Un Posto Al Sole Hotel

No Wi-Fi although promised in our booking. The Wi-Fi code in the lobby is a hoax. No cooling available, even when it’s 30+ degrees outside. The room window can be opened but at night the lights from the neighbours makes you think you’re sleeping next to a football stadium. It lights up the entire room. Not a friendly welcome also. We were told we have to clean the dishes ourself. Not quite assuring of your eating from a plate which might not been cleaned well by a previous guest. This B&B is obvious a cashcow for the owners. The sheet of paper we found on the table was filled with disclaimers, all written in Italian. I’ve been to at least 30 B&Bs throughout the last 4 years and this was by far the one I felt least comfortable. If you’re looking for a B&B in Francavilla Al Mare, please look further.

Dreadful and humiliating experience: the room was boiling hot and even though the room description mentioned that there would be a fan and internet, both were absent. We gave it a try but were forced to look for another accommodation in the middle of the night as it was impossible to get some sleep. The next day we went back with the intention to settle this in a civil in way, but the female owner immediately became hostile and claimed that there was a fan in their own apartment and that we could have asked for it — putting the blame on us. We mentioned that it was the middle of the night and that we didn’t want to wake anyone up. Despite our efforts to look for a solution, the female owner continued screaming and offending us and kicked us out without settling the payment. After we left, the male owner (Andrea) chased us with the car and forced us to stop because he wanted to have the full payment. We tried to explain the issue and proposed to pay half of the price, but he did not care at all and only wanted the full amount (even though we did not even sleep there). When we refused he started to intimidate us by claiming that he would call the police and carabinieri stating that we had fled without paying, while in fact we were kicked out by his wife who was not willing to settle the payment issue in a civil manner. After a lot of pressure, stress and hostility, we decided to pay the full price as we feared retaliations and we wanted to continue our holiday peacefully.

A short walk from the beach, this bed and breakfast is delicious, from the vintage chic. It is newly built.
Located on the ground floor, also has private parking. Has only two rooms, each with private bath.
Francavilla al Mare has clean beaches and clear waters. The town is quiet (probably too much) but in any case it is well connected to Pescara, located a few km.
