It’s a one stop family vacation resort. Great variety of food for meat lovers, vegetarians and that place have gluten free stations with GF bread and muffins. Lots of activities for children and adults. Great spot for snorkelling. Beautiful long walks under palm trees. Much recommended.

Absolutely wonderful resort, I do look at other reviews of people complaining and just wonder what they see and expect. •The grounds on the entire resort are immaculate and utterly beautiful •Staff are outstanding, especially in the buffets, the odd miserable one, but isn’t that the case in every workplace? •The pools are massive with fantastic swim up bars, now this depends how busy the resort is Sunbeds do and can fill up fast, however a 5 minute wonder and you’ll find some, not always as close as you’d prefer but plenty to go around. •The beach is a little thin on the sand in certain areas, so if that bothers just move elsewhere, plenty of space. The seaweed! Who knew that the sea brings seaweed?! Every single morning when it’s bad the crew get it cleared up sharpish, don’t worry about the seaweed. •We stayed for 14 nights and could have gone to an Al La carte every night if we wanted, we got bookings for every place we wanted without issue, not always at the perfect time, buy hey ho you’re on your holidays, who cares?! •Steakhouse was fabulous •Rodizio was excellent •Spanish restaurant was excellent •Japanese wasn’t for me, was more of a show than a restaurant •Italian was outstanding •Mexican was again fantastic •But the caribe buffet was probably the best for me, massive selection of excellent food, outstanding service. Try and go when the suckling pig 🐖 is on. •The sports bar is excellent for all English football matches, lovely and cool in there.

This will always be our second home for vacation. We will never go anywhere else. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful in any way. Clean and good for for all ages and the fun never stops. Highly recommend this resort to anyone with or without kids. Thank you barcelo family for creating more memories for our family.

Excellent service, very friendly staff, very attentive.

Horrible! Took hours to check in. Buffet food was not replenished. You need masks to eat but they won't give you a mask you have to find some in the gift shops for $10. All the restaurants were full and even if you get a reservation the men's dress code is ridiculous and they don't tell you about it until you show up. Women can wear anything except a bathing suit so totally ridiculous. Bartenders at the pool are rude and ignore you. We had to go find drinks elsewhere and then go back to the pool. Very rocky beaches full if seaweed… I've been to numerous resorts here and this is the worst by far.

Great place, great rooms, but lack culture of service to ALL areas from reception to waiters. Something I didn't like is q charge the room service per dish. That's very bad.

Great family friendly resort!

It was perfect, good meals, good music, beautiful room! Until I saw the horrible conditions in which the poor dolphins are. Please do something! I can't believe this keeps happening in 2022. The dolphins should have a lot more space! How sad considering they are only meters from the ocean. Makes me want to free them.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. Great customer service, thorough cleaning. Very nice all around. The nightly shows are entertaining and fun. We are at several of the on-site restaurants and the food was delicious.

Stayed at the Barcelo Maya Palace. Absolutely amazing! Workers were friendly and polite, food was great, rooms were clean and spacious… everything was perfect! Will stay at Barcelo Maya Riviera next time. Highly recommended!

The pros: The entire Barcelo resort is stunning. Like, ‘knock your socks off’ gorgeous. The support staff does a fantastic job keeping everything tidy and they are usually very kind and helpful. Beautiful location not to mention all the wonderful amenities! Chef Daniella was very accomodating as I was a bit restricted diet-wise as far as foods I could eat for a few of the days I was there. She was professional and friendly, you have a wonderful chef on your team! Very lucky to have her! I would definitely stay again. Service from all employees was friendly and excellent.

This place is AMAZING! The resort is beautiful. The staff is super friendly. The food is awesome. The room was clean and spacious. The spa was unbelievable! I can't imagine going to a different all-inclusive resort. For a family friendly vacation, this was the best! I can't think of a single thing that could have made it better!

This is our second time here and I had a great time with my family. The entertainment was great always fun activities in the pool with Brian and the rest of the staff. The evening shows are amazing one of the best shows was boys vs. Girls. We loved going to eat at the Buffett, where we had the most amazing, and friendly waiter Lucio. The kids loved going to the kids club everyday there was always something new that they did there like face painting, mini golf and much more. They also loved the water park. I would definitely go there again.

Great Staff and great Mexican feel! The service was good if requested and the food was so good! We adapted to the bathroom door without a lock by tying the bathrobe tie around the two handles. You can see Iguanas, various sizes of lizards, cute little agoutis, colorful birds, and hermit crabs! Truly Exotic! The beach was rocky but once you got past the rocks, it was only flat, smooth, white sand! There might be too much seaweed at times but again, all you have to do is go further out to the white sand to enjoy the water. If you go closer the bigger rocks, you might find a coral reef with tons of different tropical fish and corals. When the sun is out, the water is crystal clear with great opportunities to swim around with the fish!

Amazing doesn't cut it! This place is not only beautiful but the staff is sooo friendly and they are always working to pick things up, clean/maintenance and to make your stay perfect. Our room is beautiful and very clean and well maintained. Someone is in and out surprising you with tidying up your room and making your stay perfect. There is not enough room to say how amazing this place is from the lobby, rooms, food, shows, pool area and especially the staff. I guess the only thing I would recommend to anyone coming here is to bring a pair of nonslip shoes/flip-flops because the sidewalk/floors are a little slippery when wet. We will definitely be back here next year!

This resort is absolutely perfect. This is my 9th trip to this complex and I will come back here for years! Last year my family stayed at a different resort that was not as nice as all of these hotels. They ground and rooms are very well kept and detailed, food has great quality and huge selection, the beach is absolutely gorgeous. The best part of this whole resort is hands down the people who work here and the customer service. Love this place.

I absolutely love this place. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Barcelo Maya. The rooms are gorgeous & spacious. Patios overlooking the beach & pool. The pool is huge with tons of cabanas, swim up bar, tons of lounges. A waterfall area, huge jet tub, private adult only pool. Tons of water activities. They have bowling, dolphin area, kids zone, a shopping mall, tons of great restaurants. The beach is gorgeous. Soft sand, clean beaches. Staff here is all amazing! So sweet & helpful & wonderful! We will continue to visit here again. Very kid friendly.

The buildings and rooms are very nice. The food was very very disappointing, even at the reservation restaurants. Golden Corral has better buffets. The beach is fairly rocky, and the resort overall is simply too big. It's a 10 minute one way walk for a drink from most rooms at night. The mini bar is beer only. The pools are all very nice, but their hot tub is simply a pool with bubbles. I expected better from a 5 star resort.

We are at the end of our week stay and I have to stay this place is wonderful! One of the most beautiful resorts we have visited. Gorgeous beaches, wonder activities, friendly staff… I’d like to specifically thank Consuelo from the 24 hour bar (amazing lady! ), Ismael and Marco at restaurant Brasserie for their exceptional service! This restaurant is one of the high end places you get to enjoy while visiting, it’s like dining 5 star, included with your stay… excellent food, fabulous service, friendly people!

We did not stay at the palace, but I would have liked to. The colonial and other hotels in the complex are already splendid, but then this is worth a visit. And still we could not access everywhere. If you can afford it go to stay there.

A paradise real Korean the delicious food with beautiful views the Poscila this excellent habiraciones great and especially that the people who attend you are very friendly and also has a shopping center! The resort is very nice and great I recommend it a lot.

Excellent place to vacation and have fun without leaving its facilities as it has many places and activities to distract, comfortable rooms, delicious food for all types of taste, safe place at any time and especially where you go find People who do not live to attend you.

(Check In) It started off with an enormous wait to check in. The check in line was so long it took near an hour to check in. There was only two people checking people in during the high check in time. This was the same the next day so I can only assume they were cutting costs by lowering their employee count. (Room) It was pretty spacious so I will give them kudos for that. Our room had a decent view of the ocean and had all the amenities I would expect. (Food) The food was pretty sub par in comparison to some of the same types of all inclusives I have staid in the same price point. (Security) The security was present on the beach but out of site. I definitely felt safe here. All in all I was not very impressed with this place and I would not recommend them.

A group of 7 families took our seniors for Spring Break. The whole resort is a family vacation no matter what hotel you stay at. The difference was supposed to be that you pay more at the Palace for "premium" liquor. Everyone in our Spring Break group agreed all the liquor was watered down. The food is mediocre, the staff had some really great people and a few not so great. The rooms were clean, which is always a bonus. Out of the 5 hotels on the resort the Palace is the most quiet at night and during the day. I think the young partiers are at the other end running up and down the halls at night yelling. Probably won't be going back unless I go with my next senior fir spring break.

This is the "high end" side of the Barceló Maya Beach resort. The rooms and restaurants have better amenities. You will have access to the entire resort with all of the pools, beaches, and restaurants. I rated the entire Maya Beach resort separately. The beach is the best attraction because it is about a mile long with calm waters. The sea turtles will even swim up to you and see if you have any food. The resort is very family friendly with a lot to do for the kids. The mall is… a mall. There is a small market. The shows are nice. Over-all, this is a great resort.

Excellent place, you can have access to most of the beaches, very clean, huge complex… I consider it important to be patient at the reception because there are schedules that saturate and you can take a good time.

Stayed at the Barceló Maya Palace in mid March 2018. The room was very clean. The room is spacious, large bed and two minor sofas. Necessary bath accessories (toothbrush, pasta, cap, razor, ear sticks, bath salt, sewing kit, sponge for shoes), shampoo, balm, soap stationary. Iron with a board. Mini-bar replenished every day (free) beer, different soda, chips, nuts, coffee. Coffee machine. Cleaning daily. Good breakfast. Hotel with a large green area. Children's pools with different slides, sports (with colder water) and huge common with bar, Jacuzzi, waterfall. Beds are enough, both near the pools and near the sea. The beach is sand, but at the entrance to the sea a little stones, and on the shore places there is great that does not really please the eye. In general, the Stones would not hurt to clean the beach. The sea is a little disappointing, there were many algae. The breakfast buffet is quite varied. Lots of fruits, seafood (shrimps, octopuses, mussels, red caviar), fish, meat cooked with you. The staff is very friendly. I would like to mention the waiters of the restaurant Oscara Lopez and especially many thanks to Hermenegildo Cituk. The service is top notch. Always friendly. Pleasantly surprised and pleased, knowledge of several phrases in Russian and Ukrainian languages) ). The staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommend.

I really wish I could give this place zero stars. If your looking for all-inclusive resort with terrible food, no alcohol in your room, walking miles to get alcohol after 9 pm, having to call numerous times for water/sodas in your mini bar, a rock filled beach, terrible customer service and being double charged for things because you can’t produce the receipt than by all means this is your spot. So many great resorts in Cancun area. Do yourself a favor and don’t overpay for this one. I was double charged for multiple things at checkout and was forced to produce my receipt. When I refused to sign the receipt they radioed the front gate and refused to let me off the premises. My girl and I come to Cancun once a year and we have never had such a terrible experience. Hey Barcelo Service Staff, you’re all very rude and I am happy to say I’ll never see you again. And BTW I will spend the next week dedicated to dragging down your inflated ratings. You held the wrong person against their will!

Our second visit in 5 years. Overall a great experience. The only reason for 4 stars is that it is a big resort and our rooms were quite a walk from the main building and took a while to get there and back. Our primary reason for choosing was snorkeling off the beach — and the resort lived up to its promise! It was not particularly crowded during our visit over Christmas, so no need to 'reserve' space by the pool. Food and facilities were great, service was good, although felt a little less personalized compared to the previous visit — seemed like the restaurant staff was a little overworked. It is a great family resort with good rooms, nice environment, good entertainment — if a toss-up between two resorts, this one is a safe choice.

Excelling hotel, beautiful beach, great buffet, super eating!

It is a 20 minute resort to Playa del Carmen. It's huge and it's got everything. The staff is very attentive and friendly and you never lack anything. They use bottled water for everything. This is something that we were concerned about the necessary precautions but at this resort you can see them with lots of bottled water that they use in the restaurant and to fill the cups of water from the table. I stay in a junior suite from the Palace and the room is fabulous, big and with everything you need. 5 stars. I'll be safe again.

Well designed, well executed all-inclusive resort. It was nice not to worry about where to eat and how to get there. With about a mile of beach, shopping, a theater and more on the grounds there is plenty to do, and plenty of space to relax. The grills provide a wide selection for casual meals, the sit down restaurants are really quite good. The service everywhere is top notch.

Excellent place to vacation… I was with my family… 2 adults of 40 one of 18 and another of 11… there's entertainment for everyone.
Also in all Riviera Maya There are multiple options of fun and culture… excellent Lugat.

This is a very good hotel, it is very fun in fact you can do many activities within it, it has restaurant, spa, disco around. It's a pretty big place, sure. I was impressed by the theater inside the hotel. It is also close to many beaches that are ideal for the whole family.

This is a beautiful resort destination, we were there to see Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds in January and had a spectacular time. The beaches are wonderful and well taken care of, and the swimming was awesome. The restaurants are good but the French restaurant is the best of the bunch. As far as breakfast goes you can get most anything you want. Give it a try… Relax and enjoy!

We stayed here back in 2016 with some friends. We loved everything about this hotel so I'm giving it a 5 star. So much hospitality it's amazing! We didn't want to leave on day 7 Lol. I so recommend this hotel. Food was amazing, our suite so beautiful. This hotel has everything you don't have to leave. Mall, casino, 2 clubs and nice elegant restaurant you can pick one nice one every night. Love love love it… can t wait to go here again.

This hotel was amazing! The staff what super friendly! The wait staff at the buffet (breakfast, and lunch) and at the special reservation restraunts were absolutely wonderful. After reading some of the negative reviews it surprises me how hard some people are to please. If you've never stayed here, I highly recommend it. Some reviews say the food was bland. Once again, we were very pleased and feel very blessed that we got to experience something so amazing and special. The food was not something we get to experience daily in normal everyday life. It was a lot of fun to get to try so many new things. The little complaints as far as the "pool being too cold" seems so silly the rate this hotel lower then they should be. They went above and beyond to make this an amazing experience for my husband and I.

Very good hotel! You don't need to get out of it for fun, nice facilities, ample, safe, all inclusive luxury rooms, various restaurants of different specialties, shops, disco, theater, convention Center and more.

The top if you decided to stay at the Barceló.

We stayed at the Palace. The resort grounds are beautiful, and the beach exceptional due to the fish, turtles right off shore. The food is average, and the service is terrible, even if you pay for the "Premium Level". I would not recommend it as a 4.5 star. 4 Star at best and thus it is over-priced. We complained about many specific major service issues which really hampered our enjoyment of the resort, including our 16 Year daughter getting kicked out of the spa after paying for a massage and Premium Level service which is supposed to give her free access to the spa — because she was too young. They did not offer to refund the massage or the Premium Level. Also they promise you a personal concierge. There was no concierge to be found, and we had to figure out the complex on our own, with no orientation whatsoever. It's a nice place, but don't expect anything special in terms of service, even in Premium Level.

It is within a complex of 5 hotels, where the palace is the most exclusive. However, you need a doctor and you have to go to another hotel within the resort. Disco, you have to go to another hotel. The firm is not very varied. Finally, it persists a little annoyance that if you are not güero and/or do not ask for things in English, attention is different. I give three stars because the price/quality ratio is not good.

Extra Good Food Service.

(Bar-say-lo) Stayed at the Maya Palace — food was excellent, lots of choices. Rooms where air conditioned, pools well cared for. It'll be a couple days before you get a restaurant reservation, but worth it. Waiters will be expecting about a $10 tip per person. Wine extra — $30 to $90. Under 18 will not be able to use the gym — $20 taxi ride (1 way) to get to California fitness. $30 to sign up for Cali — $40 to quit. Would love to see a 16+ wrist band.

Great place to go for family vacations or even day pass. Luxurious and spacious recreational areas, food and beverages. The only thing missing is that they have service of drinks and food on the beach.

The best, the pools. The beach is very nice and big but full of stones. The resort is huge with countless restaurants and activities.

My expectations were exceeded in most areas. Clean, friendly, maintained, tasty food and beautiful landscapes. Walking from our room to the buffets and restaurants turned out to be great quality time to stroll and hold hands. I liked how they clean most everything with a squeegee rather than a rag. My least favorite part was all the children. Even towards 8/9pm, parents still have kids out at shows and restaurants. I guess next time I'll have to do an adults only destination and just deal with the nudity.

We have come a couple of times to this beautiful hotel which we consider to have had an unforgettable family holiday which the restaurants are great especially the buffet restaurant and Tokyo restaurant and applause in particular to the animation team Where it integrates Diego, Pamela, Bryan, Morony, Carlos, Wendy perform excellent animation with super activities. Sure we'll be back.

All the staff are very attentive and polite, at the disco there was an altercation with a group and the only exit was blocked by the group they took, they did not activate any security protocol and followed the music as if nothing will happen when they had to open at least one Sali Emergency DA.

The best hotel I have ever gone to, friendly staff and exquisite food, only flaw is some restaurant a bit too touristy.

While this is a big resort, the place is always clean. You don't feel like there is so many people on the site. Food choice and quality is excellent. You don't have to freak out for the ice… All the water used is safe for drinking. My sixth trip there and I never got sick. The hotel in general is excellent, you find everything! The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. Of the best hotels I've stayed in.

Very nice hotel! Great for kids. Very nice water park (although very cold water) and a calm beach. Drinks are not so good as they use syrup (not fresh fruit) and no juices made with real fruits. Wish they had a baby space and food for babies (Gerber would do). Kids club is awesome! Kids had tons of fun. We enjoyed our stay.

They have an excellent service of professionals dedicated to the attention to the customer, total thanks for allowing me to know what is a quality hotel service, no doubt that they are a magnificent tourist company that deserves many honors, I hope to return soon Because I had a great time all my days reserved. The Food and room service I found to be the best, the establishment in general and its magnificent rooms are a great complement to that human warmth that their employees offer to the guests. My best experience on the Riviera was not the tourist places in the area but I was able to stay at this amazing hotel.

This was one of the best resorts from all of my travels around the world. The staff were amazing and always helpful. The entertainment was one of the best in this whole world. The following staff from the entertainment were the best: Julio Antonio, Diego Higareda, Carlos and Wendy. I recommend everyone to visit this resort and you'll have the best time 100 percent guaranteed.

They charged 34 USD for sun screen… Also the air conditioner stopped working for the whole place, except for the "Palace" which is the rich persons part of the resort. The floor was sopping wet with humidity. The place is OK but the 4.8 star rating leaves me to believe this rating has been compromised by bots. Don't get me wrong, the staff is great. I believe the downturn in service has to do with the decline in popularity. Hence why we booked on cheapCaribbean. Folks, there is no such thing as a free lunch. It's one of those places that had a huge foreign investment in the beginning. Now that the return on investment is lacking, so are the basics.

Had a horrible experience at this hotel. Mexico is beautiful and all, but the food and this hotel was horrible. It took 2 hours to check in and they gave us no details of where our room was. It was warm in our room and the ac did not work. The buffet food was really bad and it was the same everyday. The hotel has too many people in it and a lot of the workers are rude. On my second to last day I got food poisoning and I was in the bathroom of my room for over 24 hours. Then had to get up and leave the next day. The worst vacation I have ever experienced.

Metz, Diego, Carlos, Ddier, Wendi, Margaux are the best animators at the Barcelò Maya Palace manage to make your holiday in an already special place even better involving everyone in exciting and engaging activities especially for boys.

I enjoyed my vacation a lot. It was fun with all my friends and family. I loved the mexican computer and my favorite show was Barceló Vision. I played water polo with awesome people. My favorite person Diego and all of the entertainment team.

We booked the Barcelo Maya Palace because of all the amenities they had to offer since we were traveling with the kiddo's. (15, 13 and 3yrs) (Miniature Golf, Bowling, Water Park, etc). They did not mention that this hotel is part of 5 other hotels all together and all of the restaurants and amenities are scatted around the property. You have to take a shuttle with no A/C to get around. On the day we arrived, we got in around 6pm, and check in had no line but the lady checking us in could care less about giving us any information at all other then our wristbands. If we didn't ask questions, we would of had no idea. Be ready to make ALL of your dinner reservations right then and there, because by the time you walked to your room, which seemed liked miles away everything was booked. We never had any problem finding beach or pool chairs. Bring your own snorkel gear, you could see beautiful fish all over ;) You had to reserve everything in advance. If you felt like jet skiing one day, you couldn't just walk over there you had to make a reservation. It did not feel like a vacation at all, still doing everything you would normally do at home planning, reserving, and time managing. Our Room was never cold, Our mini fridge was also never cold and hardly re-stocked. The kids club worked out for us for our little one, he enjoyed it. The resort credit was a joke, it should be called Resort Discount, you have to spend $ to save $. The shows were decent. We will not return to this hotel.

Spacious rooms equipped with every comfort. Numerous swimming pools and activities that allow you to never get bored. Great variety and quality of food.

Wedding trip in beautiful location. Equipped and super friendliness from the staff, from the early hours of the day until late at night. Aperitif in the bar inside the swimming pool seeing at 20 meters the white sand of their beach. Super. Room spotless and absolutely everything perfect. Thank you!

Stayed here for a week and loved it! Food was amazing, had no issues booking restaurants either. The resort was so clean, even the night club when someone spilled a drink someone ran out immediately with a mop and cleaned it up and we even saw them move people dancing! Was hilarious but VERY clean. Rooms were really nice, and had no issues. Only got a towel animal 6/7 of the days (this is my only 'complaint' I can think of for our entire week.

Excellent attention of all the personal, rooms clean, food delicious, the facilities of the hotel in excellent State and clean, keep the beach clean and preserved. Recommended for an unforgettable holiday.

So I'm 21 and my girlfriend is 19. We just got back 2 days ago. We were at the swim up pool and a man around 55 was grabbing and touching my 19 year old girlfriend. He spoke no English, just Spanish the bartender watched the entire thing, and did nothing. The bartender and the man started talking together and laughing because we were Americans and spoke no English. My girlfriend was obviously uncomfortable and took her drink and left. 2 hours later… She was dizzy and could not walk or talk. We ended up staying the night in a Mexican hospital. They confirmed there was a DATE RAPE DRUG in her system. I know it was from the bartender as he kept smiling and giving me odd look, and my girlfriend never set her drink down. the resort did absolutely nothing! they had no interest in finding the bartender and questioning him. They never compensated us for anything. They do not give a crap about Americans and clearly don't care about their guests! The hospital did confirm it was a date rape drug! Save your money and. Do not go here! horrible!

The best vacation ever! The kids loved the pools the rooms were spacious and very clean. The bed was super comfortable and the service was outstanding. The beach was super clean and there was plenty of chairs to sunbathe. The people were very pleasant. That's why we'll be staying there again this summer. Thank you!

Been at all the hotels on the complex started with the beach the others werent even built yet as they & once they were we stayed at them first the Tropical & then Colonial 4 times I almost forgot the Caribe twice well now we prefer the Palace 4times we stayed their. Always enjoyed the complex their allways adding new and excelent features great job we stayed at 4 other Hotels on the Riviera Maya we enjoy the Barcelo. The best! Overall.!

Stayed in 2013, 2014, and May 2016. Overall, the resort never disappoints! The Palace provides superior facilities, and the other four hotels are also outstanding. The entire resort excels via staff professionalism, friendliness and courtesy. Cleanliness, aesthetics and resort comforts are all beyond reproach, as well. Meals include a wide variety of options for every taste (quality could be improved). Daytime activities are well established. Early evening entertainment is lacking (live music for listening /dancing, and /or movies would be nice). I wish the live theatre entertainment started earlier each evening. Nevertheless, we never felt the need to go elsewhere. Excellent resort that encourages a very relaxing vacation!

Excellent, clean, staff very friendly, clean pool, family, very quiet and cosy atmosphere, excellent food, all their top quality restaurants, Disco the very safe, very American music should combine with Latin music often Salsa and Merengue. And the Wi-fi service at least one day free for the bones of the hotel. I recommend it A + excellent.

I went to this resort for senior spring break. The service was terrible. I wasn't aloud to order more than one drink because I was 18. People, even with an adult bracelet, were taken randomly by security and taken to the main lobby to look if they were 18, complete harassment. There was more security than bar tenders, not security to protect you, security to harrasse you. One of the bartenders refused to serve me a virgin drink. The 17 year old and under were not given an adult bracelet as well which is understandable but no one was given any warnings that they were strict about that, since almost all resorts in Mexico don't care about that. The room was nice but the beds were rock hard and the sheets were plastic, not expected in a 5 star resort. There was no shuttle that took you downtown, unlike most other resorts A security guard put his finger in my friend's drink to see if it was alcoholic, which is absolutely ridiculous I'm never going to any Barcelo hotel again. For $400 a night this resort was a waste of money.

We went here for our honeymoon and it was awesome. There was a small wedding cake and bottle of bubbles in our room on arrival, so nice. The resort itself has a beautiful white sand beach and huge pools with swim up bars, there is also plenty to keep you entertained day and night. There are lots of restaurants to choose from including some really nice a la carte restaurants. The only disappointment is that you can only get Wi-Fi in the central shopping mall for a couple of hours a day. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the grounds were beautiful and our room was large and comfortable. I'd recommend this resort to anyone, it is awesome!

My overall experience at the Barcelo Maya Palace was great! I would stay at this hotel again. The staff were friendly & helpful; the rooms are spacious comfortable, clean & provide everything you need; the pools are amazing; the beach is nice, if a little rocky; and there's tons to do at the Barcelo Maya complex which you have access to all of it staying at the Palace! The grounds are beautiful! The spa was nice & relaxing! The nightclub was fun! The sheets were rough & a little plastic/rubbery which was odd & made it hard for me to get a good sleep. The Wi-Fi was not expensive for the week (compared to some hotels) but it would cut out & sometimes I would have trouble reconnecting for a while; not a big deal overall. I think the Wi-Fi should be free when you're staying at the Palace though!

I would NOT recommend Barcelo Resorts to anyone. We were referred by family and believed that it would be a very nice experience to visit for our honeymoon. Prior to getting to the resort we paid for our travel to and from the resort and airport and one excursion over the phone as requested by the resort’s booking agents that we spoke with. Upon arriving at the resort, we were asked to pay for our room. The staff would NOT give me the amount being charged in American money, and just kept informing me that the amount in Mexican Pesos was the same amount that was on my confirmation receipt. I finally agreed to pay the amount requested, and later on in the week found out that we were overcharged $350 dollars. We were charged the travel and excursion that we had already paid for a second time, and we had to speak with the front desk staff at the resort multiple times before they would even acknowledged that they made a mistake. When they finally admitted to charging us extra, after we provided all of our booking confirmation amounts and the receipt for the excursion and travel that we had already paid for, they informed us that they could not refund the money at that time and would have to process a wire transfer back into our account. I was assured multiple times before leaving the resort that they had all of the information necessary to process the refund and that I would be getting an email the next week confirming the refund and would have some paperwork to sign.

Check in was a lengthy process. In fact one of the only things I don't like about the resort is the waiting in line when you have a question or need something. All the service was really quick and great. People that work here are very friendly and accommodating. Everything is so clean and beautiful. Beaches are beautiful and the sand is so soft. Definitely coming back when our daughter is older! Oh, they also provided an actual crib for her!

Fantastic resort, the staff is truly remarkable: everyone is friendly, helpful, fun to talk to, etc. My only gripe is that they charge you for access to the Wi-Fi; a bit anachronistic when every coffee shop has free Wi-Fi, the Barcelo charges $12 per day for it. Of course, this is certainly not enough to keep you from staying there, it's just the only negative about the place. Other than that, rooms are great, food is great, pools are great, beach is great. I highly recommend it if you have kids.

We (family) stayed there for 7 days. Just got back last night. It was amazing experience. I would say the best vacation ever. People and employees are amazing and very nice. It is a real five star experience. Resort was very clean. All the eleven restaurants and food was awesome. Dance club and maya mall was also a great amenity. Bus service within the resort was great. Every 5 to 10 mins bus service was super excellent. 7 days were never enough. We need 14 days nect time. Kids didn't want to come back. Food and drink service was THE BEST. All pools were very clean. When we checked in the room was humid and after my complaint they changed the room right away. Employees and waiters were not greedy at all. They are very gracious and perform their duties very good. Barcey club for kids was excellent. Their employees became our very good friends and they took care of our kids very nicely. Little far away from the city so shopping and downtown is far. But if you are planning to just relax then We highly recommend Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe to everyone if you can afford.

Great experience! We only went for 6 days and ran out of time to explore the whole complex. The only reason why I don't give it 5 stars is because the bed was very uncomfortable at the Palace Deluxe. Nevertheless, the place was gorgeous and the kids loved it! There are many kids pools all over the place. My 3 1/2 daughter loved the Barcy Club. She was too young to stay there but the other kids were having fun painting, playing video games, etc. Highly recommended if you have younger kids and lots of fun for grown-ups too.

A very nice hotel. Food Summit. Sea seafood products of excellent quality. Don't feel sorry for the money spent.
