My fiancé and I decided to spend 3 days relaxing in this Castle, but our experience was not the best. That's why:
Breakfast is not up to a 5-star hotel, the Spa is messy and moreover for a fee (€ 40 per person) and in the outdoor pools the water is freezing.
Inside our room at the entrance to the bathroom there was a dangerous step very high and uncomfortable, we stumbled several times.
At the time of check out we were returned the car COMPLETELY CRAWLED on both sides and when we asked for explanations,
the reception staff was not very helpful, now we will have to move through legal channels.
The only positive note, is the very suggestive location and the barman Tiziano, kind, definitely competent and passionate (wasted for this place).

The ideal resort where you can relax and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the Sienese countryside. Attentive service, great food, very nice rooms! Excellent starting point for excursions in the nearby Siena and surroundings.

High-level location where the gastronomic path is an unforgettable experience. Wine cellar very important wines.

Thank you for this experience immersed in the time of the ancient monasteries with contemporary pampering and comfort. Good!

Fantastic place set in a medieval village. I would say excellent on every aspect, highly recommended.

Beautiful location. Centrally located to many of the charming small towns and excellent wineries in Tuscany. The suites and building itself are just gorgeous.

A beautiful, serene and very special place with lovely staff.

Very poor customer service. No one greeted us when we drove up to check-in. My husband sat in the outdoor patio/bar area and after 10 minutes had to get up to actually find someone to serve him. Then for dinner, we stood at the reservation desk for 5 minutes without even being noticed. When we were finally noticed we were asked we would if we wanted to be seated now we could all be seated together? Or it would be another 5 minutes or so to get the tables ready.
I would not come back here again!
It felt like they were very understaffed.

Wonderful time @ Monastero, loved the establishment, location is fairly remote, staff a mixed bag, restaurants provide a great array of options… not so great $25EURO service fee on each room service delivery.

Exceptional: we went with high expectations having read and seen a fair bit about the retreat, and these guys exceeded them in every single way. From the personal, friendly and informative welcome service to the large, spacious, beautifully-decorated rooms, the awesome restaurant (Cantina) service and Michelin-star food quality, to the beautiful pools and generous breakfast served outside in the courtyard, everything was amazing. I cannot recommend the place highly enough. We will undoubtedly return (but for more than one night next time! ) ❤️ Castel Monastero!

This may be the most beautiful place I've ever been.

Location stupenda, curata in ogni dettaglio. Staff professionale e molto preparato. Bar eccezionale per un aperitivo nel ristorante che serve piatti toscani preparati da manuale, accompagnati da vini eccellenti. La spa è molto bella e ottima per rilassarsi completamente. Consigliato per una notte, massimo due, per ritrovare la pace e staccare completamente la spina.

Not recommended at all! The hotel is beautiful but the price is very high without justification. Only the breakfast is good but nothing else is included in the overpriced price, for example, the spa costs extra money.

Castel Monastero. The location and amazing from those who come to pick up the car at the reception are all kind welcoming… instead on the SPA I would recommend some improvements because it is not acceptable at a resort of this level have a Spa so neglected you have to review the Humidity for both the walls wet the floors full of rags for fear that no one slips have a fortune and a place so wonderful and do not use in any way the outdoor pools even in winter lack relaxation areas with rocking loungers with relaxing music In the locker room they send benches to lean.

When you leave reality and find yourself in a fairy tale where time slows down its run and you are the real protagonist. I thank all the staff starting from the manager who knows his guests and converses with them and this makes you feel the warmth and the real hospitality. Here is the real luxury … that doesn't put you in trouble but at ease with simplicity and courtesy.

Loved the hotel. We had the privilege of staying in the little villa on the hotels premises, wonderful decoration and great food by Gordon Ramsey. The kids loved the huge pool and during summer there was a kids club with a very sweet lady entertaining the children. Absolutely worth staying. Also recommended by.

A beautiful and relaxing castle resort. The staffs are very nice. Please be aware that most of the GPS on your vehicle cannot give you the correct location. We wasted 1.5 hours to find the place. The staffs also confirmed that Google map is the only reliable GPS to find their castle. Please be careful!

Terrible first class hotel. Setting was nice and employee was courteous but the manager was never reachable and never apologized for the disturbance created by the loud band until midnight. Avoid this hotel!

We were staying in Siena and advised by friends to visit Castel Monastero. We booked for lunch at La Cantina and had a drink by the pool before lunch. The young barman was polite and friendly and could not be more helpful.
Our meal was superb, the atmosphere and setting beautiful and staff were excellent with a great sense of humour.
I would highly recommend this venue.

Amazing and peaceful Tuscan castle/resort. 30 minutes maybe less outside of Siena. Perfect place for your Tuscan experience.

The best definition, nothing left to chance all the details are studied and coordinated. A great job of management and staff.

The attention to details clearly makes a statement about the luxury vocation of the place. Starting with the central piazza of the main fortress, I am followed by a star engraved all around, from the coffee cup to the metal plates signalizing the different buildings of the hotel and named ”contradas” as the districts of Siena city, found 20 minutes away. The star, today the graphic identity of Castel Monastero, is inspired from the heraldry of the Chigi Saracini, a well-respected family from Siena who owned the property for many centuries and transformed it into their country house for hunting and for making wines. The same perfect balance, between local tradition and five stars excellence, is felt in all the 70 rooms and apartments spread across the property who actually represents and entire village. The unique atmosphere comes from the mix of vintage furniture and the perfectly harmonized bathrooms smelling like ginger and lime. Everything keeps its original medieval shape but looks new and fresh.

The place is beautiful, the pools are amazing but they open kinda late (10am) and close too early (7pm). The rooms are amazing, the bed was very comfy and the bathtub/bathroom really nice.

What a find! Was in Siena and decided to do a day trip. Had a hard time finding massages in the area and I found this place because of a CNN article which labeled it one of the top 10 in Europe. 80 euro without a spa service to access pool and spa. My deep tissue was 140 euro and we got to use the spa at no charge. Took about 40 euro taxi ride to get here. Give time to get one back because they don't linger at the hotel. They said they are busy on weekends and holidays. We had the place to ourselves for three hours. So worth a little getaway trip. Would definitely stay at the hotel next time.

This. Place is beautiful. Driving distance to many other wineries within 30 minutes. It is a bit pricey but you cannot put a price on memories and good laughs and eats. We stayed in the older part of the monastery where the nunns used to stay and the rooms were ejaculate and inviting. Ask for Nick in the restuatant, he was out Google Info on wine and places to visit.

I attended the wedding dinner of August 8, 2015 and it was a really nice experience.
Beautiful natural scenery, but definitely nice structure and restructuring. Impeccable service, the availability and kindness of all operators, put really outstanding, and the chef in the Cardinal who proved that you can be chic by eating things yummy and satiating without resorting to nouvelle cuisine. Congratulations to all.

Best hotel ever. The staff is always going above and beyond. Food is awesome. Gordon restaurant was closed but Cantina is 5 stars.

Spectacular setting and view of the terrace in the village. Dissappointing cuisine, overrated. Lousy service and ridiculous expensive.

This hotel pales in comparison to the Cocumella in Sorrento and the Westin in Rome. I was really looking forward to staying here and experiencing the renowned chef and amenities, but I am sorely disappointed. The chef is only here occasionally, so you are forced to eat at the Cantina. The food was mediocre at best. I ordered the pigeon and guinea hen fowl with pasta, and what I received was pigeon noodle casserole, minus the peas. The spaghetti with clams was full of broken shells. The service in the Cantina is fair. The breakfasts, however, are excellent, as is the breakfast wait staff. As far as the rooms, they were nice, but not spectacular. They are, however, immaculate.
