking room with television and a really nice view on the canal perfect for chilling out. All around there are restaurants, bars and coffee shops, but you can also get to the centre in 10 minutes. Really would recommend this place!

Cheap but very well kept and organized. Never had any problems.

Too expensive for what it offers. The bathtub is very slippery and I had to raise my leg all the way up to my chest line in order to get in. We specifically asked for separated beds both upon reservation and again upon check in. When we got to the room there were two twin beds, but they were displayed together. Our room view was terrible. All we could see was another building. All of this wouldn't have bothered me, had the price of the stay been much lower. I don't recommend this hotel.

Ease of access and location. Terrible Wi-Fi. The plumbing system kept on making strange noises. Would expect better service for that kind of money.

Excellent value for money — nothing over the top in terms of what you get but the beds are comfy, the showers work and the staff are friendly. Overall the IBH is a fantastic choice to stay in and one I'd thoroughly recommend.

Pretty good deal, price and location. Good if you have to do a night and then go to Charleroi.

We were a group travelling together and had a 7 bed room. Room was clean, private shower but no private bathroom 4 stars for the room. My complaint is the fact the entire hotel smells of pot. The staircase that leads to the floors smell and so did our room. There is a smoking area on the 1st floor however it is directly below the room windows. Even if you try to air out the weed smell, every time someone lights up downstairs, it smells in the room. Otherwise it is well situated and price is reasonable for Amsterdam.

If you read one review, read this one. Overall: With the word "budget" in the name, I didn't come in expecting much. I just wanted a clean place to stay at night and sleep, maybe meet some people. While the cleaning staff does an excellent job keeping floors/bathroom/beds clean, the rooms are comically small for 6 people and their luggage. Also, the whole hostel is extremely loud which makes it nearly impossible to sleep. Pros: 1) Bathrooms/showers/floors are cleaned daily. 2) Location isn't bad. Reasonably priced compared to Airbnb's and hotels (which in the area are ~$200/night) Cons: 1) The rooms are extraordinarily small to fit 6 people. Most people keep their luggage on their bed because there isn't enough room to even put it on the floor and be able to walk around. The beds definitely won't fit anyone over 5'10" without having your feet dangle into the next person's bed, meaning you play lots of awkward accidental footsie at night. When anyone moves the bed creaks and shakes in a way that makes you think the whole thing will collapse. 2) My room had a shower, but no door, which made for some interesting moments since the room is mixed male/female. For rooms without a shower, you have to share with the whole floor, which when the hostel is booked means there is 1 shower for 25 people. 3) Unless you smoke (I don't) there is no common space other than the smoking room to meet fellow travelers.

To see… to spend 2 days well, because in addition to what I found cheap by booking, but then it occurred to me to lift the cover of the mattress and almost vomiting, that if it was cheap and two minutes away from the downtown area.

Good location, about a 10 minute walk from the museum district. The 197 bus goes from the airport to just outside the hotel. Room and hotel were nice, housekeeping were quite noisy early in the morning though.

Great hotel conveniently located close to the Center and Metro. Breakfast is salty than sweet. Friendly staff. Medium/high price.

GREAT people. Both employees and guests have been fantastic. However, the facilities leave something to be desired. We stayed in an 8-bed room. Way too few electrical outlets — one, maybe two? Not sure how many total beds but our whole floor had four rooms and had to share 2 toilets/sinks and 1 shower. That being said, it was a great location. The best affordable hostel we could find within the canals. And The George cafe just two doors down is incredible!

Clean, friendly welcome, clean room and comfortable beds. The neighborhood is quiet and close to everything. However, there is no kitchen and the number of showers remains reduced. Big negative point, pay by credit card entails a surcharge of 5%!

Very bad experience. It started by the hotel giving our prepaid room away. We arrived at 3am only to find out that the hotel was overbooked. We had to drive at night for 20 minutes to another NH hotel. Next day we checked out from temporary hotel at 12 pm but this hotel could not give us a room not until 3pm. Next day the Wi-Fi in the hotel did not work all day. This hotel does not have any parking. Avoid.

Really get what you pay for. Dingy, small, unairconditioned rooms, steep steps (really steep), rock hard beds and a coat of paint wouldn't go a miss. But at the end of the day it's about the city and not the room and if your looking at cheap rooms it's not bad location wise, and for the smokers there's a nice quiet coffee shop right across the road.

It`s beautiful, but not that well located and is expensive. Also has no facilities, no descent kitchen, no place to store your bier… Also they force you to check out between 9 and 10. At then they wake everybody up! Damm it! I would not return here.

THis is not a top-quality luxury hotel. But it gives exactly whay you need from an hotel. Good counter service, Nice clean rooms in a good location no too close to the centrum but in a 10 minutes walk.

Quite a good low budget hotel. You don't get anything special, but the rooms are clean and everything is usable. The showers have a pretty low water pressure, but that is because of our room in the 4th floor.

Made our stay in Amsterdam very pleasant. First of all, great location. Hygienic rooms and bathrooms. Beds were comfortable, we experienced no difficulty sleeping which I cant say for many other hostels I have stayed at. Overall great and affordable hostel and would recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

Great place the smoking room was real good they offer also free Wi-Fi we paid 17 euro.

Hello, we are two friends that we went to the Hotel Princess. The first thing I must say that it is not a Hotel but a Hostel. Let's begin with the good: The location is pretty good, close to center, tram, and environment. The price is pretty cheap, so I always recommend people wishing to travel in plan crappy! Is the Hostel to go with colleagues, go in couples, because the rooms are all in bunk beds. The bad? As many things! To get cost us to find it, for the door of the entrance wanted unnoticed, the attention of the regular staff, stairs very steep! Should not be older people! Put that there is a kitchen, and there is not! Just a microwave, a fridge and something to cook just to the side of reception where everyone that wanted sees you! The sheets very dirty, exo, I get asked that I will change. There was no problem! Score? As a 6, assuming that is super cheap. Compared to the rest of the pension, and it is very good located… it can happen! But what was said! Only páso (lodge type) … and knowing the people what is written on the forum! :) I hope to contribute something to your choice! :)

This motel sucks. Breakfast yesterday canceled, but still be mandatory spending. Take advantage of the time we are not without our permission to our room changed. Dutch hotel is that so? Anyway, I will not go live in that hotel, disgusting, poor countries.

The shared toilet was flooded when we arrived. I mentioned it and the receptionist said he'd have it fixed the following day and that we were to use the shared bathroom on the floor above. However, it smelled pretty bad and I persisted for quite a while and so he upgraded us to a room with a private bathroom. Other guests were not so fortunate though. I think they had to stay in their room next to a smelly flooded toilet and I don't think it got fixed during the 3 days we were there. One the positive side: Apart from the toilet, which management did eventually resolve for us, the place is basic but clean enough.

Well what impressions who arrived only a couple of hours sleep to go, who to museums and to bed early I do not advise.

Well I have just got home and I can honestly say this is a grate place to stay the staff are really friendly and helpful also I travelled by my self so havin the chill room was grate got to meet some amazing new friends will be defiantly staying again :)

Horrible. The pension "La Cana" is a great pleasure to the side of this. Very dirty. I was 3 nights and the room was not spent nor the TATO to clean. It was warm that you will die and if you open the window, pass the tram at 7 in the morning non-stop to 20 mts. Yes, you a fan of toy that can be placed on top of the sink, which is attached to the bed, and if you are lucky you are not falling to the middle of the night as you sleep something. The bathroom and shower are outside, to share with those who walk by there. Carpeted floors, as not cleaned, it can contain any type of wildlife. The stairs need a rope to help you climb, if you have practiced via ferratas take the harness. The reception is better or talking about it, you could put a photo that you did, but I don't want to scare the staff. The only good thing I could say for the hotel is that it is more or less well located. Nearby there is a spectacular park. And you can rent the bike to the other side of the street, it is best to move. The rest of things… I will NOT return there. Bye. Bye Princess!

One of the cheapest alternative to sleep in (expensive) Amsterdam. You can compare the prices, for 22. — you'll find nothing and its very near from the city. Due to Bob's Hostel doesnt offers a booking option, I always found a bed there. Don't push so much expectations, it's really a bed and you can meet people from all over the world. Actually one of the best hostels for a weezy/party weekend. Schraubt eure Erwartungen nicht zu hoch, es handelt sich um einen Hostel, und für den Preis von 22. — € kriegt ihr wirklich nichts im Stadtzentrum. Ich hab schon paar male dort geschlafen, die Lage ist einfach top und die internationalen Gästen machen den Flair aus, genau deshalb geht man auch zu Bob.

It is not luxury, it is for sleeping. The shared rooms are good and for 10 euros the night give me sheets and I changed all the days of towels, you can't ask for more.

This is not a hotel, it is like a hole for roaches. Room tiny. Very noisy of a night for teenagers q spend the night there after coming from holiday. Anything recommended. That is why it is cheap.

Hotel not far from the centre. It is the best option I have found for sleep. 15€ per night, 4 beds per room, so you can meet people. I recommend it highly as option cheap. And it has Wi-Fi.
