I think this place qualifies as a two-star hotel and not a hostel. It's that nice. We tried both the female dorms and the family room (quad), and I must say, they were all awesome. Clean, soft beds and sheets, ample lighting, and great sound-proofing (for the quad room at least). Some of the biggest rooms we've stayed in while in Japan. It's a short walk to Uguisudani Station and even if they say it's a red light district, we found the area generally pleasant. A lot of food options, too!

I had a private room and it was very clean and the bed was bloodly great. The services offered are also pretty great and if you need anything or want any help, they will help you.

Very clean, modern, and spacious common area, but I feel like the bedrooms need some work. The top bunks are exposed to the bright lights that are right above them with no coverage. This made it very difficult to sleep.

Small but comfortable pods — — I checked at past midnight with no issues. The place was surprisingly quiet for a hostel, but bring a face mask if you're sensitive to light (you will wake up otherwise depending on your location when people come in / out in the AM). Good shower privacy, bathroom is nice with free shared toiletries. The staff speaker English well and are very nice and helpful. Public transport and a transport bus to Narita (Airport Limousine) are a 5 min walk.

Super cheap and had everything we needed! The rooms were nice and cold which was a big difference from many hostels we stayed at while in Japan. There were also phones they provided which was incredibly convenient so I didn't need to worry about our portable Wi-Fi dying.

Quiet, clean, good wi-Fi connection, kitchen shared with everything you need, dryer, hair straightener and free curling iron, shampoo, soap, free body lotion, towel for rent, locker at no cost, security lockers at $100 ¥ for all your Stay, showers and shared bathrooms, free coffee and tea, TIP don't forget to check the free food area in the kitchen cupboard. Access to JR Yamanote line 5 minutes walk, Ueno Park, Tokyo Zoo, museums 10 minutes walk, Kappabashi Street 10 minutes walk. It's definitely worth a lot, much more than it costs.

Economical, well serviced and in good location, a few blocks from a station of the Yamanote line.

Great place. Near train station plenty of places to eat. Staff are friendly and helpful. All speak Japanese and English.

Close to Uguisidani Station, comfortable bedrooms. The personal is kind and helpful. I would totally recommend it m.

Before check-in by the customer service to make a very hot, after check-in everything is very good, hardware is great. Fortunately, the employee who did not meet the letter.

Loved our stay with Oak Hostel. The staff were great and spoke really good English. I needed some help with a few Japanese translations and the front desk staff helped out. The kitchen is really big with complementary coffee and tea, there is a 7/11 around the corner for some cheap breakfast and dinner eats or you can check out the restaurants in the local neighbourhood. The hostel is right near the JR Line around Tokyo.

Stayed here for a while before moving into my apartment. It was a decent hostel, very affordable and good cooking facilities. The curtains around the bunk beds gave a feeling of privacy. It was relatively quiet. Location in Uguisudani isn't amazing but still pretty convenient as it's on the Yamanote line. Not a "party hostel", there is a common space but it was pretty quiet the whole time I was there.

Fantastic Hostel, excellent service and friendly, helpful staff. Be warned that it is a little out of the way, and the area can get a little Sketchy (For Tokyo anyway) at night. Neither of those are the fault of the hostel itself, and so it retains the 5 stars.

Great hostel! Inside, there's always a good vibe and cozy feeling. The tourists all communicate freely, even though they are from different cultures! Nice place to stay!

Staff is very welcoming and friendly, speaks English very well, and will help you out with whatever you need. The place itself is very comfortable, it has a lounge, and a kitchen, and Wi-Fi everywhere. There are vending machines, but the next supermarket and convenience store are right around the corner. It's not the most convenient location, but the major transportation services are about five minutes away in each direction. This gives you easy access to everything in Tokyo. If you like going out, Ueno if within walking distance, making the last train problem nonexistent. The semi double room bed might be a bit small for westerners, but it's paradise for a single person. I had a very pleasant stay.

Very good accommodation. Clean, new and well furnished. We'd love to come back.

Excellent hostel to be in Tokyo.

Amazing service, friendly staff and guests. All of the essential amenities are provided, especially if you get a room with a bathroom. They also host optional community events which are fun. Also located right next to a rail station.

The location is excellent, close to the metro uguisudani on the yamanote line, which connects you to almost all the points of interest of the city. Quiet neighborhood. Clean hostel. Change of towels and yukata daily. The staff speaks English. Small flaw, there are no outlets in the bathroom and missing a small closet or something similar to put the clothes. Also the wi fi in the room goes a bit in fits and starts.

Clean, great price, friendly and the best budget room we stayed in with mini fridge and modular private bathroom. They even have retro games consoles to hire a big kitchen and beer in the vending machine.

Clean rooms. Great kitchen facilities. Hot showers with good pressure.

I didn't read the details when selecting the room. "Deluxe double" sounds like a very nice double bed. When we got there it was actually a semi double bed with an ensuite bathroom. Very miss leading.

Dorm for travellers. The best dorm I have seen so far. It is a great way to interact with guests and locals alike. Your privacy is limited to the four corners of your capsule or curtained bed that has a light and outlets. Every thing you need is in the dorm: Cofee, Tea, microwave, Water, etc. But just like any dorm, when someone is in the restroom or cubicle, you need to wait. You need to hold your pee. You need to hold your poop until there is an available toilet. Luckily, this never happened to me. I wonder why. God is good. Anyone that is here must learn to use the lockers. Follow all the directions written and then it will lock. In the eventuality that an error happens, anyone at the front desk is always there to help. It is important to mention that the shower room and the restroom are not in the same room. The entrance has the restroom and the room across the quarters are the shower rooms.

Oak Hostel Zen is pretty alright. Its near to the Uguisudani station and 1 stop away from Ueno! The place is clean and I never had to queue for the shower. The girls domitory is really quiet. Though if you're looking for people to hang out with i'm not sure this hostel is the place.

Wonderful hostel. Everything you could want for an affordable stay in Tokyo, from the friendly staff to the convenient location.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hostel is clean and the design is pleasant. It takes only 6-7 minutes to get to a JR or subway station. Unfortunately there was no elevator. The room was very small with only a windowsill for a table, there is a hair dryer in the room, but only 1 iron for borrowing for the whole hostel and a pot only in the common kitchen far from our room. Also, all sounds are as if people stand right by your bedside and shout at your ear.

This place was great. We stayed in a private double room with ensuite. It was fairly small but didn't bother us too much, was clean and a very short walk to jr station uguisudani. Great affordable food in walking distance too. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, most especially Mika.

This is what of the best hostels I've stayed in! It is a 3 minute walk from Uguisudani station, so conveniently located. The hostel was clean and the staff were super friendly. Mika was helpful with all the questions we had, she was always welcoming us home and remembered what we liked to keep us informed with activities we would like. You can borrow the DVD player and DVDs to watch, hang out downstairs or walk just close by to all the food stalls (meat sticks for 70yen). Thank you Oak hostel zen and thank you Mika!

It was first time in tokyo, I like oak hostel zen verymuch, perferct everythings, location, comfortable, staff, price, and I will be come again^^

The Hostel is close to Uguisudani station, which is quite handy if you have a JR pass. There are big lockers to leave lots of stuff, and also smaller and more secure lockers for your most valuable possessions for a refundable 100 yen coin. Showers and toilets were clean, good water temperature and pressure. Common spaces were big and comfortable. There's a big kitchen with dinning tables, there's also free coffee and tea. There are a couple of computers you can freely use. Staff was very nice.

It was my first time in Tokyo with my family, so everything is basically" first time". I had the chance to see this chic hostel online and I was fascinated with the good reviews I've read. We took the family room. The staff were all polite. Our room is always tidy and the atmosphere is really quiet. Plus the location is good because of its close proximity to the JR train station. Overall, everything is good here.

Incredibly polite, friendly and helpful. Cosy rooms that are well looked after. The hotel is outside the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, but a short train ride into the beautiful mayhem.

Great hostel, good price for Tokyo. Good staff, had no problems. Wifi was good, has laundry in building, reasonably comfortable bed.

This hostel is great, conveniently located close to the Uguisudani train station. I stayed in a dorm that was clean & spacious. The common room and kitchen were clean & nice to chat with other travelers.

Clean, Quite and feels like home. It was awesome got experienced there. You will get patient, friendly and helpful receptionist to guide you and tells you about Tokyo and surrounding hotel with train transportation or bus. I was at 206 room number with nice view.

Location was great, 5 min walk to uguisadani station. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Amenities are good. Would highly recommend.

It was a small quaint room with everything you need for a short stay. The staff were knowledgable and fast.

This hostel saved me when I foolishly forgot to book a place in Tokyo over the summer. The staff were super helpful over the phone, giving me bus lines I could take from where I was since I wasn't near a train station. Very nice facilities, this is a fairly new hostel so everything is nice and clean.

Best place for backpacker and economical shelter seeker. However, the service, quality and cleanliness are perfect. No bad points to complain.

Great hostel for the money! I did not expect. Very clean and comfortable. It seems that recently work — everything is new! All in excellent condition. The first impression is very good! Would recommend! From station 5 minutes walk. Near family mart. It is really good and cheap hostel! We were wonder. Very cute. Clear everywhere. I think that it is a new hostel, because all in perfect condition :) 5 min to the station Family mart on the door step.

Nice place. Just 10 mins walk to Ueno Park and 5 mins walk to closest JR station Uguisudani. A bit pricey compared to other dorms in Asakusa. Decent location and very clean, comfy dorms with excellent linen quality but the showers and wash-rooms are awkwardly placed very close to the reception on the ground floor. Staff is great and kind though.

Affordable, clean, very quiet, each dorm bed has its own privacy (curtains! ) and electrig plug. The common room even gas hairdryer. A 5stars hostel.

Good for backpackers. With common kitchen.
