My favorite hotel to stay in Penang. Great location with easy access to food trails and being next to a mall is definitely a major plus. Service is personal and their welcome amenities are so different and refreshing.

We had our pre Christmas dinner at Taste Cafe. We chosen set dinner instead of buffet as we walk around the buffet area and found the food looks uninteresting and less of choice. Overall food taste is quite disappointed. Salad too poor, soup taste weird, beef taste very salty. I even see other table only eat 1/4 of the beef only. If this kind of food serve in other cafe instead of G hotel, I believe the cafe will close down soon. Recommend the Chef and F&B pic to try out their own food before serve to customer. Overall not recommend to try.

Booked the Chinese New Year buffet lunch on Saturday 25/1/2020 at your Taste Cafe for a family lunch of 12pax and we had a really great time there. Great variety of food, desserts and excellent service. Will surely recommend to my friends and can’t wait to be back here soon.

Perfect Location! Located next to the malls, walking distance to the bars and restaurants, great view and lobby athmosphere is amazing with Christmas decorations and live band. Very friendly and professional staff we are very impressed. We will definitely recommend and book again.

Booked the executive room, however we wanted the the high floor room with sea facing view, we were then offered an upgrade to executive suite with additional 150RM/ per night for upgrade. And we agreed to it. No regrets, every penny spend is worth more than the money paid. At this executive suite, we are offered not only experiential exceptional phenomenal service by the staff, were also given exclusivity Pampering Indulgence at the executive lounge for cocktail and free flow of drinks from 6pm — 8pm everyday. They served wide range of wine white or red, even champagne free flows, beers and other alcohols. They have light bites
serve like beef stew, lamb stew, chicken wrap, shrimps and even oysters. Cakes and fruits platters was fantabulous awesome. The experience was superb here. Quietness and exclusivity is indescribable. The rooms was amazingly superb huge, with sofa and kind size bed that is so soft, comfy and very relaxing. The mini bar is free flow usage for those staying at the executive suite. The view on this floor is amazingly splendid. We were offered to either have breakfast at the executive floor or the “taste cafe” downstairs at the hotel.

Great experience I had in G Hotel Gurney as I step into the lobby, my thoughts of this hotel was beyond my expectations. The lobby concept really fascinates me as the receptionist welcome me with a scope of delectable ice cream which I couldn't resist to have a taste of it. I wouldn't mind to give some amount of tips to the friendly staffs there. Believe or not, the mall is just within walking distance which is a good news for shopaholics. I can't describe how beautiful the room design is as it blew my mind. Overall my time spent right here is much worth it.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff right next to two shopping mall. Room are spacious and clean. Take the Executive Rooms which gives access to the lounge with a good view of the seafront and surrounding area.

My family truly enjoyed our 3 nites stay. Courteous and helpful staff who never fails to greet us and helpful in many ways. Full breakfast spread with lotsa varieties. 24hr gym and infinity pool which closes at 10pm which was great for a dip after our evening shopping. RIght smack next to Gurney Plaza and hawker centre.

Near by Gurney Plaza shopping mall and Gurney Paragon shopping mall If you book the executive room you got the privilege check in @ executive lounge where there is a nice ice cream for welcoming you And you can have your cocktail time at executive lounge at 6 — 8 PM And for me… the very special service is there is a wine for you evening cocktail and all is free!

Great staff and very friendly. The rooms are great, I recommend the L Suite. I had two guests stay with me and the staff helped arrange an extra bed. Location wise you can't beat this hotel which is right next to Gurney Plaza. You won't need to leave the area for much.

Stayed here twice and very satisfied with the quality of the rooms and ambience. It is connected to Gurney Plaza mall so it is very convenient for shopping or getting food. The hotel upgraded me to executive room for free and the room was perfect. Super spacious and luxurious with a big bath. Highly Recommended though it is quite pricey.

This hotel is pretty nice compared to most. It has a very modern feel to it. The rooms are very spacious and unique — perfect for wanting to just relax and get away from the heat. My one complaint is that the room servicing could use a bit of work. There was (long) hair in the bathtub that I found when I first checked in. There also seemed to be an ant problem because my bathroom had about five of them crawling around the sink at any given time. This is my first time staying at the hotel so I'm guessing I just got a unique case here, but it's still something that I don't even see at hotels in the 2 or 3 star range. There was also a lot of noise coming from my bathroom? I think I might have been next to a lot of the pipes running throughout the building. However, I only heard it when I was actually in the bathroom despite the bed being right next to it. Overall, I'll take the positives of the hotel weighed against the negatives against any other hotel… Except for the ants. I could go without the ants.

I had a wonderful experience there. Stayed 3 nights. The hotel staff was amazing. Food in the cafe was good. The lounge upstairs was very good. The gym is great! I wish I took more pictures to post of it as that was important to me but it is very well done for a hotel gym. Smith machine, incline bench, dumbbells that go up to 100lbs, good cable machines, and plenty of cardio equip. Be careful of the 6pm people that are there, seems like there are some regulars that come in and take over.

Staying here since 28th May 2018. Power trip since 4am this morning. It has been 8 hours and maintenance still rectifying the fault! Big shortfall:
1. We were not informed of the breakdown. We have to call to inform there is no electrical supply to our room.
2. There isnt seem to be an urgency to rectify the fault. First they informed it will be rectified around 9.30am. Then we have to ask again and they informed its 11am. Then, at 11.45am there was stil…l no electricity… Called the guess relation and she doesnt know our room has no eletricity!
3. Nobody offered to keep us updated on the situation.
4. Nobody offered us to change room (gathered from a conversation with the club floor personnel that it affects upper floor rooms only) We are supposed to do some work this morning in the room but we have to resort to the reception lobby. The club room is also without aircond. Question: isnt there a contingency or alternative from the hotel in case of such incident? Imagine waking up at 4am without aircond in the room and unable to open windows… How are we expected to sleep let alone good rest?
Obviously the hotel management hasnt train the staff to handle such situation!

Location is very good. There are many local attractions such as the street food stores and famous shopping mall. Room is very clean and comfortable. The transportation was good.

Wonderful service and if possible, try the executive experience. The room is big and the amenities are good. Breakfast buffet was good with enough varieties.

G hotel has amazing service crew, I had lunch there at the Japanese restaurant. Food is amazing but what really stood out was the service. I like to dine there just for the reason alone.

G Hotel in Gurney Drive Penang is a good hotel next to Gurney Plaza mall. It has all the facilities of a 5 star hotel with restaurants and Cafes like Coffee Bean just on the Ground floor. In addition, it has a good view of the beach and sea right across the road in front. Parking lots are at the basement and in front of the hotel are special parking lots which are a bit pricey.

Good place to have a company dinner. Spacious and luxury ballroom which can occupied hundreds of people. Enjoy your dinner with a scrumptious and mouthwatering food served as per your request.

Very nice hotel and good experience to stay. Breakfast food come in good varieties, complimentary mini bar, surrounded with few five-star shopping malls, and very near to the Hawker Food Center. Recommended for friends and family gathering, as well as business.

Location is great given its proximity to food and shopping. Staff are earnest and friendly. Breakfast is good. Some suites face the car park of adjacent buildings. Rooms can be hot if air con is not left running.

Modern hotel with friendly staff. The executive suite is very spacious and perfect for 2 people. The breakfast at the café is versatile and also quite comprehensive in the lounge. The pool on the third floor is ideal to end the afternoon.

Now having 2018 reunion buffet dinner. Your chef that selected the menu is on diet? Or he/she has totally no idea what CNY reunion dinner all about? Totally bland choice, roast corner only beef and duck. Salad mix, some bland carrot with raisin? Only interesting dish is the Char Koay Teow. Roast Section, center feature is pappadom? Sore disappointment from last year's cny buffet menu.

Excellent, well-appointed hotel conveniently located to two multi-story malls and a wealth of shopping. Excellent views of the sea, live music in the evenings, a friendly staff, and nicely designed rooms top off the package. There is also a famous nearby street hawker pavilion nearby where you can try the local cuisine that Penang is famous for.

Never gone there to stay before. But attended a few functions over there. Situated at a upscale gurney drive area, the hotel itself is very nice and high class. The food is good, particularly the tea time served during a medical conference. Gurney plaza is situated next to it, very convenient.

Actually, we probably always stay here, but for this time, I really disappointed. I ready call them to confirm if I want connected room, and the staff say, I can request when booking, but when we arrived, they can't give us connected room just because of ants, and don't have another room.
And after that, tomorrow when we got to breakfast, I order for some omelette, but the staff can't make for me, when I back to ask about my omelette, they can't answer me, and then to hurry make a omelette for me, but not like I order before, for this time, I'm very unhappy, I hope more for my holiday this time, but… Look, what I get for my experience this time.

We went for the buffet dinner and it was really nice! The food was great. Except for the grilled food, the guy didn’t seem to know how to do it well. Some were burnt and some were undercooked. I would give it 5stars but I don’t know about the accommodations of the hotel because just went there for the dinner. Overall, I would love to go again. Thank you for the amazing service.

Rooms clean spacious well maintain. Lobby spacious facilities within easy reach. Staff knowledgeable and friendly.

Staying at L suite. The room is clean and big. Executive lounge is also simple. Hope they can improve their breakfast. Too simple compare to the price they charge.

Attended a wedding and stayed one night. They did an excellent job decorating the ballroom. Room service was great, the beds were very comfortable, I had a view of the bay (though not for long; it looks like they're developing the waterfront area). The room was clean, and we had complimentary beverages in the fridge. Conveniently connected to a shopping mall.

My most favourite hotel in Penang! Polite front office staff and check-in was a breeze. Spacious rooms. Hotel is next to two shopping malls. Straits Quay is just a few minutes drive.

We have a large twin bedded room with a sea view. The room and bathroom have a great spec and staff are friendly. Would stay again.

This is our very first time here (Room 1411) from 18-21 Oct, a trip for my wife’s birthday. My sisters in law between them stayed 5 times altogether!
So, very honestly it is good place bcos:
1. Superb location next to G Plaza/Paragon, Gurney Drive and with good view of the sea
2. Many eateries within the hotel in case we are tired of going out for meals
3. Relatively new and well maintained property
4. In close proximity to many famous Hawker/local food
5. Hospitality is supposedly second to none.
So, overall we liked the room bcos of its minimalistic and spacious interior but still with a good feel about it. It somehow didn’t feel like an executive room to me having stayed in other notable hotels.
The Miraku eating experience which we tried many years ago now somehow seemed below expectations. The Taste breakfasts were lacklustre as there wasn’t any food item worth shouting about. But luckily the hospitality was at best good.
However the Lava stone BBQ buffet on Friday was very disappointing! The meats and seafood selections were honestly very skimpy — fit for a pauper! The meat slices were slices and to enjoy it one would need at least 4 slices. And I think they do not know how to cook the meats like lamb or beef. There was the same taste for meats. Prawns looked poorly done and I didn’t venture.
For a truly enjoyable dining experience it would always be great to see quantity of food so that it would be worth RM155!

G Hotel there are two old and new, I live in the old one, but the feeling is still very new net, the décor is very comfortable, the room and the public place are also very clean and comfortable, the consumption is also very economical, the hotel buffet breakfast, into the talent 30 yuan, the child half price, the food is very rich, the quality is also good, but also has the room small food and drinks all is free, I have been in the hotel for the first time since the overall very satisfied, such as the next time to Penang, we should also consider this hotel.

Barely furnished rooms. And lacking adequate room lighting. Otherwise, it is clean and situated in a good location next to Gurney Drive.

The executive suite is very nice however the room temperature can be very cold for some. Even at the highest temperature setting. The safe is a tad bit too small, my laptop could not fit. And unfortunately ice needs to be asked for from room service. It's not available on the floor (it is free however). Other than that, I've had a very pleasant experience. Room is very clean and all standard amenities are available.

Superb hotel. Excellent location next to Gurney Shopping Mall. Everything about this hotel is superb and I don't think there is anything they can do to improve. Just be aware, the hotel is surrounded by large condos so the views from many rooms are "building views. "

My favourite place to stay in Penang, due to proximity to Gurney plaza. Lots of F&B choices, shopping and cinema next to hotel. Buffet breakfast looks good but tastes below average.

The rooms are very clean. It is a great location for shopping and dinning. There are food courts, hawker fare, fast food and western food a stone throw from the hotel. Several coffee outlets around the hotel. Two big malls flanking the hotel. Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed it very much.

A perfect location with shopping malls, famous hawker foods, sea front view and easy access to anywhere. The room was huge and comfortable but a bit old. On the last day of check out, the master switch of our room did not work at all so we had to take a shower/wash in complete darkness. We stayed there for 2 nights, we never saw a SMILING face from any staff members at receptions and cafe. Non of them were friendly and we liked sitting down outside table for breakfast (for 2 days) at outdoor of their cafe and staff members can see outside tables from their huge whole glass walls but no one was attentive at all. It was hard to get an attention from them no matter how many of staff are working.

Tree Bar They did not offer any coaster for draft beer. So our table was covered with water. It is first time when I visit pub operated by HOTEL. Staff are unkind, bad service. They offer sncks for free; peanuts, wasabi snack. But even though these are different flavor, taste, they gave us at one dish. Actually, one dish is ok. But, you should seperate these two things. It is the basic knowlege when you offer different tastes of food. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE at HOTEL? So bad experience.
