We have stayed at Villa Almoezia for 2 nights at the end of our Sicily trip. Owner Sebastiano and his wife were very kind in welcoming us to the villa and showing us around the area and terrain.
We consider the Taormina area slightly more expensive then more southern area’s of Sicily’s east-coast and believe that this Villa has a decent price/quality ratio that makes it a good decision for this time of year (May 2024).
From the Villa you can go down a beautiful but long set of stairs (540+) to arrive at the top of Taormina. We really enjoyed doing this twice as it is an easy non steep staircase with a beautiful view on the Taormina bay area. To return to the villa, you can either go by buss or take a taxi/uber.
The rooms and general layout are very traditional and classic. If you are into modern facilities or rooms, you should book elsewhere. But in the basis the room had a comfortable bed, air-conditioning and a nice view on the Lettojani beach area and the idyllic Castelmola.
If you book here, consider that there is only one lunch restaurant with a limited lunch menu in the direct vicinity of the villa. Also consider bringing your own water, drinks, snacks etc. Before arriving – as there are limited options to purchase this on the location. We recommend bringing some cash in advance as you need to pay the tourist tax and breakfast in cash.

This villa was a fun stay. Don’t expect 4-5 star comfort but Sebastiano makes up for it in every other way. Room was comfy enough, fridge cold. Beer and wine available to buy at very reasonable prices. Location was excellent at the top of the stairs at Madonna Roca (and half way up to Castelmola). Bus stop right outside for trips to town, up to Catelmola or to train station… and some nice restaurants nearby if you don’t want to go down to the town to eat. The view was sublime. We didn’t use the pool — it looks great in the photos but a little less exciting on viewing. Overall, we’d highly recommend a stay at Villa Almoezia.

I am very conflicted about this lodging, but I am compelled to review so people have something current. Honestly, I wouldn't stay again but I absolutely see the charm. The host is a lovely, warm person. The property has a wonderful garden. We came when the weather was terrible, with a thick fog bank, but we got a glimpse of a view when we arrived and I am sure it is spectacular when the sun is out. You are literally at the top of the mountain.
Be prepared for some challenging driving and parking by US standards, and lots of junk outside the b&b, including broken glass and an old car. It is misleading, since the place is much more charming once you enter. You enter at the top of the property, near the innkeeper's home, and the rooms are terraced below. Rooms are clean and basic. Nothing fancy, but some interesting antiques and details. There are five rooms, and we had one with a nice Juliette balcony and a little garden outside.
We aren't early risers and had breakfast as late as we could. We were the only people at breakfast at 10 am. There is a menu to choose from and you will not be confronted with a crazy buffet. We appreciated that. Eggs were cooked for us to order. Coffee was good. Lots of kittens and cats around, which we liked. There is a good restaurant just up the hill for dinner.
