When coming to Eilat we usually stay at Agamim hotel which we feel is best value for money but as both hotels were up for about same amount and Princess is labeled as a 5star hotel, we figured let's give it a try… What a mistake that was! When arriving at the hotel the calendar might say 2015 but at the hotel you feel like you're in 1985 as the hotel is old and everything is very bad maintained: in the rooms everywhere there are spots and cracks. The air conditioning can't be set to temperature, it's either on or off. The refrigerator is not really a refrigerator and when we called to complain about it, the clerk at front desk had only to say that it's not meant to cool, just to store… What an absurd comment is that?!? When we then asked to have ice in our room, the clerk said the bar is already closed and that we can buy an ice pack at the kiosk which by the way is 2 miles away! (5 star service isn't this? ) We ourselves went to the bar area we still managed to find someone at the bar who would provide us with some ice. We stayed at room 931 which faces the pool. The 4 days we were there, 2 days there was no water for a long while so you can imagine what discomfort that brings when wanting to use lavatory or take a shower. During the other 2 days there was a power shortage 3 times in a row which left us without A/C which is extremely annoying with temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius. The manager's response was to do a formal complaint to the power company.
It used to be one of the best hotels in Eilat — away from the crowds, great beach for snorkeling and scuba, pools and kid's club were also excellent. Unfortunately, due to some beaurucratic problem it has been closed until further notice.
