Beautiful room, very clean facilities. My room had a beautiful view of the mountains. Included in the room were a private toilet and sink. Showers are in a shared public area just adjacent to the public baths. If you're as jet lagged as I was, you can head down to the bath early in the morning (they're open all night until 10am) for a quiet and private shower and dip in the sweltering hot baths! The breakfast was included with the room, it was excellent traditional Japanese fare with rice, an assortment of vegetables (spinach, beans, bean sprouts, roots) and meat (there were options for salmon, pork or crab), and endless coffee and tea. Overall a great experience!

Staff, service and excellent facilities.

Traditional experience. Yukatas are provided and the dining hall foods are delicious. Bath house and mineral springs are nice and hot! Atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet and everything is very clean. Would go again.

Pretty good hotel. Lots of tourists visit here. Have English and Chinese speaking receptionist so communication is not a problem. The onsen uses real natural hot spring water and feels great on the skin.

A good place to go to relax on your trip to Japan, dinner and breakfast simply spectacular, the Japanese typical room gives a very good Japanese experience, especially if you offer private onsen area make it clear what you want, they do not know much.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay. Stayed one night and wish we had booked more. The location is very good, and staff there are very accommodating and helpful. Quite a few speak English, so it's good for foreign travelers. We booked the private onsen, which is definitely worth it for the privacy and gorgeous view. The food is generous and delicious and beautifully presented, my favourite of all the places I stayed this trip. All in all, very worth the trip and definitely worth coming back to.

Absolutely lovely hotel, food and service was amazing! We stayed in a standard tatami room but all the little things were thought about including tea on arrival in the room etc and towels for the Onsen. We booked the private one which is well worth doing!

Definitely the best thing about the hotel are the dinner and the breakfast. Lots of food and very good. There are three private onsen and are paid but nothing guarantees that you will be able to try them as they are very much requested and you have to reserve them just to arrive. We were in the two baths and the views are not bad but the water was not so hot and in nothing you were cold. I didn't get to see the public onsen because we only stayed one night and the rest of the day we were doing trekking. The quality of the sleep is not excellent. The fridge and other gadgets make noise. Even Desenchufándolos everyone could hear the other rooms. The service well in general, especially in the dining room.

Small and modest, yet efficient and with a beautiful and great location. The onset was also fairly modest yet the ambiance was amazing and it seemed quite authentic. I would return, the value was there and I feel the multiple times I used the baths really helped my travel weary bones.

Best hospitality Hakone has to offer! … Was amazed at the breakfast and dinner which offered local and seasonal ingredients! The property also caters to diet restrictions which was great for me! The room features tatami floor and basic amenities. They have private onsen which can be reserved upon check-in. A must for onsen lovers! — friendly staff — staff speaks English / Mandarin — great location — bus stops infront of property.

Staff was extremely helpful, being able to speak multiple languages. The onsens were well kept, and very warm. The addition of a break room was brilliant for our groups, with a ping pong table to burn time. The rooms were also clean without any smells, and the view in the morning was fine.

One of the best hotel especially with the customer service and value for money. It is super clean! The private onsen is very affordable and is a must try!

The service was good. The dinner set has great varieties but the taste is not fascinating. The meal is served in a hall and not in the room. The family onsen is nicely decorated.

Good connection with bus from Odawara train station. In the village there are not too many things to see but if there is a temple and the area is nice. The Ryokan is very nice and the dinner and breakfast of 10, very good.

Had a very pleasant stay in Mount View. Their staffs are very friendly and helpful, especially helpful for mandarin speaker where they have staffs that are able to speak in mandarin. Their hot spring is great, same goes to their rooms and decoration. Their morning teishoku menu is good, but can be improved. The biggest downside is that this ryokan is very far from tourist spot, which might be a positive for it's calmness. Would visit again.

Great location. Bus stop right in front. Staff very helpful and friendly. We had breakfast and dinner and the food was delicious. Room was beautiful and clean. Olsen was wonderful and relaxing.

Loved the onsen and the traditional feel. The only downsides were that dinner was a bit bland and the pillows were not comfortable at all.

Before visiting the hotel, I thought about it a lot because I had to transport myself by bus to Hakone and did not know what to expect. However I do not regret, during my stay in Japan was the place where I felt more at ease: it's quiet, the staff is friendly, the food is second to none. An experience that I definitely recommend.

Mountain View Hakone is a japanese traditional accomodation in the upper zone of Hakone. It has a beautiful traditional atmosphere in all the hotel, rooms included although they are modern and well-equipped. The service is amazing, they explain you all about yukata, tea, baths and all Japanese traditions and ceremonies. The breakfast and dinner are a degustation menu of all of Japanese foods. Mount View Hakone is a cosy and beautiful hotel to rest and relax near to Tokyo. Recommended.

Great place at the top of mount Hakone. Quiet inn with traditional Japanese rooms and amazing hot spring water baths with the option to book a private bath (absolutely recommend the private bath).

Staying at Mount View Hakone was definitely worth the price to experience a ryokan. The room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were very friendly and professional. They allowed us to keep our luggage at reception prior to check in so we could explore Hakone. We returned a few hours after our check in time and they had taken out luggage to our room for us! Most of the staff spoke English, but we were a bit confused at times about what was expected of us as guests (we weren't sure when we should/should not wear our kimono, etc). They had a private onsen available to reserve at an additional cost and it was very enjoyable. Overall, my evening at Mount View Hakone was my favorite during my whole trip to Japan.

Just fabulous and worthwhile! I do not want to say more, so that the future visitor is as impressed as I was when I entered the museum.

Mount view was all about great service and feeling taken care of. We had fantastic meals at the there private onsen was so relaxing.

Amazing experience. Traditional rooms but with futons very very comfortable. The food was very nice and the breakfast was very nice. The Onsen experience and the well placed for visits that are make it very highly recommended.

This was a pretty great hotel and an awesome first experience at a ryokan. I shelled out the extra for dinner/breakfast and the private onsen and both were totally worth it. The portions at both meals were ENORMOUS and delicious. The onsen was super relaxing, though the shower stool was way too small. The staff's English was halting but serviceable, and they were all very friendly. The one negative is that the hotel is pretty out of the way. It's a long bus ride to the Odawara train station (over 1 hour), and a medium bus ride to Lake Ashi. Besides a convenience store and the Little Prince Museum, there wasn't anything around — but maybe that's good for relaxing!

Great medium-sized ryokan. Easy to find from Tokyo with the highway bus and easy to get to Hakone attractions with the city bus. Public and private onsens are nice. Dinner and Breakfast were absolutely incredible, so be sure to include those (also because there are not many restaurants nearby). Staff was helpful and welcoming.

The environment service is very good Oh, the hot soup really good comfortable.

Nice hotel with mountains view but my room has a thermo pump which high pitch (almost inaudible) noise was disturbing. Other than that everything else was perfect. Room is quite spacious. Onsen is open 24/7. We are in Japan and the staff is very attentive even if their english is limited. We stayed 2 days in one end room on 2nd level. Supper was nice even if I prefer to have a small charcoal grill thing instead of the big boiling pot of soup. You can reach this hotel by bus from the Odawara train station. The best, if you stay 2 or 3 days is buying a 3 day bus pass which costs 4000 yens. Buy it at Odawara Tourist Information Center in the train station. Bus trip is a 40 minute ride. Beware that this a city bus and you have to lug your bag onto the bus.

The easiest way to access Mount View Hakone from Tokyo (Shinjuku station) is by the Oyaku Highway bus. The bus stops right outside the front door and has a faster travel time than the regular train (about 2 hours versus 3-3.5 hours factoring in the train and bus time), and comparable time to the romance train and then bus. You can combine the bus ticket cost with the Hakone Free Pass for an additional 800 yen, which if you are pressed for time is worth it. The ryokan is very comfortable, perhaps slightly dated, but the stand out is the dinner. Get the half room and board and you won't be disappointed. The staff are very kind and helpful. We arranged to have a shiatsu massage before we arrived and can't recommend enough that you do the same.

This is a beautiful place up in Hakone. They worked so hard to cater to our needs for vegan food, and the service was excellent all around. The outdoor hot spring for men has a nice, if limited, view of a bamboo forest, and for women it is just a standard forest. That said, it is beautiful green fresh mountain water and it felt absolutely relaxing and invigorating. Go for two nights so you can get a day of walking around in a robe and perhaps go see some sights.

Amazed by this place. I booked the superior room which was quite expensive for my boyfriend's birthday. It totally lived up to my expectation! The room was nice, had a toilet and a very pretty bath tub on the room. Also had a minibar you could buy stuff from and complementary mochi from Hakone. The staff was really friendly as well. The best thing was the meals, dinner was top notch, everything, despite it maybe looking a little bit weird, was overly delicious. The only thing was that I ordered vegetarian with fish and they forgot and just served me the vegetarian meal (which was still delicious, but looking at what my boyfriend was served, the non-vegetarian option looked much better). The veggie breakfast was also good but could be better, maybe include an omelette (again the non veggie one was more complete). My room also included the most premium private onsen for 45 mins which was great and overlooked a bamboo forest. I didn't go to the public one.

Ryokan quiet and with onsen itself. The staff is very friendly. There are restaurants nearby and a Lawson, for if quierrs pillar alho near. Bathing in the onsen while you watch the sun, listening to the birds sing, has no price.

Really close to the nearest bus stop. Serves great meals with a lot of traditional variety. Private onsens are paid.

I had a great experience here. I booked a japanese style room with Kaiseki dinner and breakfast. The room was clean and enough space for 3 adults (1 Male and 2 Females). Both Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were served substantial dishes. They were exquisite at all, especially the crab soup and Tempura (fried shrimp and mushroom), really unforgettable.

Cash only hotel! Our price included dinner and breakfast. Both meals were very filling. Traditional Japanese style public baths and hot springs available for cleansing (no personal bath/shower). Transportation was good as there was bus stop right in front of the hotel. The receptionist team spoke multiple languages (Chinese Japanese English at least).

They have an excellent customer service and unbelievable dinner and breakfast which are inclusive. Location is convenient with public bus drop off zone right in front of the hotel. And there's a convenient store, Lawson, down the street. What more can you ask for!
