Very good reception, clean rooms, guests available as needed and can speak English.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in late September 2017. The owners were so nice and helpful (even though they do not speak much English). The ryokan was clean and our room was very spacious. I loved that this was about a 10 min walk to the larger train station but also had access to a few smaller stations as well. There are some restaurants around here and it is within walking distance to the ueno zoo. Ueno was my favorite neighborhood we went to in Tokyo during our visit as it is still in close proximity to train stations yet a little more quiet and less touristy (when not in Cherry blossom season from what I hear). Definitely would stay here again.

Peaceful traditional Ryokan. Enjoyed it as a one night stay, and would stay again. Room we had was big enough for 3 — 4 people, bathroom's also big and not squishy. Both room amd bathroom was clean and neat. Overall enjoyable stay.

Nice place. Not too far fron the subway, though it feels a lot farther when you're draging heavy suitcases! If you're looking for a Western style hotel, go somewhere else. Be prepared to take off your shoes; it's Japanese custom to leave your shoes at the front door. The staff/owner is very helpful; he (I'm assuming it's the owner or manager) speaks English, though some staff do not. Basic rooms have a shared bathroom and shower; you share the facilities with all guests that have basic rooms. There's also a public bathhouse nearby if you prefer. We went during a slow month, so we got a free room upgrade — bigger with a private toilet/shower. Laundry is available, but is costs ¥300 and you have to do it yourself. Overall, a nice place to stay if you want an inexpensive place and a more traditional Japanese feel.

The two who run this place are very nice. The man speaks very good English, the woman does not, but they are both very good at responding to requests as quickly as possible. The room we booked didn't have a bathroom attached, but the common areas are always very clean and neat, and it wasn't as inconvenient to share with others as I thought it would be. If I return to Japan, I'm definitely trying to stay here again.

Nice neighborhood. Clean place and very typical Japanese style accommodation but the place need some freshen up. Some rooms have shared bathroom, some ensuite. No breakfast available, but there are cafes and a cosy hotel with cafeteria nearby.

Excellent stay. Typically Japanese, simple, clean, helpful owners. Will stay here on my next visit.

This Ryokan is probably one of the best places to stay in Tokyo on a budget. Close to Ueno station, very friendly staff, on a calm street. You cannot eat in the Hotel, but there is a food store literally on the other side of the street and restaurants are very close nearby. Wifi is excellent. AC is in the rooms. There is free coffee and tea in the lobby. The staff knows quite a bit of English for Japanese standards. There is a library with guide books for Tokyo and a Computer available to the guests. Note that they only clean from 10:00 to 12:00, so that if you want to have your room cleaned you have to be outside during this period. Definitely worth a stay. Stayed August 2016. It was very hot outside.

A very good ryokan, affordable and comfortable. Most customers were foreigners so don't worry about the language. It is a bit far from Ueno JR station, but the environment is very nice and quiet, this makes a nice stroll in the morning before visiting Tokyo. Ueno is very convenient to go to Narita or Nikko.

Large rooms, good bathroom and all clean. Pretty far from the JR ueno station ~15min.

We really enjoyed our stay at the ryokan. The personell was very kind and the rooms were clean and nice, though not too big after all. We had room service everyday, even once when we left after 11 o`clock. The shared shower room is great and absolutely clean. The neighbourhood is awesome. 10 Minutes walk to dozens of temples, to the zoo, Ueno Park, Shinobazu Pond and the museums around. It also is easy to find, just follow the street signs. Ueno Station and Nezu Subway Station are both less than a 10 Minutes walk, Asakusa with its beautiful temples and Akahibara, the electric town, are both only a few Stations away. However, Shinjuku, Shibuya and Roppongi are quite a long ride on the subway. Nevertheless this ryokan is a really great place especially for those who want to experience a little of japanese living style. The inside is really very japanese. Those who were there know what im talking about :) The room rates are adequate for Tokyo and I think we were even charged a little less than the prices on the website.
