Accomodation The best accomodation Tour ever in my holiday! Mr Nagashima gave an extremely detailed cottage tour to me. Cottage is extremely clean, cozy with heater. There are microwave, vending machine, washing machine (free to use). Cottage is well equipped; shiseido brand shampoo, hair conditioner and body wash. They change towels daily and simple housekeeping too. Stars are visible but one downside is — it gets extremely cold outside the cottage after 8pm with gusting wind and the whole are does not have lights at night. Only individual cottages are lighted. Peaceful environment during daytime. Nice view of the mountain too. Food Breakfast and Dinner can be packed. Just inform Mr Nagashima. He will explain to you more. There are instant noodles and some vending food available for purchase. Nearest supermarket is a about 15 mins walk from Cottage and it has only the basic items. Dining Out The host have a list of his favourite resturants and you actually can have coupons/discounts at the back of the instruction manual. There is also a resturant named, 散歩亭, located at Anbo, beside a river. You can actually reserve seats and they will pick you up and bring you back after your meal. Talk to Mr Nagashima for more info. Others Due to the gusting wind, you will often hear light 'knocks' on the walls and you will think someone is outside or ghosts but its actually not. Slight cricket sounds can be heard at night. Wifi signal varies depending on where you stay.
I only spent one night at this place, but I regret not staying there for longer. We took the bus driectly from the Miyanouri port, and it was an easy stroll from the bus stop to Cottage Morinokoage. The host was incredibly friendly, spoke good English and was more than willing to help us if needed. If you wanted you could ask them to prepare breakfast a for you in the morning, but we never tried it. I shared the cottage with another person, and it was definitely big enough for two. Hoping that I one day will return to yakushima, I'll definitely make sure to have a longer visit at this lovely place.

The owner speaks English, and is extremely helpful. There is an on-site washer and dryer; the washer is free, but the dryer costs 300Y for an hour. It's a little on the weak side, so I recommend doing your laundry well ahead of time and letting it air out in the room. The cottage is about a 5 minute walk from the Funayuki bus stop.
