Total lack of communication. They could, at least, answer to mails or phone calls and try to find a solution. This situation is beyond our control.

With all the situation we are living these days in the world, they are not helping and moving the reservations. Really impolite.
We will not recommend and never will go.
2days 500€ that we lost.

Rented 2 rooms, one was un usable due to sewage back up and was offered no refund! 3 adults and 3 children, 3 small beds in a room not big enough to stand in. DONT waste your time or money booking here!

Really noisy all night long. Between the noise from the busy street, to staff talking loudly to other hotel guests, front door slamming, we didn't get a good night's sleep. Rooms don't have any way to change the temperature, also the temperature for shower's is barely warm.

Worst costumer service ever! Cancelled our hotel room on us saying there was an error with card… just funny how they cancelled my room! Prices went up and now it's all sold out! More like they got better money so cancelled my room! Receptionist couldnt of been more cheeky and unhelpful wouldn't even let me speak to someone else or a manager! Wouldn't recommend at all!

Ubicación excelente. No se me ocurren muchas mejores. Los recepcionistas geniales. Lo único malo es que el hotel carece de vistas, lo cual tampoco tiene mucha importancia. Y que el edredón no era tamaño de matrimonio, eran dos individuales superpuestos.

This Hotel has been receiving a lot of backlash online, so I was quite worried to come here, but I have been positively surprised. I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, its small but very lovely, perfectly clean and also decorated very minimalistic, perfect for spending your nights. The check-in was a breeze and the staff is very polite, people were complaining about the cat but I don't mind it at all and the cat accesoires that I saw were barely noticeable. Keep in mind that this is in the heart of Amsterdam Centraal, it can get noisy at night, but nothing closed windows and earplugs couldnt fix (I slept with open windows and no earplugs and woke up well rested anyway haha). There is still some construction going on so breakfast wasnt an option as of now but there are many cheap options to satisfy your hunger elsewhere :) I would definitely come back here, nothing beats this price ans location! One downside which might be a problem if youre staying longer, there is no space at all to hang or store your clothes (atleast in my room 211), but living out of my suitcase was no big deal :)

This was the experience of a lifetime… and not in a good way. The rooms were way too small. The bathroom had a shower that you had to kneel and bend to get into. My travel mate could not even stand in this shower. There was cat puke on the carpet. The staff was rude. We had paid for breakfast and my travel mate was told that she was not entitled to breakfast. It got ugly from there. Do not recommend at all!

This is a 2 star hotel for a reason. It is in breach of health and safety regulations. It is a building site at the moment so avoid for now. There is dust everywhere. The room was bare, noting in the room, no facilities, the electric cables for the lights appear out of the plasterwork in the walls. The staff were not helpful and when we requested to speak with a manger he never appeared. All in all It was a disappointment.

Horrible STAFF, the night shift man act and talk like criminal, AND DO NOT PAY WITH CREDIT CARD! AFTER YOU LEAVE THEY WILL CHARGE YOUR CARD 100€ FOR SMOKING IN YOUR ROOM WHEN YOUR NOT EVEN A SMOKER! they will do it after your back in your country SO YOU CANNOT DO NOTHING! Very BAD PLACE BELIEVE ME.

Bad! Both the structure and BOOKING! Site through which I book often but it will not happen again! The property canceled the reservation made 3 months before! They cancelled it to Me 3 days after departure! Justing This crappy and unacceptable behavior by saying that my card is invalid! What of course false! To this day I have no problem using it! The payment also had to take place in structure and cash! Not to mention the fact that they have "strangely" waited 3 months to inform me this cretinata! I called BOOKING to get assistance but they proved pitiful and unprofessional. The answer was that they can not do anything and that the structure can cancel the reservation. Considering the bad reviews of the hotel and the ridiculous professionalism of booking I do not recommend to everyone both this hotels and booking!

Excellent location.

It is a lot smaller than you expect, and you expect it to be small. It is in the centre of Amsterdam and in a really nice area, so plus points for location. I booked late so I expected to pay more, but was quite expensive for what I got. There is a bike shop, A bikes, just across the canal that offers bike tours and rentals which are really good. The teams in Amsterdam work, but are not the most reliable, rather cycle. The infamous Red Light District is a short 10 minute walk away, where as the I Amsterdam sign is about 15 to 20 min walk in the opposite direction. The hotel is located on a shopping street and around some really good restaurants, although none of these are cheap. The centre of Dam Square is about a 2 min walk away as well as plenty of museums scattered around the city. There is quite literally, more bikes than people in Amsterdam, so I would highly recommend riding around, as long as you have some basic bike and road skills and knowledge. Otherwise walking is also easy. Overall if you just looking for a bed and shower, this the place to be.

Great location in the center 5 Min from Dam square the rooms a bit reduced in space but warm and cozy… very friendly staff.

Well located but not very comfortable.

English version: not recommended! Our stay was a big disappointment! Here briefly summarised all the shortcomings: – Room floor was very filthy – on the made bed were hair and crumbs – TV did not work (Programs not installed etc. )
– Towels spotted and full of holes – filth on the bathroom wall – shower dirty – there was no storage facility available. We had to store our things on the floor there was no refund of the booking price. We would have also been satisfied with a discount or other attention. Unfortunately, we did not understand our complaint. Reason: It was the second cheapest hotel in Amsterdam. Well then, so here is unfortunately our bad rating. Keep your hands off this hotel! Dirty, expensive, tourist trap!

– Floor was extremely dirty – Crumbs and hair on the bed-sheets – TV didn't work – towels had holes and stains – dirt at one bathroom-wall – shower-cabin was dirty – the room was actually pretty pricy for a low budget hotel!
We didn't even get a little reimbursement. So after all: Do not book this hotel. They make you pay for services you can't even make use of. It's dirty and a tourist trap!

Well located, it doesn't have great amenities but it's close to almost any place.

Very bad, at the entrance there is a steep staircase to die for, very small rooms, nothing works and more is under renovation. Do not be enchanted by the photos that are on booking.

LIARS — no breakfast even for additional fee! Do not trust their's nice room pictures! Whole hotel is a construction site with a lot of dust and derbies! Rooms and hotel hallways are in a horrible condition, super small, dirty and a lot of bare wires. If you decide to watch a TV in the room, you have to ask to provide you a remote control at a front desk. This hotel is not suitable for kids and/or disabled persons at all. It is very hard to climb their stairs. However, hotel staff is friendly but not a very helpful.

Quick in and out — business meeting — all good.

A magnificent hostel almost in the center. Shop with a priest next door, also chinese restaurant allcanyoueat downstairs. Very close to the confectionery, you can sit by the river smoked in the trash and eat muffins!
Rooms on a solid 4k. There is a toilet and a shower, there is a bed. Wai-fai is working. What else does a cultural man need in Amsterdam)

The location is perfect in terms of trams, and the train station. But very small rooms and somewhat uncomfortable, there are many stairs so it is complicated when you walk suitcases.

The hotel is located right in the centre so easily accessible to all the sights of Amsterdam. Just a few minutes walk to dam square. The front has nice views of the canal, we weren't so lucky as had a side view of a wall. There was a lovely hotel cat but his litter tray and food was on the landing which was a bit smelly. As you would expect from a central hotel it was very noisy. People walking past at all hours, cars and tram noise. The rooms were very small and dated but the bathroom clean enough and bed linen was clean. The worst thing about the hotel was that for two days the fire alarm kept going off for no reason throughout the day and night. And on the last night went off 6 times starting at 2pm! I would not come back to this hotel, I would pay a bit more where I had a chance of some sleep.

I had a great stay at this hotel. Their prices are great, location is amazing and staff very friendly. Defiantly worth stopping and taking a look to see if it's a place for you. Not like it's a high end hotel but they work with what they have and that was plenty for me. Can't wait to go back to Amsterdam and book their again.

Hotel located at the center from which you can reach the main attraction places very easily, welcome nothing of that, bad rooms with very old and uncomfortable mattresses, tiny bathroom and bad view obscued by external scaffolding.
The presence of a cat in the hotel implies general filth: cat hair on the couches and food for cats on the stairs, resulting in a terrible odor that is felt as soon as you enter.
The dust under the bed has taken its own life and may attack you.

Fine hotel with comfortable rooms and big beds. We booked it twice and got the street view. Had a very good time!

Great because Central… For a shower and sleep is ok.

The hotel leaves a lot to be desired, there were mousetraps for mice under the bed, the bathroom was disgusting, the curtains broken the windows broken, no elevator and the stairs the more inclined I have seen in my life gave vertigo does not deserve the hotel cataloging, any Spanish pension has more category.

DONT STAY HERE worst experience EVER booked this place online from Canada got there pictures did not look like what I booked ON LINE and to top it off the room smelled like a sewer witch the smell was coming from the bathroom told the front desk all they can tell me was o we will let the cleaners know in the morning THE PLACE IS OLD GROSS AND DURTY DONT BOOK HERE AND TO TOP IT OFF THEY WILL NOT RETURN YOUR MONEY IF U DECIDE TO NOT STAY LIKE WE DID its ok they need the money more then me but not fair to others so do not stay at his place its a dive. Not even worth 1 star but thats the lowest.

The rooms are small, the services can be improved. But one is on vacation and, most importantly, that meets with camdas super comfortable and the hotel is in the heart of Amsterdam. Super recommended!

Apart from Kos, the hotel's cat, and the location which is in the city center, nothing's worth the price.

The price is cheaper than some others but the bicycles reflect that. However, they all fitted the purpose. The lady was nice and friendly. Also it was one of very few rental places that open on Sundays, which was crucial for us.

Friendly enough staff but the included breakfast is pretty poor and the rooms are tiny and disorganized (missing/malfunctioning appliances)

Very reasonable prices, friendly staff, my bike was perfect — would highly recommend.

O Rescue. It was a very nice Hotel. Besides facade in works. Small room, shabby, with a broken tile overlooking a scaffold and behind… a wall. The room is next to the common toilets as furniture, a piece of furniture that I will not even leave in a cellar. On our arrival we must leave 150 euros of bail… this is not even the price of the whole furniture. No TV remote. And when they deign to give them C is without the batteries… The worst hotel that knows for 115 euros… ideal to spoil you the weekend.
No third Age here. The stairs to reach the rooms and the reception are worthy of the Everest

Cheap prices for bicycle rental in Amsterdam, situated in the coolest neighborhood. The owner is very nice and funny. So many different types of bikes, some brand new, some a little older, nice to look like a local!

Bed side lights don't work, you have to hold the shower head. Beds were comfy and shower was warm and the toilet flushed. No warning about a cat either for people with allergies. No where near 2 stars. Terrible.

The friendliest customer experience for bike rentals! The Greek guy, Stelios and his wife was super nice. I couldn't​ find any better bike than the one they gave me. They also have very low prices for that kind of service! I surely suggest it.

The worst hotel I have ever been on, turns the light on in the bathroom 5 minutes before you shower to go roaches, it smells musty, and the old who go there, not sure if it is the owner, is extremely rude, disgusting to the 100x100

They accused Me of having smoked in the room, I do not smoke and sent to booking a photo of a brand of tobacco that is not sold in spain and that of course did not take out in my room, a scam, stayed the bail all over the morro and left me in the street calling the police, I travel often and in any site I have tried to like it here, ask for a receipt with the deposit, is a council.

Find a good price, in a central area and a good attention of the staff.

No! Great location 150 E of bail not to smoke in the room that were not returned when we did not smoke! People are digging garbage cans. No, but seriously? Alarm at 3:00 in the morning, genial! I do not recommend it greatly! Good quacks! :)

It's not a hotel it's a big MRDE!
I assure you that this "Hotel" is not even worth €20! RIP scam! The showers are rooms, you can see the mushrooms in the cabin in the picture. The beds are from wooden benches.
Anyway, I'd rather sleep outside!
It charges you €50 on the CB, when you want to do Check in you have to leave €150 + €12 tax, never pay with a credit card!
I'm not abusing, I'm just trying to find out what you can.

Worst hotel ever! STAY AWAY We were a group of 4 friends who saw pictures on the booking site and decided to book 2 rooms for this hotel. We arrived in Amsterdam at 2 am and when we arrived to the hotel the recepcionist tried to charge us 190 for a night extra (we decided to go one previous night then the one we first booked). We arrived to the rooms and we found that cleaness is not their best priority, rooms are small and the size of a twin room or double room is the same (no separate beds). Seeing this we went to speak with the guy to try to decrease the amount but it seamed that he was drug (because the way he was speaking) we had one amount from the e-booking and they tried to charge us much more. The solution given by the guy was "stay this night and tomorrow you speak with the person who is here at 9am, someone double your reservations and I can not do nothing"! Their game was charge us 190€ for a shit room and hotel (because it was so late and suposily we didn't had place to go). The guy even said that if we didn't had reservation he could charge us 110 p/ night but as we have he was to charge us 190! The reservation they had under our name was all wrong (we've made for 4 nights and they had a paper for 6 nigh, wtf! ) on the e-booking website they say that they not charge but is a lie, they have chaged 72€ on the credit card. Watching the rooms and the organization we get out of there and NEVER RETURN!

I had 3 days booked at this hotel and accidentally checked out a day early as I was confused with dates. When I wanted to check in again they asked me to pay an additional $100 cleaning fee! Absolutely ridiculous, no hotel does this! The room would have been cleaned anyway. Total scammers and the GM of the hotel had no interest in resolving the issue. Not sure where he learned HOSPITALITY!

Thieves. Scammers. Day light robbery. My younger cousin stayed here for 3 days and was wrongly charged 150 EUROS. First they did not tell her about a pre booking charge on her card. They then took 35 Euros and said that (hostelworld took this) even though it very clearly states on the bank statement that it is Hotel Ajax. They moved her room after the first day and put a 150 euro charge on her card for a cigarette that was found 2 days after. I'm not sure why they didn't charge the people who STAYED IN THE ROOM. Having exchanged emails a few times, you can spot many inconsistencies in their story. Stay away at all costs!

This hotel is the definition of "basic". Which is not neccessarily a bad thing. If you're simply looking for a place to sleep, shower and change while visiting Amsterdam then this place will be just fine for you. The rooms are small and no frills but are kept clean. The staff are friendly enough. I didn't try the breakfast but my friend said it was, again, very basic. The location, however, is perfect and if you get a front facing room you're going to get a great view of downtown Amsterdam.

Hotel Ajax cheated us out of around 300 euros. Don't trust them when they confirm your cancellation, even if it happens a whole week before their three day cancellation limit. They will book the money anyway; they will alternatingly pretend that they have no record of your booking and that they never aknowledged your cancellation, and they will generally make it hell for you to get your money back.

Just returned home from this place. This hotel is not worth 2 stars. One might ask the authorities to check for breaches against health regulations. The pictures that are in the homepage description are definitely not as they are in the reality. The hotel is definetively older than mentioned (1999). The only one that it makes that hotel "good" is the location. That's it. Don't stay there.

We booked this hotel because of its low price (50 € per person per night). And so was the overall quality. At the check-in we were given a laptop and had to put our details into an Excel file. We could see every visitor’s ID number, country of origin, full name, length of stay etc. Privacy rights? Not a bit. We got room 214 (double room) on the 2nd floor. There was a washing machine on the floor which they started running 8 o’ clock in the morning. It was probably not only us who felt disturbed by its noise level. The cleaning ladies started their job next to our room with lots of noises and did not pay any attention to the morning time. Our small room was completely run-down: squashed mosquitos on the walls, dirt on the windows, a broken lamp, cracks in the plaster. The half-broken window (cracked window glass) offered a view to the neighbouring house, which was approx. 1 meter away, and was covered by loads of pigeons’ excrements. You could not open the window over night because the cooing of the pigeons in the early morning would have made it impossible to sleep. The furniture (basically one big shelf with hangers and a fridge) seemed as if were collected from several flea markets and is not what you would expect in a hotel. There was no bedside table, so we used the only chair in the room instead. The curtains were dirty.

Tried to cancel room since they are so terrible and the employee at the front desk acted like they did not know how to reverse the credit card payment and told me to talk to the owner the next morning. Owner was terribly rude and would not reverse the charge after not even staying in the room. Beware.

Very very basic. Small cramped rooms. Cheap but not cheerfull. This hotel only has one thing going for it a good location. Right in middle amsterdam. Spent last night in another hotel at a loss as I thought it was so bad.

I really don't recommend any one going there. They charged me 240 Euros for a single bedroom for two nights. There is no phone. If you want to get a hair dryer or an iron you have to go to reception. Every time you connect to internet you have to use a password and on top of it you have to go to a webpage and login with your Facebook account to get access to internet! Rooms are small. Nothing worked there during my stay. TV and satellite was not connected. Bathroom are very small. I booked a room for two days and they forced me to change my room for the second day. Some of the room doesn't have a view. It's just a wall of breaks. The only good thing about this hotel is that it's close to damn square. You can get there by 5 min of walk.

The pictures and descriptions on the website are well and good, but represent not the reality.
Verpinkelte mattress, hair in the shower. Cape puter TV, Wäschetrokner in addition to the chip wood wall who rushes all night and occasionally beeps, kiffende neighbors, ripped and yellowed by smokers curtains, loud street noise, Windows which open right nor quite close.
I can only recommend the hotel.

After having read the precedent reviews I was a bit scared although I tried my luck and I got myself lucky. The hotel location is amazing, I was able to walk around the city with the hotel as a good reference point; the room although not clean (I don't think they change the sheets very often) was ok considering that I stayed only for two days. Breakfast good but the price was expensive (check out when you book online, I thought I had paid already on Expedia (though the bank statement didn't show it) but instead they want the money on site (they say there is an option when you book? ). Better than expected but surely one of worst hotel I've ever been.

Luckily only one night: very small room, dirty, smelly of smoke, minimal bathroom and no safety in shower, electric wires hanging, minimal breakfast. It is advertised that the airport transfer is free: it's not true, it costs €14 per head. Not recommended at all.
