The rooms were badly maintained. The walls were mossy, curtains were dirty, bathroom… absolutely no comments, walls were black and the room had a musty smell.

Big pool. Nice beach. Good facilities for children. Best sunset view.

Over-rated and should not qualify as a 5-star hotel: 1. Poor check-in arrangement, no room available upon check-in 2. Only 1 lift available, and the staff is also using the one and only lift 3. Poor Wi-Fi connection 4. Insufficient utensils to serve for breakfast. Beach and pools are good, but don’t expect for the same standard and quality as the standard 5-star hotel.

I bring my family and they loved it, it have beautiful private beach & Largest pool. This place is 5 star resort but affordable to stay. The thing I don't like is, at night my child is crying a lot like something disturbing her but it settled when read a few Al-Quran surah. Overall thanks for the good staff, I would like to come again next time 😊

It is a place I have been coming to when my kids were small & continue to do so now with my friends. I love the environment — pool, beach, garden walk, food … The staff are friendly too.

Nice breakfast, crystal clear sea water and sandy beach, breakfast has various choices of meal! Kudos! Wide swimming pool but ranged from 1.4m to 2.5m in depth! Kids pool for children below 8 yo! Overall, highly recommended with affordable price!

Got many element in one covering nice room and facilities, tasty food, superb outdoor pools with slides etc, small animal farm, beautiful and privacy beach, maintaining proper SOP for Covid19 etc.

We has a great time the DIY BBQ by the beach was lit 🔥 the only downside is the internet connection was too weak. But overall it was an awesome weekend. 🥳

Basically can hear what the neighbours r doing and kids running at the corridor. Room is so dirty with dust. So sad how this hotel has turned to this bad when it used to be the nicest hotel ever back then.

Very bad service. 2 hour check in. Paid online rm500 and get a downgraded room to rm400. Day light robbery. If you cant accommodate, dont oversell your rooms. Most of the other customer also facing the same problems.

I had a great stay here with my husband and kids, we come from perlis for our short vacation. So far the room was totaly nice and clean. The staff all very friendly and well groomed. My kids loves the swimming pool very much. They have provided kettle as well. I love the food they provided at their restaurant. Nice and fresh. Sure will come again next stay here.

I enjoyed the view from my room. Would definitely return here for the view, pool, beach and kids room/play area. Beautiful hotel and facilities suitable for family, beautiful beach, sunset and sea view infinity swimming pool. Our room was in tip top condition, hotel facilities were amazing and the private beach was clean. Overall satisfied with the hotel, staff and stay experience.

Checked in today 11 October 2019. But the room is so dirty! Asked the staff at receptionist that I want to change the room but the staff said cannot and she will send the housekeeping. So bad! Toilet bowl pun ada cacing.

Very good and convenient hotel for kids especially when this hotel have special area for kids. The room is clean and have many accomadation here. I get 77% discount for seafront room.

Sumptuous Ramadan buffet, great pool — or pools as there are a couple of them! Plenty of entertainment for kids. Great family place altogether!

Dirty shower, low shower water pressure, the flush doesn't work, leaking sink. I called maintenance they come and tell me the water pressure is normal. Absolutely horrible rooms and service, don't waste your time and money, certainly no where near 5 star hotel. Totally disappointing.

We were there celebrating our anniversary on 18/3. All staff are friendly and helpful. Swimming pool is so nice and my daughter really enjoyed. Thank you for the souvenir for my daughter while checking out.

Very bad experience. Waited 2 plus hours for room to be ready. By that time it was way pass 4pm. 5 star hotel with 2 star service. Not cheap with a room costing rm 500 plus. Ended up cancelling our booking.

The room itself was marginal, at first glance it looked fine, however the floor had not been mopped as such build up. The bathroom had not been mopped/swept either and there is evidence of mould. The pool appears to be nice on the surface, however there is algae build-up. In their defence most wait staff appears to be helpful. The MOD is reluctant to take calls. I will still go back to give them another chance.

A wonderful hotel and great view of the ocean. Food served was good but not super delicious though. They have a good activities especially for team buildings. A wonderful swimming pool and it's huge. Plus there a bar in the pool too. Room is huge and reasonably clean.

I enjoyed the pool very much. Great weather during my stay. Sunset views were amazing. Definitely book the seafront rooms! Worth it. Rooms were mediocre. Chalet type rooms. Cleanliness could be better and needs upgrading but tolerable.

We use to like this hotel when Thistle first took over the hotel. However our recent trip June 2018 was extremely disappointed. On room amenities: 1. Toilet bowl replace with thin layer toilet seat (cheap ones like in motels) which is much smaller than the toilet bowl. I thought the seat was meant for children. 2. Hotel shampoo is smelly. Restaurant: 1. The restaurant which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet are Infested with flies. They had to supply candles to deter the flies from swarming the food. Room service: 1. We usually order room service and the food taste good. But now, the food taste teribble. Housekeeping: 1. There was no housekeeping provided. Didn't see any the whole day (even with our door tag requesting for cleaning) until at 4pm, we had to called the reception to arrange for cleaning and towel service. Hope Thistle will look into the condition.

Nice hotel and they have many facility that you can enjoy. But most of the time you can not use sea. Better spend time in hotel area.

Been in PD abt 6 times. N this is d 1st time I stayed in Thistle. Well some of d reviews are legit I must say.
1) D check in is kinda slow n we were asked if its ok to wait for at least up to 4pm before we could check in. However, we were really tired n exhausted. Noticing this, En Faizul, d on duty manager had been so responsived and solved our room issue in no time. Not just that he has been so polite throughout d whole process.
I would recommend that u train ur front desk staff to be more responsive and fast in attending patrons. N maybe more counters during weekend would be great.
2) Also, would strongly suggest that u check on d utensils provided in the room. We stayed in room 208 and d kettle was rusty.
3) Other than that, we r so happy and pleased with d facilities and activities provided here. Especially d pools.
4) Lego room n playroom were heaty as was made to understand that d aircond was under maintainance. (really hope u can resolve this issue as well)
5) Ur concierge n bellboy were very friendly and polite (kudos! ) n actually all ur staffs are.
Pretty sure that you will do ur best to suit ur patrons needs.

Hotel is clean and tidy but need updating. Power points are insufficient, aircond seems like not working, water heater takes too long to work also. Nice pool tho.

Very nice hotel to stay at Port Dickson with reasonable packages offered. Furnished with long clean beach and superior swimming pool make us comfortable bathing experience. Others facilities like internal games such as ping pong table, snooker table, children Lego room and movie room attracted our kids very much. Breakfast buffet was fantastic… lots of varieties from traditional Malaysian cruisin…

Great location. Private beach access. Good pool n beach bar. Good swimming pool. Great choice of seafood outside the resort. Get room facing sea n 4th floor or higher, you wont regret.

Went there for a conference so didn't get to enjoy the room as much. However they were very comfortable. Rooms are spacious and so is the toilet. Lots of activities for the little one. Breakfast and lunch is very good with assorted varieties. The downside is the waiting time for the only 2 lifts in the whole hotel.

Top choice for a young family. Second time here and would come back. Children have great time in the swimming pools and slides, and while it’s very spacious, it’s easy to keep an eye on them. Plenty of little things to do. Room are nicely done although some look mouldy. Service is just ok, check in takes a pointless amount of time. Food and beverage is just poor and overpriced to the point I would recommend not to have food here; cocktails are an expensive disaster.
Overall great place for a short break — family or just relaxing. Not a five star resort.

Thistle is an amazing hotel. Their facilities are very well maintained. Their pool is very nice and the staff is very friendly (one of them actually saved me from drowning there). Their private beach is very clean and extremely nice. This hotel is definitely a must visit if you decide to go to Port Dickson.

It was a relatively 'old' resort that needs a makeover. Amenities was aging. however, the staff was super friendly, professional and helpful. I forgot to bring my lighter to smoke but one of the staff went beyond expectation by giving me his own lighter. they have a very nice pools. Big and clean. Kids also love their pools for the children. the resort were blessed with nice landscapes and their own private beach. Landscapes were well kept and really nice. we didn't try their restaurants though. Plenty of nice restaurants /stalls nearby.

Service is very hygienic to be strengthened! At two and a half o ' clock, the booking shows 3 o ' clock in. But the counter makes us 2.30pm on check in payment. But not immediately stay in the hotel room, but next to wait, said to wait until 3 o'clock to stay. Well, we'll have to sit on the sidelines and wait until we're 3.30pm, no one to tell us can stay, but also thought that the hotel staff could not find us or something, go to the counter to inquire, a male staff said to help us check, the results told us that the room has not been sorted out, but also continue to wait! Then I said wait a long time, what method is there? Boyfriend driving very tired need to go back to the room to rest, the result of the male staff suddenly walked away, also did not tell me … I was foolishly standing at the counter waiting for a while, a female staff member came over to ask me what was wrong, I told her, said I have paid, also waited for one hours, but can not stay in the room. The female staff will help me to inquire, she used the walkie-talkie to ask room No. 272 to tidy up? I didn't expect the other person to say just put it up to 253 or 254 or something like the room number. The female staff told me I still needed to wait. Wow, so I'm not going to wait until heaven? Fortunately, the female staff look at us for a long time, to help us change the room, but the room cleanliness is really not ideal, a walk into the floor powder, dirty.

This is a very average 3 resort, that is being promoted as 5. The only thing going for it is close to the beach. Lot of facilities for kids but poor maintenance. The rooms are dirty, old fashioned and musty smelling. So called sea view rooms have views being blocked by coconut palms. The bathtub and shower area looks like they haven't been scrubbed down in 18 years and the shower curtain is covered in mildew and soap scum. The staff are very slow, they cannot speak English. It's very hard to get through to them if you try to customise the food order. The food is very Malaysian, although they boast of an Italian restaurant and Greek food, only very few continental options and poor vegetarian options. The staff are also not very accommodating of our requests. If you are not Malaysian and want a clean good place to stay, do not stay here.

Love this place so much. Went there with my little family of 4 n my parents for leisure in weekend. Stayed in Superior room with one super king bed (which can occupied both my parents and my youngest sister) + 1 day bed (my husband slept here with my 3 y. O eldest son). While my youngest and 1 slept on the floor with our inflatable queen sized bed. A spacious room instead. The swimming pool are heaven for my 2 boys as it is so big with slides. The beach can be reached after about 100m of garden walk. The breakfast buffet were quite vary but not as much as expected for a 4-5 stars hotel and same goes to the taste. Its so-so for me.

Wish I can put 1/2 star. I was a complete disappointment. The room was filthy. We found cigarette bud in a non-smoking room, stained curtains, moldy bathroom wall, door & sinks, served cold food at breakfast (the stuff even asked if someone if we could share table with another couple at breakfast). Won’t recommend at all.

Really nice hotel. Nice beach. Good swimming pool and plenty of well kept facilities. Across the entrance of the hotel is a row of shops including a restaurant and mini mart. However hotel is away from city and town. A bit pricey too.

Me, my wife and my 6 month old daughter went for a 1 day trip to PD in Mid December 2017. We were looking forward for this trip as it would be our very first vacation as a family after the birth of my daughter. However to my horror, Thistle Hotel (listed as a 5 star hotel) turned out to be a disastrous choice. Even as we were checking in at 3pm, there were only 2 counters opened catering for a very long queue. We ended up waiting for almost 45 minutes as the desk receptionist worked as an incompetent worker in the line of hotel management. As we entered our 6th floor room a sharp smell of dust turned out very obviously to my nose. As I'm an asthmatic patient, my nose are very sensitive to dusts n clearly as I began scouring through the room it seemed like the room was cleaned up many months ago n not been open for maintainence. There were no new towels n the sink was clogged and we waited for almost 6 hours for the sink to be rectified. There was even a dead bee on the corner of the room with an whole army of small red ants. The curtains had stains n walls were scribbled with pencil. The bath tub was dirty and even the wardrobe had no door. The playroom for children looked run down n dodgy. I'm very upset with Thistle Hotel Management because when I compare to my previous stays whereby I paid much lesser $ for a much reduced star hotels their treatment were actually 5 star n mind u I paid a hefty RM 570 for a negative 1 star treatment.

We have always stayed in the suites and have never been disappointed with the amenities and room facilities. They are all working and most importantly, Aircon works well! Room are immaculate and very clean. Service is done with a heart. My son just cut himself accidentally and when I asked the reception if the gift shop was opened and she found out that my son had hurt himself, she arranged for the first aid kit to be sent to our room! Really kind and thoughtful. I will definitely be back again! Excellent breakfast and BBQ buffet too.

Good for family occupancy. On the first night, got a room that is too cold as the air-con temperature cannot be adjusted. On second night, we got a room with a faulty refrigerator but air-con is working fine. Nice spread of buffet breakfast and overall my family had a good time.

Nice resort. Spacious and expansive lobby. Although old they have refurbished and maintained the place nicely. Only complaint is can't check in early as check in is 3pm and maybe they're short handed as the house keeping took quite some time to rest the room. Also it's holiday season lots of guests. Morning buffet breakfast experience could have been better if they cleared the tables promptly after guests are done and provide enough cutleries. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean. Shower pressure can be improved and also basin drainage was slow. Our ceramic basin was cracked though. Ooh and there were ants in the bed and got bitten. But they were small ones so didn't bother me or my wife.

Had a one night stay over the weekend. Bfast buffet was gd. A number of choices. Staff service was good. The Stewart's convenience store was a life saver and they had pretty much everything one can forget on a trip. WC had some stains which can be cleaned but left as was. Otherwise all was good. Spacious room.

I just got back from this trip, it was OK to nice. What I liked was my children had a blast by the beach and in the pools. Service was good and kind. But only problem is your check-in time which took. Us more than 2 hours need to. Improve. Also the dining restaurant waiting time need improve as well. Not worth the price per say but I would not mind coming again due to location to beach and great pools with slide.

Very nice surroundings, large pool can fit many. Came here for company event and had some positive experiences such as well stocked buffet line during dinner, beautiful lawn for activities and beach front is well maintained. But the positives were quickly erased by several very poor and negative experiences. For example, due to large crowd during dinner the buffet line especially the BBQ was not refilled quickly enough resulting in huge waiting crowds. Had major issues with the AC which the technician spent almost an hour fixing but was not successful. Wanted to change the room, but no spare room was available. And the lady at the front counter was not interested in offering any solution. I would recommend this place, but do check if your room has good working air-conditioning.

The hotel has a really nice pool. The staffs here are extremely polite and friendly providing very good services. The room is generally comfortable but we have a faulty faucet, balcony door, wardrobe door, and a stain on my bedsheet. Other than that, we had a pleasant night there.

Very impressed by the services from all the waiters and waitresses, bell boys and even the swimming pool/beach staff. Also enjoyed free canoeing with my son.

I like the large pool area and its surroundings. They have deeper pool for adults and slides for kids. Large grassry fields located next to the pools and outdoors activities such as teambuilding, soccer, volleyball can be arranged. You can walk along the beach and sit down under big trees to cool off from the sun.

Attended a company team building and annual dinner event for 3 days 2 nights. Resort is well kept. Staff are pretty friendly. They have an awesome free form pool, plus a kids pool and an infinity pool by the beach. Alcoholic drinks are horribly expensive though (be warned, BYOB). The buffet spread for all meals was reasonable good. The room I had looked quite tired, could be better up kept. Some colleagues had rooms with pool views and were better maintained. On the whole it is a 3 star hotel passing itself off as a 4 star. I would come back again with my young daughters as they'd love the pool.

The best resort, true resort, in PD. Rooms are clean & nice although not too modern. Was refurbished years back, at least. Sizeable resort styled swimming pool, integrated with the yard leading towards the beach. However, don't expect a soft sand beach, but just good enough for a sunset stroll. The kids room is available to keep them interested. The only resort in PD with a golf course, team building facilities & a mini botanical garden. Food served are up to certain standard. Good service too.

Nice place with a good beach just outside. The staff speaks better english than the hotels along Desaru, and are quite accommodating. The bell boys are particularly helpful. The rooms are large and not carpeted as expected for a beach resort. Toilet is large with nice marble floor. No HDMI input for TV though, and only 2 power sockets next to the dressing table. The staff at the Glass are very helpful and arranged for a slice of cake for my wife's birthday. The hotel itself didn't do anything about it though despite the fact that I notified them in the booking form (through Agoda).

The rooms are hardly 5 star. A little run down. At the rate of rm 500 I expected better. Check in process is rubbish; we had wait 2 hours for our rooms, finally got the keys at 5 pm even though we arrived early at 2 pm. The facilities are alright for kids, I liked the play rooms and swimming pool. First night we were greeted with a power failure. No lights at all in our rooms. I'm typing this while waiting at the lobby along with other guests who has electrical issues in their rooms. The only thing 5 star about this place is its price, and for that you'll get a 1 star experience.

Very nice big rooms, great seaview from the balcony. Pretty good beach with good choices of water sports. The Glass which serves Italian cuisine has very good pizzas and pastas. Overall, quite a good experience.

Safety guard at swimming pool is very very bad to me. I hate the safety guard.
