I stayed for six months and the room was extremely comfortable and the location is safe. If you want to meet other travellers you can do that but if you would rather keep to yourself, that is not a problem. Everything but the beach is within walking distance. Palapas Park, the cities main park is a short walk and there is something happening every night. There are two smaller parks even closer to the Art Deco. One had a lot of salsa dance classes while the other I dubbed the 'hippie' park. Both had peaceful vibes. The owner runs a tight ship and not everyone likes that. It never bothered me and since the property is well kept and in good condition I respect this. This is not a hostel where there are parties, it's really a quiet, safe place to start your trips from and be comfortable. You get what you pay for and I did not mind paying for comforts at the Art Deco.
I had a wonderful stay at Art Deco Suites. I was traveling alone and felt safe. He was easily reachable by text if I needed anything. The whole house and room were very clean. Staying there gave me my privacy while still giving me the opportunity to meet and chat with interesting people staying there as well. It's perfectly located in the heart of downtown Cancun, few steps away from a pharmacy, bars, restaurants, money exchange place, cool parks with local events, and the ADO bus station which has a bus that goes to the airport for 78 pesos. You can easily get to the beach by bus on the main street few steps away and it's pretty cheap (12 pesos). I highly recommend this place!
