Hostel

A lovely place with extremely kind staff. During a very quiet period at the hostel, the staff upgraded my room at no extra cost as they saw that I was tall and would not fit comfortably into the bunk beds. They showed me the best places to go in Wakayama and I enjoyed just talking to them in the lounge. No complaints, had a great stay.

Great place to stay on Wakayama. Staff is really Nice and advised us places to have good meal in the neighbourhood (we especially enjoyed the Blue Fish). Highly recommended.

Quite possibly the nicest hostel I've stayed in. The design is fantastic with all the exposed concrete and wood but it's still a warm place to be in. Friendly hosts and the reception is a great place to sit for a drink or for the delicious breakfast in the morning. I'd like to come back to check out the shared space they were building as I'm sure it'll be great.
Also make sure to check out the rooftop for some great views.

Clean rooms and comfort rooms. The rooms are a bit crowded and the dividers are all wood. It is good for short stay for on the go travellers. There are a lot of shops around but the train station is a bit far. You would need to ride a bus to go to the mall. If you are looking for soaplands there are a lot nearby.

Guesthouse Rico was a great place to stay in Wakayama! We had a wonderful (huge! ) room with tatami mats and futons, a kitchenette, and tea room. We also have a lecture in their space on the ground floor, which was great! Thanks. For the great stay!

Guesthouse RICO is a very pleasant place to stay in downtown Wakayama City. The guesthouse has industrial design style throughout. There are private rooms and shared hostle style very affordable rooms. The lobby is nicely designed and has a public computer, meeting space, guidebooks, really cool plants, and beverage bar. Hosts are very familiar with Wakayama and helpful for you to explore. I highly recommend Guesthouse RICO!

In late April 2017 this was the starting point of my Japan tour by bicycle. After two ferry trips to get here, I was surprised by guesthouse. It was a great nights sleep and staff were terrific, shame it was so short a stay. Hope to be back in 2018.

Hostel with industrial style feel. Huge dorms, clean, friendly staff. Recommended.

An excellent place for backpack travellers to stay. You'll get to meet with other travellers from various of Japan or even from different parts of the world. You and the hosts will chat with each other during dinner where you can make Temaki Sushi DIY~

Clean, friendly staff, nice social areas. No kitchen, handmade bunks very wobbly and placed on tatami, so they shook a lot, making it hard to sleep. Not much air circulation.

Needed somewhere close to the ferry after late arrival. Young Mari signed me in gave me all details about the place even gave me a safe place to park my bicycle. The rooms are on the 5th floor and seem to be refurbished from an industrial building, loved the quirkiness of the place.

We arrived late hoping for a vacant room, and the hosts were so nice and helpful! We recieved a nice and large room with traditional japanese tatami mats. The interior design is really cool, I personally loved how the shower is made in concrete and the color of the doors. Upon check out we recieved great tips for our next route, and the breakfast was lovely.
The hostel is tiny, but cozy and has a lot of personality. Our hosts were helpful, warm and welcomming! Absolutely worth the trip to Wakayama!

You can tell that the owner put A LOT of artistic attention to this guesthouse. The lobby area is decorated really well, and is very pleasant to look at. Unfortunately it is kind of small, but I see that they are looking to expand into the space next door. The location is close to downtown, and 10 walk to Wakayama castle. There is an amazing restaurant nearby that you must try "中心屋 母家". The floors are concrete (which is very nice, modern, and clean feeling), and there is a balcony. The sleeping areas are shared bunk beds, and everything about the place is clean, and I would highly recommend this place.

Amazing space recently renovated a very minimalist modern feel. Very clean and spacious for Japanese hostels. Only down side are towels and breakfast are not included.
