Chinatown Hostel by Mingle Hostel

The rooms are clean and well air-conditioned, but there is not a lot of space for walking. The facilities are excellent and the service is great. I particularly enjoyed the rooftop terrace and bar, which offered a great view of KL. The service was excellent as well. The location is right in the center of Chinatown with lots of local restaurants nearby. The lertronas towers are a 10 minute cab ride away. Would definitely recommend to a backpacker!

The staff was very friendly and the service was nice.
And can speak Chinese, it feels great! Hotel location is very good, a lot of food nearby, there is soy milk, Hainan chicken rice, Wi-Fi is very smooth, the first trip to Kuala Lumpur, the famous music to give me a good impression, the bed is very comfortable, super good sleep! Although the noise is a bit poor, but I think the price worthy! I'm sure I'll check in again next time.

Too bad I just stayed for a night. The place is so cool, it's classic simple yet beautiful. The price is cheap. They also have curtain in each pods.

Great place. As noted in some of the reviews, the facilities are somewhat basic. Some of the rooms have low ceiling clearances, so if you're tall watch your head. Noise from the adjoining street can be invasive, especially around Chinese New Year period (when the locals WILL set off fireworks at all hours of the night, and early morning). Staff were helpful, and kind in leading great walking tours. The rooftop is good for an evening beer as the sun sets over KL. Recommended.

Mingle hostel Thanks to mingle for being the main, if not sole reason that I had the best holiday of my life yet. Malaysia can be a tricky country but the unmatchable social areas of mingle made my entire holiday. I travelled alone and I’m leaving with a thousand friends. Great roof area, great reception area, great environment, great location. Simply a very good vibe. Mental country. Also the owner bought me a toasted coconut sandwich randomly. Thanks so much mingle, I expect you will continue growing in popularity, really great place. Mike London Xx.

Awful! Paid extra for 2 person room, it didn't matter. They let a few drunk guests party, loudly outside the rooms until 5am! Do not go if you care to sleep. Day staff was friendly. Night staff was terrible. How hard is it to ask the few drunk people to keep it down or go to an area where they wont disturb the other guests?! (This is not the managements fault, it's the fault of the night staff who cares more about talking to the female guests who are partying then they do about everyone else). I've stayed in 100 hostels and this was a top 5 worst experience. Look for a better option, they are out there. (And management, to late for me, but better talk to your night staff or your business is going to disappear, fast! )

It was very disappointing when we arrived, having booked on Bellagio for 3 weeks and we were not met referring to some of the overlays.

It was our third time in Kuala Lumpur, and this is definitely the least good hotel we stayed at, considering the price. Shared bathroom, basic bedroom. You'll find mutch better places around China Town for a lower price. Not considering the value, great location, very well kept and clean. Friendly and helpful staff.

Below average hostel with nice decorations. A four bed dorm is basically 12+ as you can hear every pin drop in the adjacent rooms. Common area is just the roof, which isn't exceptionally comfortable, and when it was raining the dry half was PACKED. This also means you are stuck buying their drinks (they aren't too exhorbitant, but if the bar is the only common area… you're stuck). Also, I was told breakfast until 10:30 but when I got there at 10:15 there was nothing. Pretty upsetting, and I'm pretty dang sure I didn't hear wrong. Do yourself a favor and book at any of the other hostels in the area and save yourself 20 ringgit and sleep better.

Beautiful hostel. Feels vintage and quiet secure. Close by to public transport and 7/11's (right next door). The hostel is well maintained. Breakfast was not that great. Rooftop bar is good for a drink or two and catch up with hostel mates. Not able to post a video of the hostel.

After quite a long journey we arrived at this hostel rather easily. One can take the train from the airport (approx. 11€) and take a cab (if the metro is not operating, due to a late night arrival), which should cost about 35 ringgit. The metro is also close by, approx. 2 minutes walk. The staff is friendly and will explain everything you need to know in proper English. Everything was clean, including toilets and showers (which are separated). They provide a lot of extras like an off-site rooftop pool, which was amazing and for free. Additionally, the café beneath the hostel gives you 20% discount if you show your key card. In my opinion, everything is close by, thus, in a walkable distance. On the opposite site of the street is a restaurant (opens in the evening) which is not only cheap, but also delicious. Breakfast is okay, nothing special, but it was included in the stay, so, nothing to complain about, really. A stay is definitely recommended.

Good location, where Chinatown. Clean and comfortable Hostel. The best is the chill for a drink and its décor. The worst the breakfast.

Location is great, near train station and right off petaling street. Staff are very friendly, room was clean and came with towels. Showers and bathroom were also clean. Only thing which was disappointing was breakfast that came included with the room. No coffee hot water from dispenser wasn’t working so no tea as well. We found a container of scrambled eggs which were cold by 8 and a few pieces of watermelon. Rest was fine, Wi-Fi worked well.

We booked a private room with two twin beds. The room was tiny but very clean and cute. The decor in the whole hostel is very nice and staff is friendly. Toilets and showered cleaned regularly. Walls are paper thin so if you're a light sleeper this isn't the place for you. Free breakfast was very poor for the price you pay for a room, but there are many cheap breakfast places around.

Minus one star because of the lack of sound isolation. You can hear all the sounds from other rooms. But overall a great hostel. Helpful staff, nice and free breakfast, great shower, every bed has a curtain to give you privacy, every bed has an air conditioner (but I smelled cigarette coming out from the AC one night, which I found a little annoying). Would definitely come here again next time I visit KL!

Beautiful hostel in the heart of Little India, with a great international crowd. The rooms are small but tidy, as well as the bathrooms. Plus, awesome terrace and the bartender is amazing! (will always be thankful for his mohitos :) )

Lovely hostel, the usual backpackers, small dorms but comfy beds. OK showers and toilets. Great staff, seemingly nice events and food tours organized. Recommend.

The rooms lack sound isolation, and everyone is packed in the building so tight. This makes it very, very noisy. They even give you ear plugs when you check in, which is nice, but I hate having to sleep with ear plugs in, and I think most other people do too. The hot water did not work very well. It was kind of cold sometimes. The common area is really just the rooftop. I think it's nice to have an air conditioned common space with furniture more appropriate for lounging, for example, sofas and bean bags rather than stools and benches. I've stayed in more comfortable hostels that were cheaper than here. Also, it's possible to find AC single or double rooms rooms for around the same price as the dorm here, so I don't think it's a good value.

Amazing! beautiful interieur! Clean, nice bathrooms! fantastic location! Great staff! Lawson the bartender/DJ knows all the best places to visit! Great cocktails nice music at the rooftop! I met so many new friends loved it so much! Wish I could live there forever haha.

A great place for those who travel alone or in small groups. Very lively and good atmosphere. They really are empasizing you to mingle.

Super cool place stay. 20m from Petaling Street and a short walk to great food at Jalan Alor. It's clean and we'll run. Rooftop patio to hangout as well.

Nicest owner and crew I ever met. Period. Super clean, especially the bathrooms get cleaned multiple times a day. Normal pods are too small for a person like me (1, 92m or 6"2'), so I went for a queen pod instead. Slept like a baby. Pods have small air cons so you don't wake up in an oven because you closed the curtains for the night. Staff is always there to help you and really go out of their way to make you happy. Just talk to them! But not only that, they organize trips and little get-togethers, local food-tastings and open mic nights. Rooftop bar & hangout area is a good place to work or get to know people. Both is possible ;) I'll be back!

Private 4 person dorm rooms with privacy curtain, light and electrical outlet. Large storage locker for each bunk. Shared washrooms are large and clean. Rooftop lounge serves decent breakfast in the morning (eggs, toast, jam, coffee/tea, potatoes and/or rice), and turns into a bar in the evening which is great for 'mingling' with fellow guests. Reliable high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the property. The hostel also offers many events and tours throughout the week. Check it out!

Hostel overall very good, great staff… cleanliness in the standard even if done at 6.30 in the morning, close to the metro and easy to get to. In the room from 4 we move to fatigue. For the fifth star it would take a maintenance ride throughout the facility.

Nice place with comfortable pod beds, but rooms were warm at night (despite the AC). Free breakfast includes toast, weird texture eggs (almost like eggs + potato? ), and coffee/tea. Nice rooftop hangout, but there isn't much of a common area inside to socialize.

Retains the classical design of the building, mixing modern delicacies, is a major tourist experience.
