This hotel is not recommended at all! Although the hotel appearance is quite good-looking, but unhygienic, poor soundproofing, staff often sit outside the corridor interview day noisy.
The sheets were obviously old and small holes, and 4-5 hairs were found on the bed. My little boy in bed playing with blush to get the sheets also have blush powder. The hotel even told me that hand washing is not clean so asked me to paid money RM106. Its bed sheets has not been taken to the laundromat to clean it and said it was not clean. Are there all towels and bed sheets washed by hand is it?! That's too much, so unhygienic!
Powdered cosmetics can be washed off once with washing powder. They're cheating money!

If ever you are staying here, never ever get the shared bathroom ones. It's too far, always wet, and some showers have very little water coming out. Staff can hardly communicate well (Except for Qoshi, she's a wonderful person). The room I stayed in had a window with a broken lock that cannot be locked without the help of a spoon. Good thing no one decided to climb up the window to get to my stuff. I very much enjoyed my stay in Penang… except for the time of the day when I had to go back to this hotel.

Overall experienced was nice but not wonderful. Small defect factor were the shared bathroom is somewhat small, plug allocation were too high and TV positioning were not enjoyable.

Location wise good to local foodies… Little india, Komtar city, bus terminus and ferry ghat is in 1.5 km redious… But Penang hill and Batu Firingi beach is quite far from this place… Rooms are not up to the standard, no safe locker in room. They have wooden staircase and floor so at night it's quite noisy which disturb your sleep… Staff is helpful, need to focus on hygiene part of the hotel…

Nice clean room, very helpfull staff, and great location, in the heart of chulia sreet, where there is plenty of great food stalls, and near love lane, for fun night life.

Its a great place, strategic location sits at the middle of the most alive street in penang island at night. Me and my partner stayed there for 3 night, we even add another extra night because of the cleanliness of the hotel. We took the shared bathroom, and the bathroom wasnt disappointing. Its really clean and well facilitated, it gets clean twice a day, morning & evening. Will definitely go back there for the next time.

My favourite place to stay while having business trip to Penang. Its main attraction are the building itself which exist since colonial era. By staying here u can access penang main tourist hotspot such as along Chulia Street, Nasi Kandar Beratur, Kapitan, Hameed Soup etc. For those who like to enjoy live music & night life u can visit Love Lane, Pokok, Reggae Bar etc. Its all within the radius. Good atmosphere & hospitality by the management and its also cheap compare to others 3 star hotel.

Such a rude security. When I want to reverse the car and the place is limited and not even come and help and just sit there like a vase… and say that people want to reverse car as well. How I know got people want to reverse car if you not come and help us… spoil my morning mood…

It's great! Here is very clean, whether the waiter or clean up the staff have a very good attitude, plus points:)

Good budget hotel. Good environment and walking distance to all the clubs and bars. Even the Armenian Heritage Street is nearby-somewhat.

Wow this place is worth giving a shot if you are finding a place to stay with your friends or family it is exactly as how the pictures shown in all the travel website the price is also affordable locates at the middle of the town * (chulia street) also has a wide range of hawkers centres.

The place was pretty good but the staff working is irresponsible as the charged me for a lining fee and the promised to get back to me after months they didn’t. I called and they are throwing the ball around to other departments.

The environment are not bad and good location in the city. the room are comfortable, parking place provided and price are reasonable.

Some of the photos on the booking site were what they "expected" to look like after the renovation, rather than what they are now.

The floor on the second floor is quite old, and stepping down will have a sound and a slight sink.
The soundproofing is quite poor, and it is hard to imagine whether the first floor is disturbed by the sound of footsteps upstairs every day.
Rooms have a smell of paint, but it may be a recently renovated relationship. In addition, there is only one socket per room for four people, which is very inadequate to use.
To check in, please remember to bring an extension cable.

Indeed it looks amazing in the pic of many travel portals. Pls Dun expect too much. Bed, sofa, side tables & cabinet all from Ikea. Rather run down. Room was not well clean either, found chocolate wrapper left by the last guest next to the bed. Front service staff didn’t bother to issue a receipt for my cash payment till I request for it. I seriously doubt I will be back.

My first choice for accomodation in Penang due to affordability, cleanliness and ease of transport. Walking distance to best Mamak food in Penang (Tajuddin Hussin, Hameedia, Nasi Kandar Beratoq). Not to forget, its quiet too.

The time it's taken me to write this review because the internet access is so slow I've grown a beard, I would never stay here again the reception area is not air conditioned so unless you sit in your room you melt.
The room is basic the shower room/ toilet is cramped, it's clean but even at 16.30 the room wasn't cleaned ready for use after a day out, which was annoying.
Very hard to get information from the reception about trips around the island, or any useable information at all.
Again would Not stay here again!

Don't expect too much for such a low price stay. Everything else are clean and tidy. Sound proof is quite bad.

Can't imagine how clean it is despite the low rent! One of the cleanest hotels I have ever been within budget. Location 5* Accommodation 5* But the floor is susceptible to foot steps and the major problem we faced was electric socket. They don't work. We couldn't charge any of our gadgets.

Highly disappointing. The hotel looks amazing in pictures but in reality it is old and dilapidated. Maintenance is badly needed. There's a strange smell throughout the hotel that seems to be from mold. Additionally, the rooms do not block sound at all. If you stay here, don't expect to sleep past 7am. The only saving grace is the location. The hotel is close to bars, and within walking distance to both Chinatown and Little India.

Problems: 1 — The room has only 1 electric sockets, if you are bringing a DSLR camera, you only can charge one at a time. 2 — Majority of the electric sockets at the lobby are non functional… for display purposes only. 3 — Drinking Water is limited, please bring your own water to stay hydrated. 4 — This place have pigeon nest all around, Pray that those pigeons does not wake you up. 5 — The floor, is so susceptible to foot steps, noise control is very bad, people staying up late at that floor are enough to keep everyone awake by their foot steps and sounds. 6 — TV — wrong placing, it's placed above the door, viewing angle is bad as well. 7 — They mentioned that some things can't be tampered because it's a heritage building like adding sockets stuff… but this place is like someone planned everything, started the projects, and realized that he/she has no budget to finish it. (Why do you even put an electric sockets that is non functional at the lobby then) Good: 1 — Staff are very friendly 2 — Bathroom has warm water and basic functions that we need 3 — Tidy at least 4 — Strategic location to lots of food places and few minutes drive from here to tourist attraction spots. Suggestion to improve: Watch Gordon Ramsay hotel management tips on how to improve this place.

Really nice restored old colonial building turned into a family-class hotel!

Love the surrounding. Feel so historical. The room was clean. The staff were very helpful especially uncles who arrange the parking lot.

Room no bath only shared, still have slippers to go to the second floor to the room, the room is a little small … Nice décor.

The good: Nice location. Bicycles! Clean. The bad: Noisy. No toiletries. No towel hangers. Door unlocks ten seconds after tapping your key card (wtf).

I love it when hotels are as per described at the online booking site. Driving up into the hotel, you are met with a stylishly renovated colonial building. Ample parking, many bicycles available free for patrons. The staff is friendly and helpful. Even the cleaning and janitorial staff are happily getting on with work. Rooms are decorated all white, with AC, working Wi-Fi and TV with good channels. If you're going for the shared bathrooms, they're super clean and functional. Body wash is available. Towels and mineral water are provided. The location is strategic, the area is filled to the brim with creatively made up old buildings, most have found new lives as cafes, restaurants and reggae bars. A lot of good places to eat are within walking distance. All in all, amazing value for money.

Please ask in Penang, ferry to your hotel, take a few long! Take what the car can go.
