My wife and I booked and paid for a two night stay (26-28/12) before we left our home in KL. Arrived at 7.30pm and we were dumbfounded by a really busy reception. To our horror, we were told by other guest that they have been waiting since 2pm for their rooms. We were later told by the front office that they can't give us a room and we need request a refund from Agoda. We couldn't find any other hotels to our choise because it was late and had to settle with any hotel available with a room! It's absolutely not professional, we understand that you may be understaffed after MCO but it's not an excuse to let guest wait for long and then just leave us hanging. Never will stay here EVER!

All in all, a good experience at an equally good price in a good location. Would recommend this to family and friend.

We have just checked in and the "superior" room is certainly not "superior". The photos are very misleading and the room is far smaller than it appears in them. Room is tiny, furnishings are very basic and yet the cost is high. The staff don't seem to care and are just fobbing us off. We are stuck with it… Definitely NOT recommended.

Located in the centre of Georgetown, a strategy hotel for traveller to visit the heritage, access to shopping malls, enjoys the local bites. Very convenient to get cabs, or buses as well. Room rate is reasonable. Add to this, it was a new building and all facilities are brand new. If you are driving, the hotel has multi storey car park and is free parking to the tenant.

Conveniently located and cheap rate compare to other nearby hotels. Rooms are clean and tidy, but rather small. Free parking is provided for hotel guests.

We booked a family room for 4 persons & were pleasantly surprised to see the layout like a 2 bedroomed apartment. The room was spacious & clean. The pillows were a little flat though but the housekeeping did not hesitate to provide us with additional pillows. All went well & we had a pleasant stay.

This is another medium hotel in Georgetown. This hotel located near to Prangin Mall, Komtar, and 1st Avenue Mall. Good place to stay.

Good accomodation and services! The room is very comfortable and the location is in the middle of the city too. Most of it are just a walking distance, or you can easily called for grabcar too. If you want to drive to all place by yourself, then bear in mind that penang is heavily traffic area.

Good: 1) Clean room. 2) Mattress, pillows and blanket are very comfy. 3) In room safety deposit box. 4) Lots of power plugs. 5) Housekeeper leaves you a note of reminder even if you turn on the "Do No Disturb sign. I think that's very thoughtful. Bad: 1) Room is quite crammed with all the bed and side tables, leaving small space for you to move around. 2) No carpet on the floor, tiles can be very cold and uncomfortable if you set the aircond at minimum temperature. 3) TV channels are limited, and picture quality quite appaling. 4) Toiletries — sadly they just provide you with a bar of soap, that's all. No shampoo, conditioner, lotion or body shampoo. 5) Iron not provided in the room. There's a common ironing area, but they only provide 1 iron.

The place is fine very close to komtar shopping mall and 1st avenue/parkson. Room clean but jus to make an adjustment the room is not big like the picture they promised.

Friendly and helpfull staff but the ameniti need upgrade. Breakfast is dissapointing. Quite noisy with groups of tourist.

Stayed for 6D5N for business trip. ❎Receptionist are not friendly. They won’t smile with you. ❎Room too small and no space for walking within the room. ❎Dirty plastic kettle. Boiled water have plastic smell. ❎Not providing toothbrush. ❎No tea spoon. They are giving plastic stirrer. ❎Shower water pressure weak. ✅Room is clean Overall, quite disappointed experience over here.

Very comfortable and well located in the town area. Just 3 minutes walking distance to the famous hawker stalls 888 Hokkien Mee at Lebuh Presgrave.

New hotel but the bath towel seems old. Shower water pressure weak. Work table is just merely small platform. Common area aircon too cold for comfort. Staff are friendly. Breakfast buffet limited varities.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. Good location (central and right next to a shopping mall) Bequem bed and clean room. Unfortunately, there was no European breakfast (rice, meat only, …). On the whole, it was fine.

Stayed at Cititel Express for 4 days 3 nights. Location is good and convenient but our stay was rather disappointing! We have booked and requested for a non-smoking room as my partner have a sensitive nose. Firstly when we checked in, we were not informed of the room being on a smoking level. When we realised that it’s a smoking level, we requested for a change of room but was told that hotel was fully booked. We asked if we can do an upgrade, which we were willing to pay, nothing was offered! Not even a transfer to its sister hotel! We were only offered to cancel and book it’s sister hotel at a premium price? Come on. What kind of hospitality service standards is this?!

Very large, helpful, compared to other hotels at the same price, its price is now very good value for money, I will recommend friends to live.

Location was quite strategic, and the rooms are quite new. We only had problem once on swiping the room access card which led us waiting outside for the maintenance. Functionality of the room could be improved, but overall was a nice place to stay in Penang.

The room is fine but their administration is really bad and staff do not performed as expected when we came in a group. Since check in I always have trouble. Staff was not able to describe in detail for the charges until manager came to settle. They may not familiar and are not ready for group! Please spare a bit more time to check in and check out.

Good location outside the Heritage zone. We had a double room with an ajoining door. Everything was neat and clean. We even asked for a late check-out and management happily obliged.

Personally, I haven't stayed here. But I've been in the rooms that my friends got when they came to Penang. It sure was nice, and rightly priced.

Receptionist very attentive. She immediately stood up when we walk out the lift from the car park and is 2am in the morning.

Hotel room was clean and had basic necessities. Not the most luxurious, but it was a really solid basic room. It is also a few minutes walk from First Avenue.

Nice rooms although a little small. No breakfast although food is everywhere in Penang. Front desk service is excellent.

Pro — nice design of the room. Clean and provide basic amenities. Parking is available with waived parking fee. Room is small which is not advisable for those who bring huge luggage. Suitable for one night stay. Area can be improved — When closing the door, it created very loud noice "bang", which can be heard the whole floor. I was disturbed by this every night from other guests. The air-conditioner in our room suspected broke down, where the temperature is very cold even we switch off the power. The 2 in 1 for shower and shampoo is not a good idea. Overall, it is a good stay. Will come back again to this hotel on the next visit.

It's a great place to book into for a hotel stay. Price is a bargain compared to the much higher quality of stay. Just no gym and swimming pool facilities which most people can do without.

The rooms are the smallest I’ve ever seen, completely unlivable. Even the bathroom — which is of a reasonable size, is simply designed poorly, having no place to set a toiletry bag when a simple shelf would suffice. The wet towel bar hangs over the toilet. I was tripping over my 2 pieces of luggage, have no idea how two people, with accompanying luggage could possibly fit in one room — and all the rooms are this size. Yet the architect chose to have 4 meter wide hallways in places. This sort of aesthetics over substance is apparent throughout the hotel. Don’t expect much, and you won’t be disappointed. While the spacious lobby and staff uniforms give a impression this is a nice place to stay, you won't be fooled for long. Having to ask for a bathmat and washcloths, having to ask for at least one English news TV channel, having to ask for two English movie channels to have audio, having to beg repeatedly for someone to instruct on the usage of the air conditioning control panel which is a complicated and unforgiving household type — push a wrong button and you’ll need the unavailable instruction manual to backtrack out of it — all in all contribute to an unpleasant, claustrophobic stay. The front desk personnel were for the most part courteous and professional, apologetically and constantly reminding one — as if one needed to be reminded — it was a two star hotel.

I wish I could find more hotels like this in SE Asia. I have nothing but praise for the front desk staff and cleaning staff. Had some problems with a bad bout of asthma, and the front desk staff not only helped me find a nearby clinic but asked how I was feeling the next day. The management at this property is to be congratulated for hiring such helpful, friendly young people to work there.

Friendly & efficient staff room is a bit small stayed on the 12th floor facing the sea & it has nice view.

You paid what you got. Everything consider in good condition. Except Wi-Fi is so so, but I common speed in malaysia. Convenience location. Im happy to stay again with this hotel if im coming back again to penang.

I wasn't impressed that I paid extra for a double room and myself and my partner are now sleeping in separate beds. When I mentioned this, there was no real sense of remorse or apology and I found no resolution. Is the hotel reasonable nice on the inside? Yes though they've set our first Christmas holiday together off at a bad start and it's really upset us.
