I stayed at JGH a few months ago for a few days and I'm not unhappy with my experience there. Mieko who runs the place is very warm and welcoming. The exterior of the building looks slightly ramshackle but the place is more than adequate for a few days' stopover. I didn't find the Wi-Fi receptivity bad at all. Plus there is a large supermarket very close by — I'd say around 5 minutes away on foot. I stayed in the dorm room and I could only find a single lavatory and shower room beside the kitchen area. It didn't affect me much though since at the time the hostel was very calm with very few guests. The kitchen area was fine for breakfast. The fridge is ideal for storing your own large carton of soy milk, and there's space on the fridge itself for a packet of German muesli. Additionally there is a microwave, but no stove, nor a rice cooker as far as I could see. I didn't find the absence of these appliances distressing. As I've said, JGH is ideal for a few short days if you're planning to spend your days elsewhere in Tokyo or places near the capital. Outside, the hostel is very close to the river. Up on the banks there are wide cycle paths which are ideal for a 1 hour run. I enjoyed my stay there.

The woman who owns the hostel is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and is fluently bilingual in English and Japanese. The rooms have air conditioning and are very comfortable, only drawback is it's hard to get Wi-Fi anywhere besides the main lobby, but that isn't a big deal.

Really nice staff. Great place to choose for the summer because there's air conditioning. Only a 15 minute walk to and from the train station.
