This is by far the best budget hotel myself and my girlfriend have been to, challenging others in all areas. The standard double is great, huge bathroom, and the garden is amazing to eat breakfast in with the wild parrots (yes in Amsterdam).

Amazing location, you’re about a 10 minute walk from the city and all shops. All staff members bar one, who I think was the owner were all very nice and friendly. I would not recommend staying here for a long period of time, I stayed for 5 nights and really struggled with our room; it was incredibly small. We didn’t even have a double bed, like requested. It was two singles pushed up against each other. The shower room was basically a wet room and the water from the shower would spread close to the toilet. Also, the temperature of the room was boiling hot. Me and my partner found we needed to keep all windows open all day and night for us to be comfortable in there. Breakfast was nice, not a wide range of selection but enjoyable. The outdoors area seemed very nice from what I saw but didn’t venture out there myself. I personally wouldn’t recommend staying here with a partner or for a long period of time but overall enjoyed my firs time visit to Amsterdam.

Location was great. I booked through a travel agent and requested a double en suite room. What we got was 2 single beds that had been pushed together — not even a double duvet. The room was very small and old looking but clean. Our shower room was horrific, it was practically a wet room meaning if you wanted to use the facilities in the hours after the shower you would have to wear shoes. The shower it self was probably the most disappointing shower i’ve ever used — I may as well have been nosed down. breakfast wasn’t great — we stayed for 5 nights and found ourselves having to eat croissants every day. in the night we found the hotel to be overly warm — visiting in the first week of may there was no need to any heating to be in but as soon as you walk through the door it felt as if the dry air had hit you in the face, you then had to spend 2 hours with the windows open as much as possible to cool the room down. most staff were very friendly and helpful other than 1 who seemed rude arrogant and unhealthful!

I was in the hotel very clean. Sociable staff and very edu ato the proprietor. The breakfast was great To come back again. Place near Dam Square and center.

It was supposed to be a romantic long weekend. Well… the room was horrible, weird stains all around the toilet and when I checked the bed I found an ass hair. We asked for another room … a clean one. The owner refused. He became very rude. I explained him that we always inspect our room before checking in, to me it s a normal process. We decided to not stay there but we ve been charged on our credit card. The owner want us to pay the first night, we only stay in the room 15 min to inspect! AVOID.

Do not stay here if you plan on working at night or staying up past 10pm. Very strange situation. On the second day of our stay I arrive from a meal at 10pm to a rather flustered hotel owner telling me to immediately pay my open hotel tab of 20 euros, He told me that he had been waiting for me to arrive. Even though check out was the next day I obliged and handed him the card I used to pay for the booking, he demanded I pay in cash so I was left scrambling for coins in my pockets. I arrive to a freezing cold room with no heating, I call the manager and he walks in, turns the T. V off and totally ignores the heating problem. He rudley tells me not talk or have the television on in the room as there is a family with a baby in the next room and as they pay more per night these are the rules. Then I am told to not use the balcony and to have a cigarette I must go out through the hotel and stand outside. When reminded about the heating problem he tells me that we can go and see the night staff later on or tomorrow and try and get an extra blanket if they have one. To add insult to injury I find out my credit card has been charged twice for the room and now the owner is nowhere to be found! Never before have I been treated like this in hundreds of work stays all over Europe. Night staff are very helpful and courteous. But the owner is rude and obstinate. Now I am unable to work from my hotel room and make any conference calls for fear of being left on the street at 1am.

Very cozy. Rooms for two. They are small (as in all Amsterdam) excellent breakfast. Staff good vibes.

Well, for the location, very quiet and close to places you like to visit.

A simple but cosy hotel. It is super well located and easily accessible by public transport. The breakfast buffet is sufficient, nothing special but completely okay. Unfortunately, the bathroom is in a not so good condition, something "came down" and not very well cleaned. The staff here is really friendly throughout. We even had a small balcony, from which you can easily watch the parrots. I think these come from the nearby park.

Great location Central area away from the chaotic shopping streets, well served by public transport. Good comfor Although the room they had was a little chilly. Good and plentiful breakfast and buffet. Excellent reception speaking recepionist Italian language kind and helpful.

The rooms were nice, but a bit pricey. Ok distance to the town centre. Breakfast was great. But… The staff were very rude. I left my keycard in my room, and when I attempted to get back in the hotel I was dressed down and shouted at in front of the other guests. It was like the headmaster's office all over again.

So… I kinda enjoyed this hotel. Let me be real with you and take you through the good and the bad: Good: 1) The breakfast: the salted eggs were a firm favourite with our group; the vegan was not offended and barely mentioned battery farming techniques throughout the weekend. A real win! 2) The ambiance: Room 40 had a pretty intense vibe. It’s not for everyone but for us ot was a pretty intense experience. Bad: 1) The guy with the glasses was an absolute tool if you made the (fairly forseeable) error of forgetting your keycard whilst running errands. 2) There was a woman with a yellow jumper who walked around like she owned the place. Despite a formal complaint to that effect we (all of us) still felt her negative aura the next day. All things considered I would definitely recommend the Prinsen Hotel.

The only thing we can find wrong is that there is no coffee making facilities in the rooms. Unless you can sleep til half 7 in the morning you are going without after breakfast until the next day unless you pay 2 euro 50 for s coffee.

Cool, traditional stay in Amsterdam. The breakfast is diverse and pretty good. Some rooms have gardens, which in summer ia lovely for taking breakfast outside. Rooms are small and the guy from reception is more than familiar and friendly.

Very disappointed with this property. I had stayed in a hotel further down the same street and thought I would find the same standard but unfortunately not. Very small room and no soundproofing. Out of age bedding and bathroom/WC very small. Minimum breakfast. Just acceptable for a few nights on a business trip for a price yet close to the competition.

Hotel is in an excellent location & service fantastic. Only problem is noisy doors to rooms & guests. Highly recommend.

I would not recommend this Hotel for any Indian or Asian tourist for the sheer racism and snobbishness that we faced here. I would just narrate my experience here for the readers to make a judgement on their own. The hotel had a 'Tours and Tickets' booklet kept at the Reception with the same booklet being also kept inside our Hotel Room as well. We checked into the Hotel in the late afternoon and went through this 'Tours and Tickets' booklet with various tours and their prices mentioned in the booklet. We selected an activity that we wanted to experience that evening in Amsterdam and went down to the Hotel Reception. I greeted and gently asked the guy at the Reception about that particular activity and where can I get the tickets. Upon this the Receptionist very rudely replied that "I have nothing to do with this". Surprised at this rude response I asked the reason why the booklet is prominently kept everywhere and even inside the Hotel Rooms. To this again he rudely replied that the Tour Company no longer exists and he has no knowledge of the booklet. I showed him the booklet and asked if the Tour Company no longer exists then what is the purpose of keeping the booklet inside the Hotel rooms if one cant book the tour. At this he got too agitated and stated that "You are lucky to get a Hotel in this location for today". This superciliousness and arrogance was too much of us and we simply left thanking him for his help.

Hotel old but very well preserved. Excellent care of the concierges and especially during breakfast and in the hygiene of the room.

Some rooms have no curtain to obscure daylight. The rooms are still with old keys, only 1 per room…

Small hotel and high prices and there is no one that carry on the luggage.

A little expensive 288th 2 nights very small room but functional hotel quiet relatively clean breakfast included and staff very pleasant and helpful. No free parking 36euros the day around…

Very nice quiet hotel near Leidseplein with a friendly staff and comfortable affordable rooms. I'd give it a 5 star rating if they improved the breakfast area, which is really rather small.

Quiet and strategic location: conveniently reachable by bus from the airport, close to the city centre and the museums. Economical, bathroom and dated finishes.

Rooms are a little bit old, specially notice on the bathroom, but comfortable and with helpful nice staff. Breakfast is OK, and has a nice terrace on the back. The zone is very quiet, and there are a lot of culture atractions, like museums.

Nice hotel and service. The location is top. Room and bathroom was somewhat small but bearable. Breakfast decent no frills. Tip early stand up there are fewer places in the lobby for breakfast as rooms. ) when the hotel is crowded it will be tight.

The second time I have stayed here. The rooms are basic, but sufficient. There is free Wi-Fi, login details are in the back of the hotel folder in each room. Breakfast is fine. There is a park close by and lots of restaurants.

Perfectly located (200m from vibrant night life spot Leidseplein, yet in a completely quiet side street) and with friendly staff. Rooms are rather basic, but ours was clean. Breakfast had a reasonable selection of meat, cheese, white and dark bread, etc. — best of all: no ugly filter coffee, but free, good espresso, latte, cappuchino, etc. For no surcharge! lost one star because of MISSING internet! (comercial Wi-Fi hotspot at ridiculously high prices does count as NO Wi-Fi. — you'd end up better checking your mails on roaming 3G. plus. In the end it's rather pricey (book on internet agents — they have heavy discounts! ).
