Reviews of Book Tea Bed Azabu-Juban 1*
Tricky to find but a great place to stay. Not to far to walk from the nearest JR station using Google maps and once I'd got my bearings I knew where to find it amongst the back streets. There's a supermarket nearby which was handy. The shower is lovely and powerful and available 24hrs a day so no time restrictions unlike the other Book, Tea Bed I stayed at. Comfortable little cubbyholes to sleep in with a light, hanger, little table and a safe. I did get a bit warm but they had an air con machine and also plug in fans available on request. I loved looking through the bookshelves and reading Spirited Away into the early hours of the morning. There's a bar and toiletries you can purchase too. My bags and suitcases remained perfectly safe but then there was only one other person sharing the basement, mixed dorm with me.
I will definately stay here again, comfy bed, clean, nice staff, hester room, heater toilet, books everywhere, cute deco, close to subway.

Overall a very pleasant stay. However, some points for those who may have special concerns: -The "mixed dormitory" beds are not lockable or noise-segregated — you just get a curtain to pull closed. -You may get a bed either with the entrance on the side or along the foot of the bed — the second kind may be harder to get into if you have mobility issues. -On the second floor where I stayed, one of the bunk bed ladders is in the way of the door to the bathroom door, so this was a bit frustrating. A large person might not be able to get through easily. -No individual AC per bed, so you cannot control your own temperature. -Showers are only on ground floor (reception/lounge), so you have to go down the stairs outside to shower. (Each sleeping room does have toilets and sinks, however. ) The advantage is that no one will be showering late at night near you. Those aside, I enjoyed everything else about the place. Pluses: -It was still very comfortable and easy to sleep in. The room was always kept at a comfortably cool temperature, even in the hot days of late July to early August. People are also respectful and quiet, so noise was not an issue. -Each room is locked with a keycode so you don't need to bring around a key. Very convenient! -Very clean and well-maintained bathrooms and showers. -Though the room sleeps 10 people, I think it never had more than ~5 while I was there. Thus, it never felt crowded, noisy, or unsafe, and bathrooms and showers were always available.
