Nice and friendly and the staff is very nice the proximity to the railway is not a problem because the passage of the train does not feel, indeed the station at 3 minutes walk is very convenient for those who have to move to the Ligurian coast.

Good prices, even taking into account l'high quality of the ingredients used in a cuisine halfway between tradition in liguria and campania, who is from this mix of creativity and haute cuisine. Great service, presentation of the dishes, inviting without falling in the'excessive. Welcoming environment and background music which helps to relax. To conclude, I suggest that you leave space for the desserts. The dishes vary with the season and availability of fresh ingredients. A must try if you are in Sestri Levante.

Good location for visiting the 5 Terre cities and as a matter if fact the rest of the coast between Portofino and Portovenere. Cosy hotel with great kitchen. Lovely hosts, helpful with tips.

A great dinner, with special dishes made delicate in the taste that makes you appreciate the excellent raw materials. A pairing of wine very appropriate to the work of the master of the house, and a really sweet not to be missed!

I was reviewing an email newsletter about Italy and, for some reason, decided to Google Locanda Del Borgo to "reminisce". After reading these reviews, I felt obligated to post my own. My wife and I stayed there in the Spring of 2010. We had saved up Amex points for many years in preparation of our first trip to Europe. As I recall, the reason we stayed here was because they were the only place near Cinque Terra we could book with points. We took the train from Milan to Sestri, then took a bus to the hotel. That part was a little tricky, but it worked out fine thanks to a helpful bus driver. (we would later learn we could have taken the regionale train from Sestri to the station within walking distance of the Inn) The hotel was wonderful. The room and bathroom were huge (especially by European Standards). Everything was very clean. The breakfasts were great (love how they make your coffee based on your nationality unless you request otherwise). The hosts/owners could not have been more helpful. They explained how to get to the train station (yes, it's a little walk, but if you're coming to see Cinque Terra, you better be ready to walk :) ). They explained how the Trenitalia ticket machines are usually broken and how to explain that to the conductor (should you see one). They gave us some tips on hiking Cinque Terra. Then, on our last day, they wrote out the train instructions to help us get to Florence.

We had a weekend with groupon and the service was really excellent, staff extremely helpful in recommending places, things to see and do, but also good food at the restaurant. Generous and varied breakfast.
The room was very nicely decorated, the bathroom really spacious.
We will definitely be returning.

It always says that in Liguria are not very hospitable. We found this delightful Inn by accident, and we had a weekend as we were attending a wedding in San Francisco. Our room was very spacious, with channels and free internet. Breakfast with fresh pastries. The couple who run it always available to recommend tours and restaurants in the area. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return, because from next year, the owner told us that there will be a sauna and Jacuzzi available to guests.

We did not manage to find the time to write a review but have been meaning to for the last 6 months, having seen the latest review we now feel the need to defend this hotel. This is small and very family run but this simply adds to the appeal. The management (Marcello and Barbara) really make this hotel and are so helpful and friendly, but not in an overbearing way. As mentioned below we were welcomed with a drink on arrival and given lots of infomation relavent to our stay. Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble and they would go out of their way to answer any of our questions. They seemed to genuinely enjoy making sure we were satisfied and ensuring we were having a great time in the Cinque Terre region. We didn't eat in the restaurant (as we preferred to explore in the evenings) but were told by other guests that we had missed out. If the breakfasts were anything to go by then we're sure they were right. Located in the small village of Trigoso we found the location no problem despite not having a car. The trains are convenient and the station only a less than 10 minute walk away (albeit up a hill). There are also buses too. The rooms were well decorated and clean and we feel it particularly harsh to give a hotel a "poor rating" when you haven't even given them a chance. I'm sure any problems could have been resolved given the opportunity. We stayed for a week and loved both the hotel and the region.

This hotel was not what we expected at all. It is not close to the Sestri Levante train station, in fact the hotel is not in Sestri proper but rather closer to Riva, about a four minute trip by train from Sestri. The hotel has other problems such as a long walk to food (20 — 30 minutes) and many many rules, among which are no hand washing or eating anything in the room. The weather was rainy and the room was cold and we were told to warm up with a blanket. The breakfast was nice and the couple attempted to make amends for a difficult relationship, but overall, it was disappointing.

We made our booking through the internet as we had done for our other accommodation whilst we were in Italy. This is the only place we were disappointed in. It was also the most costly and so we were expecting a very nice room. Our arrival (after we had finally found the place; the address does not come up on the GPS as it is not in Sestri Levante but in Trigoso, quite a distance from Sestri Levante center. ) appeared to be an inconvenience to the young lady who finally greeted us after finishing a private phone call. The room we were shown to was nothing like the descriptions we had read. It was quite sparse and the netting woven through the iron bed head and foot was grey with dust. We had booked for 4 days and so having a fridge in the room was important but we found a sign on the fridge telling us not to put food in it. When asked where we could have a meal that night the young lady was unable to help us (it was too far to walk to any restaurant if one could be found). Locanda Del Borgo advertises that they have a restaurant but this was not suggested. The train station was conveniently close but it was not manned on the day we arrived and the ticket machine had been vandalized and was unusable. After much consideration we decided not to stay. Following an email of complaint sent to Locanda Del Borgo we have received no response.

My wife, my 16 years old daughter, and I had a very bad experience at this Locanda. We had a reservation for a 200 euros room (completely overprized, ) we arrived at 10:25 p. M. And nobody was there. We called, and a lady rudely told us that the Locanda closed at 10:00 p. M. (on a Saturday night in July.! ) and she couldn't help us anymore. We called back, and talked to the owner. This time he told us that the Locanda closed at 9:00 p. M. And that, in spite of our reservation with a Credit Card, he could not let us into our room! We were left stranded on a country road, a few miles from Sestri Levante, and on a Saturday night in July it was just impossible to find another accomodation. About an hour later we finally found a cab, went to the train station, and got on a train to Genova where we arrived at 2:00 a. M. What an awful experience! What an awful hotel! What an awful owner.
