This place was beyond disappointing. It is advertised as a 'luxury' property, and may have been years ago, but we found it to be run down and abandoned. In addition, we only saw the owners once at the property — and the rest of the time there was one person or no one on the property. It's such a shame because we had such high hopes for the place. Our biggest issue was that the owner told us to bring cash as she claimed that no one in Beirut accepted credit cards. We quickly found out that she had lied to us in order to get paid in cash — as everyone else accepted credit cards. The funny thing is that if she had just asked, we would have gladly paid in cash. We felt unsafe leaving so much cash in the hotel room — given the place is on a side street and not very well monitored. When we sent an email to the owner the on the last day because we just wanted her to know that we had a bad experience, she responded with insults and countered everything we said. I hope that the owners take these reviews seriously and turn the property around because it has so much potential. The only reason i'm giving it 2 stars is that the location was in a great neighborhood (but people we met said there are other much better properties around that area).

Marie Helene, Olivier and their gorgeous children Clara n Patrick are welcoming and warm hosts! With Villa Clara they have created a small heaven in a historic building full of tasteful art and design. Breakfasts by Olivier, Clara and Patrick are yummy n enjoyed in the mansion’s beautiful, private garden. Marie Helene has been graciously sharing her island experiences and connections which has made our stay at Villa Clara truly unforgettable!
