Excellent location, friendly staff. Room was basic but reasonably comfortable. Amazing building but in need of some work.

This is a great hotel with great staff. We read a few negative reviews before we checked in and were a little worried; but we are so glad that we ignored those. This is a hotel with high value/cost ratio. It is in a beautiful old building (learned from the owner that it is 200+ years old). Sure, it is not Hilton or Sheraton, but in those hotels you do not get personal, heart warming service from the owner, you do not get to observe how the locals run their business, you would pay double or triple the price for softer mattress that is actually not good for your back. When we travel, we bring joy to experience something different, something unique, something true and beautiful. That's what the Palazzo Giaraca is to us. We love its prime location on the island, we love the typical Sicilian breakfast, our hearts are also in peace to know our car is safely parked. Overall, Ortigia is special and Palazzo Giaraca made it even more special. We definitely recommend it to anyone who are a true world traveler.

Great hotel with great character! The rooms are clean and well kept, and the employees are happy to help you. The hotel is also placed perfectly, giving travelers multiple opportunities to get to know Syracuse personally through exploring the city's many populated alleyways and squares laden with local restaurants and shops.

Friendly staff, acceptable rooms, medium/great kitchen though with humble portions.
Pleasant experience and for smokers, a touch of class, you can smoke in the lobby because there is a suction hood on the ceiling.

Very good building. It's too bad you lack maintenance. The room was stuffed with furniture that did not serve anything (as to put something) the insufferable bed, my son had a windowless room and with a terrible smell of humidity, we went to another hotel really a shame, because the building was worth it to be Exploited as a good hotel.

Don't be fooled by the pictures of the lobby like we were, this place is awful. The first room we looked at didn't have a window except for a skylight, it felt like a prison. We complained about the lack of a window and were moved to a very tatty room overlooking the car park. The bed was like an old camping bed with a spring hammock base and a thin mattress. The shower was broken and generally filthy. The toilet and dibet weren't fixed to the floor. All parts of the room were generally scruffy and not as clean as you'd expect for a hotel room. There is also a noise, like a generator, that I think comes from a fridge in the downstairs dinning room or kitchen, the noise echos through the lobby and I'm guessing it bothered previous guests because the fridge in the room was unplugged. Have a look at the pictures.

The hotel is situated in a ideal location very close to the sea and the main attraction of Ortygia. Thankfully it has some parking spaces which you can use for 10 euros per night. The staff were all very helpful but the housekeeping was very poor. Our first room had no refrigerator, one wardrobe door was hanging off, the TV didn't work, one bedside lamp didn't work, the shower head just hung loose and wouldn't stay in a fixed position, the toilet seat was wobbly and the plug in the bidet didn't work and the bed was way too hard and uncomfortable! The staff were very friendly and helpful and did find a fridge for the room within 15 mins and glued the wardrobe door whilst we were out but this should have been done before we were given the room and not when we complained! After 2 nights we could stand it no longer and changed room — it seemed that the manager knew room 1 was a rogue room as he offered us a replacement with no hesitation. The second room was much larger with a number of balconies onto the street. However the shower had no attachment to the wall, the bathroom had no external window and smelled of drains and the bed was only slightly less uncomfortable. We also felt that the hygiene could have been a lot better as the breakfast items were just left uncovered with flies walking over the food which was incredibly off-putting.

Great hotel, amazing location in the heart of Artiga island in Siracusa, parking is a bit complicated but easy to walk to the public parking three blocks away.

Something really wonderful… from breakfast to dinner… The staff is a unique courtesy to visit definitely.

An amazing home. A magical and mythical place. Joseph and his team are pure wonders. We were 55 and they were more than smiling.

Positive experience in this very nice period building with an entrance full of light. Still needs adjustments. Good cleanliness of room, air conditioning to review, although for our luck were not cold days! Good breakfast served in the large room on the ground floor. Excellent location of the property right on the sea of Ortigia, both to experience the beautiful island and to reach the other attractions of Syracuse (archaeological area), large room, very nice and present all the staff, good organization of Desk. There is also a lift and parking if small if needed (for a fee).
We will definitely return and recommend it! See you soon.

Ancient palace in the center of Ortigia. Great everything, especially the staff are attentive, polite and courteous. Definitely worth a visit. Good.

We liked the location and the friendly staff. Breakfast was simple but nice. I would recommend it.
