Had a beautiful thanksgiving break with the family. It was like home away from home. The service was excellent. They all went beyond and above to help us. Food so delicious! A very nice place to just relax and connect with nature.

Fabulous hotel — great for families, couples, and friends who want a low key experience rather than the more clubby scene of Tulum. Gorgeous beach, with the reef coming right up to the edge (bring your water shoes and snorkel right off the beach with the free gear they provide). 10-15 minute walk or 5 minute drive to the sandier beach where you can snorkel with the turtles. Their staff is exceedingly helpful and friendly, the grounds beautifully kept. We had a rental car and parking was free. There are two pools, lots of beach chairs. The food was great and reasonably priced. I would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!

Very welcoming team. We were 5, 2 adults, 2 child and 1 baby. The room as the perfect size for our family. The size of the hotel is really good not so big and well place close to some cenotes, Akumal beach for the turtle and Tulum for ruinas, playa and restaurant. Not too far from coba and Chichen Itza. Food is also good (the breakfast could improve a bit but for us it was enough). I will go back if I can.

It is the perfect place if you are looking for a slightly secluded holiday retreat that has great Mexican architecture/design, kayak/snorkling equipement at no rent cost and amazingly simple local food done by a great chef all at accesible rates. The villas are next to each other, but there is not a sense of being among many people. Pools are great and Akumal Bay (beach for swiming with turtles) is just a 20min walk from the beach just outside the doorstep. Tulum is 15min away south and Playa del Carmen 35min away north it is a great location and if you feel that you are up for the local experience moving in Colectivos up and down the highway is the most efficient way to travel through the Rivera! Few improvements suggested: bathtubs in all villas, proper entrance from the highway that is fully iluminated, do not charge for eggs at breakfast if you say Continental breakfast is included in the room rate, absolutely give machine coffee for free instead of that horrible 'american' coffee, clean the algae of the front beach, have someone in charged of entertainment/organized activities in the villa's complex and improve the instagram strategy as you have so many good things to show which are not shared!

I loved the very quiet place, excellent service, and the beautiful Pkya, the best of all that with only a few meters of entrarxal water you are already watching turtles, an hour and twenty minutes from the airport.

Beautiful facilities! Very quiet to disconnect and come to relax. Nearby is the beach Akumal which is very nice. Very clean everything! The only thing I would recommend to improve the hotel is to include in the breakfast scrambled eggs, which in hotels with less stars include it. After all excellent! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Nice place and the hotel well. The staff was bad. I'll never come back. I don't recommend it.

Comfortable apartments, attentive staff, adequate facilities and away from the mundane noise.

Great spot, peaceful, quiet and quaint. We booked a 1 bedroom, got upgraded to a 3 bedroom, which was fantastic. Very unexpectedly the food was great and inexpensive, except for breakfast. Very clean, and courteous staff.

I stayed here summer 2015 and it was a truly magical vacation. I was with my husband and six year old daughter. We rented a beach front condo with a view of the ocean. My daughter and I played with the iguanas, caught hermit crabs around the property, and watched beautiful birds. It was very peaceful. We also walked down the beach at night to the turtle bay area for dinner a few nights. The ocean front is a little rocky but there is some great snorkeling if you can make it out.

Breakfast is very good. Apartments very well kept, large kitchen and bedrooms. Private beach and pool! A 10-minute walk from the bay of Akumal! Staff was very helpful.

Gorgeous! We loved this hotel. Location was great, the rooms were huge and the grounds were beautiful. Most of the rooms face the ocean and have patios with swings/hammocks and a table and chairs. It is absolutely worth it to get an oceanfront room. The onsite restaurant is very tasty and has pretty reasonable prices. The hotel pools are also very nice and well kept. They have two pools, one of which is a children's pool with a walk in entrance. Our family would highly recommend this hotel, we'll hopefully be back again!

Great service, great location! The staff is always ready and happy to help and it's close to some cool ruins and beaches.

We want to thank all the staff at Las Villas Akumal for a fabulous vacation. The accommodations were excellent, all the staff very helpful (a couple helped me learn a few phrases in Spanish), and the restaurant lovely. We will definitely recommend it and would love to return.

Rooms were spacious — good for an extended stay. Management was generally very friendly and helpful. They provided snorkeling gear free of charge. Its a 20 minute or so walk to Akumal Bay. Some of the sand can be a bit rough. Only complaints were: I could hear the conversation in the neighboring room via a shared door. The bathroom was also somewhat open to the main room by folding doors that did not extend to the ceiling. And also asked to switch to ocean facing room. Was told there were none available but there clearly were rooms listed as available online. Might be a reason why, was only staying one night so didn't press the matter.

The place is very pretty, good service, the beach is very nice in that part and good price, now that I renewed is a great option in the riviera maya.

A special place Villas Akumal, clean, comfortable, quiet and beautiful There is No hair dryer But it is the only thing that is missing Otherwise excellent.

Hate to say it: this resort is generally much less nice than others in the area. The beach is beautiful, but the amenities and architecture are just a bit out of date, though overall acceptable in a fancy Holiday Inn Kind of way. There are "five" restaurants in the hotel, but the sushi bar really shouldn't count, as it's more of a snack bar type setup. But that's nitpicking. The thing that really turned me off is the lack of cleanliness and politeness of certain staff. Dishes left in the halls, sheets thrown on the floor when rooms are being turned down, poor circulation and extreme humidity in the rooms, and dirt and sand all over the furniture. We also had about $100 stolen at some point during the trip, but didn't realize it until departing. When we asked the hotel to open a claim, they said they couldn't be responsible for anything taken out of their rooms, and that anything we didn't want taken should've been kept in the small closet safe… So, everything then? We were also hung up on and told we were liars when we called to follow up. I guess it could've been worse, but we won't be going back to this place again. Shame really — it has potential to be more than just a resort for crooks.

An unforgettable experience. A stay of two weeks has made a nice and professional staff. The food is excellent and the buffet offers a wide variety of dishes.

This is the second year we have stayed here. Last year was amazing but this year was even better with all of the new options and upgrades. More restaurants and more activities but small enough staff that they get to know you. Only bad part was out of their control… massive amounts of seaweed washing up all day but they worked hard to keep it clear. Highly recommend for a low key getaway!

The staff is so nice & very helpful. The food is wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable and perfect for family or singles depending on what you need. The view is amazing and there are lots of activity options. I would definitely return to Las Villas Akumal!

I've stayed at 4 different hotels in the area of Cancun, Cozumel, and even a hotel near here. Out of all 4 I definitely say this is the best of them all! We originally booked a regular garden view two bedroom but after arriving paid the extra money to get the ocean view room. When we first pulled up I didn't expect it to be so amazing because the area looks like a normal little villa. The rooms are amazing and fully stocked with all the things you could possibly need. The Wi-Fi and cable are free. On the balcony are two hammocks for you to hang out on. Right when you step out on the balcony you have the ocean right in front of you with a very nice pool too! We arrived early so had to wait as our room was prepared. Which is fine because we simply left our luggage and decided to walk down the beach about 5-10 minutes away and snorkel with the sea turtles. The hotel has everything for you to use for free. We brought our own snorkeling gear but they still had nice gear to use. After snorkeling we decided to use the hotels kayaks which again are free. The restaurant has great food! The menu is limited but take into consideration it is a smaller hotel and each hotel is basically an apartment so it wouldn't make sense to have an extremely large menu. But I can assure you there is something for you to enjoy on the menu. If you are looking for the typical "beach, ocean, margarita, and relaxing" vacation I strongly suggest you stay there.

Lisabeth was the front desk agent. She provided great guidance and help with our stay and our local tourist activities. The housekeeping was very professional and friendly. The beach and villas are beautiful.
