Very nice family hotel, staff is friendly en helpfull, we stayed there during our vacation for the last 4 years en we're going back again this year, I guess we fall in love with Italy, Stresa and the team of hotel Royal.

The decor and rooms are really good and staff very friendly. Unfortunately the Ayers and Bakers had a very bad experience in the dining room last night. When we arrived at 8pm most of the menu choices were off, we were given alternatives but all the food was inedible. We will pay for wine, but will not pay for the dinner. I have spoken to several people to complain, but as yet nothing has happened. Watch this space. The issue has been resolved and all is back to normal. As I stated already the staff have been excellent, it was just a bad evening in the kitchens with overbooking. Another great day on the lakes.

Small pool area with limited lying area.

This older hotel in Stresa provided a pleasant stay during a trip to visit the islands on lake Maggiore. The hotel is located a few minutes walking away from the ferry terminal, very practical! The reasonably priced room was on average good; small but clean, one negative were the beds (2 single beds forming a double) that too easily moved away from eachother creating an uncomfortable gap. The continental breakfast was good and the staff very friendly!

Very nice podictioned well… A nice garden, swimming pool. Deck chairs. And great service, cleanliness and welcome, the bartender with great aperitifs dinner at the top of elegance. I made the stay here for the first time and took my parents to Aunt I are thrilled… Room and service… And said by them that they are elderly and habitual… And say a lot… What about going back with friends…

Guest for a wedding at Villa Frua, on 6/30/2018. What to say, I stayed overnight in a single-use double with balcony that gave on the fantastic pool equipped with hot tub. I found the room suitable for the standard of exposed service, very cute the setting of the balcony and clean bathroom with a beautiful shower box equipped with double jet (fixed from above and free docile at about bust height). Price respecting the standard proposed in the area, multi-ethnic breakfast (appreciated). As for the restaurant I did not have the time nor the stomach (as a veteran of a heavy wedding of food the hours before the overnight stay) to try. Finally a note of merit to the reception and the waitress who served me breakfast for professionalism and courtesy.

Friendly staff, rooms were ready with some delay but the facility is very welcoming. Old style classic hotel. Comfortable bed, pillows could be better. Very quiet and perfect location. Overall, a pleasant stay!

Had a wonderful stay at this hotel which is about 250 yards from Lake Maggiore. Sone bedrooms overlook part of the lake and mountains and others overlook the well kept gardens. The hotel staff are very friendly and speak English. The food was excellent and the service very good. The hotel was adorned with some beautiful paintings which have been painted by the owner of the hotel. The lounges and bar areas were comfortable and pleasing. The bedroom was spacious and the bathroom too a good size. There was plenty of wardrobe space, television, safe but no tea making facilities. Our balcony had a table and two chairs which looked out onto the lake and overlooked the swimming pool. The hotel was in easy reach of the ferry which commutes between Stresa and the islands on the lake. Beautiful area with numerous points of interest. Well worth a visit!

Ideal starting point for visiting the islands of Lake Maggiore. Kindness, helpfulness and courtesy. Celebrating the diamond wedding of our parents bringing home a beautiful memory almost like the wonderful roses in the garden. Much appreciated the bread for celiacs. Only small note the lack of a bottilietta water in the room. We'il definitely be back.

The worst hotel of my life. Arrived it presents a majestic building full of flowers, and impressive. We are welcomed by a young receptionist that it also explains what and how to visit the place. The room at first glance is very beautiful, but at a second glance you notice any obvious deficiencies. As you will see in the photos that I attach below part of the shutter broken. Drops and salt completely. Passing out on the bedside table, pulling out the blanket in the closet comes out a lump of dirt and hair. The bathroom is very nice and clean. The TV was tiny and mini-bar empty. After dinner we go to sleep indeed, we have been awake all night. You felt everything he did near the end of the room. When they used the bathroom you could hear everything and when they pulled the flush down water from our water. The roller shutter which is lowered, and then the light pointed in the face and an annoying noise coming from the air duct. Advised the front desk they tell me that they will make a report but nothing can be done. Total 123 euros asked insistently in advance now I understand why.

Hotel Comodo, very close to the embarks for the islands and the cableway for Mottarone. Nice and helpful staff Great.

Hotel Royal was close to the cablecar, and you also take a ferry from the same location. It's 10mins downhill walk to the cablecar/dock. Getting to the hotel from the train station can be challenging if you have big luggages, although it's just a straight road (no foot path). Breakfast spread is decent, standard for italian hotels. Not worth paying for a balcony, unless you're getting the direct veiw of the lake (ours wasn't). 4 stars because bar staff werent too happy/helpful when we asked for hot water.

Nicely located. Amazing view from room. Basic facilities in room, coffee and tea was missing. Very friendly and helpful staff. Old styled hotel. 4 stars for staff and view from terrace.

On Easter Monday my husband and I made Stresa the destination of our short holiday and the Hotel Royal was the perfect choice. The staff is very kind. The hotel, clean and well cared for, has a beautiful panoramic terrace. The location is unparalleled: a stone's throw from the taxistation for the Mottarone, from the embarkation to the Borromean Islands and the beautiful promenade that leads to the centre of Stresa. The room, assigned as standard, had a view of the lake and a new bathroom with a shower with chromotherapy. The good breakfast, with the sweet and salty buffet, is served in the garden-terrace and this makes everything nicer and more elegant. So I recommend this hotel because it offers the sprint just to start the day discovering one of the corners of paradise of our beautiful Italy!

A fabulous hotel, staff, facilities and food! The situation of it is great — a lovely walk into centre of Stresa but right by a ferry port and the cable car to Mottarone. Comfy beds, lovely pool, loads of lounge areas to sit around and relax. Meals excellent. To see the family mixing with holiday makers is great. I would highly recommend going to the Royal and hope to go back someday.

A good hotel, very good location, near the bots to the ilands and cable car to motorona mauntain (3 minutes walking) and exlent air-conditioned that was important because in july 30 degrees. The breakfest without vegtables at all and no crambeld aggs. No curtains at the bathroom. A good strong mattress. A nice outdoor pool. I recomanded this hotel.

Great hotel! Fantastic service and food with good and quick cleaning service! Pool is good but beware the Mosquitos later in the day, great transport links, very high class, great air con and comfy beds! Family of four with two rooms next to us on request. Breakfast okay — lack of soya options and mosquitos by pool take it down a star. *Pro tip — you can ask for different types of coffee and tea at breakfast and order dinner at breakfast for quick service! Highly recommended would recommend. — Oh and don't miss the roof top view, it's amazing!

The Hotel Royal is filled with old world charm. The staff is friendly, helpful and very professional. The location is a short five minute walk to Lake Maggiore and the lifts that take you to the top of the mountain. The hotel is very clean and filled with lovely paintings and Victorian decorations. Highest marks and gratitude for a fabulous stay.

A gorgeous hotel with spectaclar views of the Borromeo islands. The restaurant here serves delicious food. But every single one of these stars is for the outstanding service here.

Quality with a touch of yesteryear.
In an environment that spans the range from then until today, you will be treated as a guest. From the first moment we felt comfortable. Help with the luggage, Declaration of the plant, unagitated, superior experience which was then still getopt at dinner by a team of waiters with style. The food was good and especially freshly prepared, beautifully draped on the plate and Yes, because even the small gestures not lacked, which is just the dish with the hotel logo with the small additional movement, the wine with the label to the guest placed and much more.
The seating at dinner would be improvement in my view. These are garden furniture and I have not come with the inclination and height. May also be that this is due to my limited mobility — also a table change in the 'old' restaurant area had brought remedy. I'm sure I talked to the problem a solution would have been found.
Visit the roof terrace. It offers spectacular views of the sea and the Islands.
I would might not necessarily recommend at any time without limitation, hotel to families with small children.
