Essential in Rome. Always crowded with tourists. It is worth it if you go by Metro get off at the Plaza del Popolo and from there walk to the area of the stairways. If you like ice cream on this street you have good choices.

The Staircase is impressive. Because of the lack of Shade during the day little besieged by Visitors. For this, all the Shade places are completely overcrowded. When you are in Rome, you should definitely visit the Spanish Steps, as it is simply part of the Overall Picture.
However, there are nicer and more overwhelming Staircases in other Parts of Europe as well.

Super beautiful Meeting Place in Rome. Officially, you're not allowed to sit and eat anything on the Stairs, but it's not seriously pursued. Only Downside: Maximum Rose Seller Density.

The most famous staircase in the world. The famous Roman staircase and the most visited of the city was built between 1723 and 1726. It is located between the church of Trinità dei Monti and the Spanish Steps. Here many tourists take advantage of meeting there with friends, taking a break or doing pic-NIC.

Great addition to any trip to Rome! We really enjoyed lounging on the steps in the morning with pastries and cappuccinos from down the street. Definitely would recommend going earlier to avoid the crowds since it’s such a big tourist spot. Near to luxury shopping areas too!

We were pretty underwhelmed after seeing other sites around Rome and walking countless other steps. I'm sure it could be better if it wasn't super crowded with tourists and cigarette butts everywhere. Not to mention the guys trying to push roses on me every few feet… Good pics from the top and a nice church to relax in out of the sun.

It is a very beautiful square that is not to be missed, it has muuuchas stairs that is worth going up to contemplate the panorama of Rome from above, and if Callejeas a bit by the park that is next to it, the panoramic is even wider.
If you are in the square in very hot hours and you are not very fit, go up the stairs with tranquility, to avoid that we choke the experience.

Here, too, it turns out that Rome is a great City, but the Roman Population is partly suboptimal tradable.

Like the name says it's steps but really marvellous. The scenery is amazing once you reach the top. A favourite picture spot for tourists so you will see a lot of selfie enthusiasts and picture postures here. I had to wait a bit to find a clear spot but it was good wait. There are normally lots of flowers on the step and it makes it more beautiful on good summer day. Lots of good shopping and eating places nearby so must visit place for any tourist.

Approx. 2 years ago when I was there the biggest part were under construction, so I decided to go again! It was definitely worth to go there! These Stairs are very impressive, even it was full with tourists sitting there! When you climb it up you can feel how many feet used it in the past and now! From the top you have a great view over the city of Rome! It's definitely one of the sights you must see when you are in Rome!

A good place to chill out for a bit and people watch. Definitely worth a visit if you have time at least. There are some expensive shopping streets nearby if that's what you're into. Remember you're not allowed to eat on the steps… hefty fines if you do! Also there seem to be a lot of 'rose sellers' around these parts. Whilst we were there, there was another scam attempt where someone would shout 'SIGN AGAINST DRUGS'. They want you to sign their petition and then give them money… incredible how people fall for this and I seem a few actually pay them! I mean come on, the people scamming you and asking you to sign against drugs, actually look like they're using drugs themselves. Just be mindful and don't support these scams or the street sellers…

A huge number of selfies… It's the same trouble as the Trevi Fountain. But if you have the strength to climb (or the mind to come on the subway), then from above opens a beautiful view. Downstairs, only for fans to ceiling and take a picture of themselves beloved on the steps with hundreds of the same addycts. Very busy during the day, hardly any room to sit/climb during certain times of the day. Great Piazza, as you walk up to the top of the steps you will have occasional street vendors trying to sell items to you. You can politely refuse or always bargain to get roses and other items from them.

There was not much going on and a lot of police ♀ ️ on site. You felt very very safe.

Restored is of a shining white. The constant presence of policemen and police dissuades all those who would like to sit down, eat and whatnot. All the private houses that we overlooked have become Bed and breakfasts or restaurants, bars. Great depersonalization. If it is calculated that the hotel Hassler is closed it also makes sadness. Beautiful, clean and well kept monument. Great for sitting and eating some lunch, taking photos or just people watching. Usually very busy but worth the atmosphere. Right off of via del Corso, which makes it very convenient to get to.

The energy of the place resembles the time Square of New York: A lot of people spend time sitting on the steps, watching the sunsets and listening to street singers. Like everything in Rome, the architectural view of the square and the stairs is beautiful. From above there is a basilica, and from below-a fountain with Gandown. It was to burn the walking heroine Audrey Hepburn in the legendary film about the Roman holidays.

One of the most beautiful buildings I saw in Rome. "Spanish Steps" is not too far from Trevi Fountain. There are many steps to claim from the square to the building. There was a great statue on the shape of "Obelisk" in USA. Not that big. Much smaller. For Christmas and New Year there was a decorative thing. With stars. And a hashtag too. When I will be at Rome again I will make sure to visit this place again. Spanish square was a great place to sit at eat something you had with your self. Almost forgot. In the square was a incredible fountain too. With such a clean water. I recommend you to visit this place. One of the best in Rome.

A local reviewer said it best, it's just a bunch of steps. Nothing to see here, at all. If you want to go shopping on the Via dei Condotti by all means do so. Fabulous shopping. Look to the north east end of the Street. If you see some steps, you've seen the Spanish steps. No need to do any more or get any closer. Rome has SO many great attractions. This is not one to put on your list. Undoubtedly the retail trade had made it famous.

Wonderful structure! Loved the crowds! VERY BUSY but organized and seemed safe. Go at 6 am for selfies with no one around. Later for the crowds.

I do not think I exaggerate, saying that this staircase is unique in the world, and few or none, are so harmonious and well-made to satisfy the eye of the visitor, stimulating at the same time the feeling of beauty.

Plaza very nice. Ideal to make a break and take lunch under the sun.

The Spain's square (in Italian Piazza di Spagna) is one of the most famous squares of Rome. Seems to be a place of must visit in Rome, but with so much a visitor is not easy to enjoy it. It is a good idea to get to it from the villa Medici. You save up hundred and some stairs and you enjoy it from two different perspectives.

Bustling plaza with historic steps up to a Church in the heart of Rome. There is a mix of street food, restaurants, and shopping at the bottom. Great place to people watch and enjoy a night out. We started at the bottom and walked up — 137 steps. At the top there are views out over a portion of Rome.

An unforgettable stop! All the times I was in Rome I stopped in this beautiful place, near the main streets of shopping and walking. It's nice to sit and see the comings and take of people both in the square and on the staircase. Many tourists who like to stay in this square and on this staircase. Facing the balcony in front of Trinita dei Monti in the highest part of the staircase you can enjoy a beautiful panorama (illuminated street, spectacular private terraces). And we also witnessed a marriage proposal on the intermediate Terrace: really beautiful! Beautiful the white staircase and well kept!

Great view of the shopping plaza and church. The steps aren't hard to do at all. Must take pictures at the top and bottom. Great views from both perspectives. Watch out for people trying to hand you things they will ask for money from you. Like roses etc.

Something you do because you can't visit this city without doing it. They are just steps so don't expect anything over the top! Atmosphere is busy and very crowded. If all of the above aren't your cup of tea, the don't waste your time! If they are though, it's worth going to read about the history and enjoy the atmosphere.

The hangout place of all the tourists, like at the Trevi fountain a huge amount. You can sit on the stairs, take a photo, then go to a cafe to drink expensive coffee, eat cake, again photographed in the picture with Gogol, and go, aimlessly.

Very busy but a nice place to stop at and sit and have a gelato. Lots of high end shops around and then going a few metres out are more local shops where those who love in Rome would usually shop.

Very nice, but very crowded, even in October. Do not buy water, it is possible to gain up top.

Walk down from the Villa Medici to the top of the steps from where you can marvel at the sheer magnificents of a truly majestic set of steps. Meander to the bottom where you will find a delightful little fountain. A truly beautiful experience.

Very crowded, expected for a Sunday afternoon. Beautiful weather friendly environment. Get rid of the peddlers and easily 5 stars. Been to several other areas of Italy and they control the peddlers better. Here all over Rome they are too aggressive.

Absolutely beautiful with a great, energetic vibe around the whole area. Lots of restaurants in the surrounding streets, all of which are nice for walking around in the later evening. The steps themselves are very crowded with tons of tourists and guys trying to sell cheap souvenirs. As always, be careful of pick pockets.

Important! Water free flows to the left: climb the stairs in front of you Stella, go left, and there under a tree flows from the tap water. The square is beautiful, but very hot in August and many people. Stroll through the square and go upstairs. )
Next, walk to the Villa Medici, but there are expensive, don't go, go on. Villa Borghese — there definitely needs to be reached. Very nice! At the Villa Borghese not walk. I recommend to rent a electromachine for €12. They are hard to find, they are hidden in the beginning of the Park on the right. But the Villa is very large. There's no fun to walk. )

In the evening a crowd of people, some hipster Laban on gitarist, after each song the crowd applauds. Class…

There are to upload them, to have a great view of the Piazza of Spain. Always packed, and with people going up and down, but it's well worth the effort.

Excellent square and their stairs. It is a site that should be visited. Located in a privileged area by the fashion and good brands.

Amazing place! Great locality to stay while visiting Rome. Great vibe and most of the touristy places are close-by.

The Spanish Steps are under renovation at the moment (8th July 2016) so there's nothing much to see. If you're already here you could keep heading north to the Piazza del Popolo or south to the Trevi fountain.

I sat there amongst the young who were hanging out or playing on an instrument to people watch. I treasured every breath I took, sound I heard. Very cool place.

I was looking forward to seeing these as I'd seen pictures of them adorned with flowers so was a bit disappointed to see half of them inaccessible due to restoration work but it has to be done! We found them very difficult to locate though! We ended up walking up some steps at the side of the building at the top of the steps then we walked down them and got a photo at the bottom of them near the fountain.
