We had a beautiful lady help us with our check in we arrived very early and did not expect our room tone available but she made it happen for us. We were absolutely delighted.

The hotel itself is nice, but the restaurant really is not what it used to be. Basically only burgers and the most plain food that you can find everywhere else, only then in a super salty and over priced version. Avoid at all costs.

Good location near Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh and Stedelijk. Good public transport in neighborhood. Nice hotel and food. Hotel mostly run by students. You have to that not at a 5 star rating.

This can be both a good and ugly place. The garden outside is a nice location with a few table and nice atmosphere. The inside however is ugly and not cozy so my recommendation is to visit this place only if the weather is nice. Cocktails and alcohol in general are expensive.

Reviewing the Cafe: no offense to the young guys working there, but it's not the first time we go there and get either the order wrong, or it takes ages for things to arrive. It's a nice place, but the service is done by students so if you can manage the lack of experienced proper service… You will be ok.

The service are all beginners here, so be patient! They try their best. I've only had coffee here, and it's pretty good.

Location is fantastic but the food is insanely low quality. If you look at the venue you don’t expect the mini hamburger to be a shop bought brown bun with a leaf of lettuce, slice of tomato and a bit of mayo. The pizza looked like it was a shop bought pizza with a bit of extra cheese. It’s a shame that a place this nice doesn’t invest in a normal restaurant. You should stay in the hotel, drink a beer on the terrace but leave the food menu on the table. Please hire a good chef.

Went for Easter breakfast. Food was good and plentiful. Coffee was okay. Setting was a little weird (hay on floor)

Nice, nice, stylish hotel, unfortunately not very centrally located. Clean and classy. Sunday Brunch unfortunately with little choice, priced quite high. But still feel good.

Nice boutique hotel in which to be trained. Dark but nice atmosphere, walking is fast at the Museumplein. At its end (facing the hotel) there is also the nearest supermarket underground.

The food was amazing and the price was reasonable. I went here for an Eastern Brunch and the selection was pretty good. The service was great as well. We even got a small gift when we left.

I went here for a business event and was really pleased with the amazing service. I walked up to one of the staffmembers and said I needed a fully intact pineapple. Within 2 minutes, I had a pineapple in my hands, no questions asked.

The staff are all helpful and polite. The food in the restaurant is very good. We had a free room upgrade which was wonderful. The only negative feedback for me is that the bathroom door handles are hard to use with arthritic hands. So easy to walk to the museums and trams stop outside (or you can rent a bike from the hotel). Will definitely stay again!

Excellent Hotel, did everything possible to make our stay the best it could be, friendly helpful staff, lovely rooms and great value for money, can’t recommend enough.

Warm reception, was offered a free drink on arrival, room spacious, free water, tea and coffee in the room, nice atmosphere.

The bar has a fancy atmosphere, drinks are ok but prices tend to be a bit high.

Great committed young trainees who can learn, test and do this with a heart-building. We liked it very much and we liked to have a nice look over small "stumblers". Everyone has finally started somewhere.
Great rooms, fine cozy bar — great building in tasteful remodeling; Be the Jana us of a school. My husband and I will come to Amsterdam once again and of course we'll be back here again.

Wants to pass for a high-end establishment while the whole is very disappointing… Gloomy decor, insufficient lighting, defective plumbing, room without window — refused — the second will be equipped with only a fixed canopy… Staff smiling and friendly but that is completely beside the plate in most cases… Example at the restaurant 7:30 (open for half an hour) we wash the stone floor in the middle of the breakfast tables… A huge stream of cold air, one asks that an employee closes the door she comes back five minutes later having totally forgotten… The coffee ordered arrives painfully in ten minutes while there are almost no customers… There is only the manager who looks competent… And when I present my remarks directly to the check out… It is always explained to me with the smile that it is because of the concept of the hotel: to use only students!

Nice hotel, comfy rooms and close to museums. Employee are very young. They are very kind a d nice but need to be trained more.

"upgraded" to room 118, an accessible room located directly above the toilets and dish area of the restaurant. The banging of doors shocked us from the beginning of slumber until well after 1am. If you do choose to stay here for the reasons we did—proximity to museums, bike rental—do not let the unfriendly staff put you in 118.

The College Hotel is situated consentiently around 20 minutes tram ride (routes 5 and 24) from Amsterdam Central train station but is even closer to many of the city's famous sites and places of interest. As an aside, the tram ride is fantastic and gives you a great flavour of Amsterdam as you travel. The staff at the College Hotel are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is beautifully decorated in a style that is somehow both sophisticated and charming. My room was well appointed (the desk not only had a multi device plug adaptor buy also USB ports to assist with charging my electrical goods. The amenities for the shower were all fair trade which I liked. The Wi-Fi was excellent, indeed I worked in the room during one of my days stay and relaxed there both evenings and had no issues with the speed or the connectivity at all. Top marks. I was on a business trip and stayed 2 nights but I would not hesitate to go back to the hotel for a city break with my wife. Highly recommended.

Very rude reception from the chief of staff when trying to get a table. Apparently trying to speak Dutch was a mistake because he replied to me a very straight "spreek jij nederlands of niet Dan?! ". OK I'll switch to English then :o Cocktails ordered were missing ingredients (grapefruit replaced by orange, chocolate liqueur by amaretto, no cinnamon in the cinnamon cocktail) and glasses got broken several times that evening, which I guess is likely to happen at a bar.
It's a shame because the place looks lovely and our waiter was nice and extremely friendly.

It is a teaching hotel and the staff seem not to communicate with each other. Rooms are comfortable and the hotel has style and charm. Location is good, near Museumplien and tram at the front door. We paid 22 euros each for breakfast to be included. Being an Italian themed restaurant, Ferelli's, the food was far below par. On our first evening, we sat at the bar and asked to order some snacks, were told it was impossible because the kitchen was very busy with booked tables. Sat there for 2 hours and only saw five tables being served! Breakfast was awful. Only an assortment different unidentified tasteless cheeses, nothing typical dutch, Strings of cherry tomatoes, and some bread. Asked for a hot breakfast which we were offered, waited 45 minutes, nothing came. Asked again, told sorry breakfast is finished. They need to abandon this horrible restaurant concept and hire a whole new team. I watched two wedding events this weekend and both had very sub par food served.

Found this place whilst getting lost so decided to book for in for my birthday meal on the evening. As soon as they found out what the occasion was we were introduced to the chefs and treated to taste their amazing biscuits. The evening was just the best, the staff were so attentive and lovely — bringing out a dessert with a sparkler and singing happy birthday and the food was fantastic. They have just gone through a refurb and changed a few things — I would highly recommend it for a night out and am planning on staying in the hotel the next time I visit.

Really WRONG hotel DO NOT VISIT this hotel — many thinks broken (lift out of service, in my room broken shower and others). Check in took 45 min because staff was totally confused. Let my say this is not a service for 200, — Eur per night and room.

Good location and atmosphere, too much elaborate food. The place is not bad for a dinner with your partner imo, but it is definitely not for other purposes.

Very luxurious venue, amazing terrace. The restaurant was not as impressive: luxurious but old, unnecessarily expensive, disappointing food.

The food was average and the service was poor. It took ages to be served, there was no menu available in English (unusual for Amsterdam), we had to ask three times for the wine menu, the olive oil jar served with the bread was empty (and was not refilled when we asked). The staff seemed very disinterested in serving us. The time between courses was sometimes as much as forty minutes and it took two requests to get the bill. I know this is a training hotel, but on past visits the service has been good to great — and always attentive. The food was OK — nothing was very hot, and the soup course was lukewarm asparagus soup with cold slab of salmon in it. Unpleasant. I'm really disappointed — I've enjoyed College Hotel several times in the past. I will try it again hoping that this is a one-off.

I think you really need to understand where you are staying when you book this place. The hotel is staffed primarily by students studying hotel management. Service is incredibly hit or miss purely depending on the level of competence of the student you get. The stories of 20 mins for a coffee are completely true and at times it has taken 30mins for them to get my bill correct on check out. But the general experience of the hotel I have always liked. Rooms are mostly great with soft dark lighting. There are some quirks with the light switches and it can take a while to figure out what controls what. I have used this hotel for business (probably not recommended) and for pleasure (recommended). If you are highly strung, require precise professional service and staff and a clinical hotel, this is not the place for you. If you want a beautiful, cosy, and seductive place to stay with a partner then this place could be for you.

This is our favourite place to be at the weekends for lunch and or drinks. Staff try very hard and make you feel welcome, even with a pram or child. Hidden gem in Amsterdam.

When we checked in we had to wait five minutes while the chap finished a call. No one to help with luggage. After seeing the room I understood why FILTHY. Bathroom not mopped, dirty carpet, lamp shades burned and the blinds were broken. Spoke to the manager the next morning, a British lady, and she said she knew the room needed work.
