Hostel

I booked a friend to stay here last week and they refused entry because he was not an essential worker. They took the booking and payment for 1 weeks accommodation and then refused him entry. As if that was not enough they have now refused to refund me for the booking saying they are applying strict hotel cancellation policy. There was no mention of having to be a essential workers on the website. This company are a bunch of thieves and an absolute disgrace. Do not book & do not stay here.

Cheap affordable travel options for in and out trips.

A shit they put me in a piece full of drunks who didn't respect shit.

The rooms are fantastic, extremely spacious and in superb condition. Ideal for a night away with friends in Dublin. The bar and food make it the perfect place to start your night.

Different from most travelers, my friend and I decided to spend not a few days here but full 3 weeks and so far it's been amazing! The staff is friendly, the restaurant/pub has great energy and variety of snacks and drinks. The rooms are good (we chose the 6-bed female one) and it's ridiculously well-located where every pub and place are a few minutes walking from here. Rent bikes, go up the skyview, have an ice cream beside the hostel and visit the Jameson Distillery which is located literally behind the hostel…

I didn’t have a pleasant stay in this hostel. Way overpriced. I paid 500 euro’s for 3 nights for a 6 person dorm. The other guests were disrespectful ex having sex in a common room. Besides this is a party hostel not for people who want to sleep decent.

The staff at Generator was fantastic. They helped out with any questions I had the whole stay and made me really feel welcome in a new city. Special thanks to the bartenders and Diego, who was all around a great guy who can make a hell of a drink!

Staff are liars, clients are drunk and noisy and uncool. I weared a hoody one has opened my padlock to see what was inmy box. A nice band of judge and juries coupled with liars.

All around a great fun place to stay with a great location. They have rental bikes too. I will come back here. ❤️

Would not rate this hostel highly at all, for a hostel where prices should be cheaper, we were charged €120 per person sharing, secondly when we entered our room we were hit with a smell of URINE which we found out was coming from one of the mattresses. I asked the manger to have a look and he did but had to back up to him to ask if it was sorted or what was happening!
Also when we returned to the room that night there was also a duvet missing from one of the beds.

The decor and style of this hostel is EVERYTHING. So industrial! Wasn't expecting much from the food (no reason) but I was surely impressed! I just wish the brownie was warm because it took awhile to get. We were in a room of 6 for 6. A little tight but it was manageable. World Cup was going on and the atmosphere 24/7 was great. Thanks Generator.

Really neat and tidy rooms. Great management. Found the food and beverages to be slightly overpriced, especially compared to the supermarket that has a great variety of food and beverages right across the street. Rating 5 for the excellent security and service provided. Good arrangement for keeping your stuff, make sure you carry a lock if you're carrying any valuables.

What a great hostel! The best location, seriously. Walking distance of everything! The room was spacious and clean, reception was always helpful, and the bar/lounge was a great place to eat, drink, and hang out. Would highly recommend to others looking for a central Dublin hostel!

It's a really nice place. Very clean, good bar area with live music, friendly and helpful receptionists. The rooms are okay, could use some chairs, but that's about all negative to say about them. Very enjoyable stay.

Modern hostel with good facilities. Rooms are clean and well equipped. We stayed in one of the 6-person rooms. The beds were clean and comfortable. Underneath the bed you'll find lockable drawers to keep your personal belongings safe during the day. You do need to bring your own padlock, or you can buy one at the reception. There are free guided walking tours available from the hostel; and staying in the hostel will give you a discount on the Guinness Storehouse experience (an experience I wouldn't recommend by the way! ).

This place has budget hotel rooms and some are dorm rooms. So for a hostel it's hi end at budget price. Very clean, comfy. Great bar and social atmosphere. Ok location not great location. It's walkable to main sites.

Very high quality repair, pleasant service. At night there was a fire alarm-have worked for all 100. Turns out someone was messing.

I have travelled all around the world in hostels but this was one of the worst experiences I've had. Firstly the place looks cheap but you actually end up spending 3/4 times more than your average stay. There is no place to cook or store food which was the biggest let down of the place. There are cheaper alternatives in Dublin located nearer to centre of Dublin. Near my room there was an odour of dampness, complaints were made to staff by other guests which the staff tried their best. Staff at the bar were very nice. It's a nice place but would not be recommending it to anyone looking to stay more than 2 nights.

Great service. Clean, central and a good comfy bed. Loved the style of the place and the location was perfect for us to the gig we were heading to and for the hangover the next morning.

Very cool main floor and bar, and helpful staff. Private rooms and shower was fine, bathroom very clean. Beds themselves are thin foam dorm beds, so just prepare yourself for that. Breakfast is disappointing unfortunately.

Very nice hostel and very well located, the staff is friendly ideal for meeting and practicing his English. Finally prices are affordable.

Great hostel to sleep more nights in the center of Dublin. Simple and at the same time functional rooms. Excellent cleanliness and care of the building. Kindness and helpfulness by the reception staff. I hope to go back.

We were here as a group of about 15 people. The rooms were well maintained and for this (cheap) price really in good condition. Not in the direct center but nearby the location is also really good. Wi-Fi is also available here.

It is a modern hostel for the dudes get nervous but sharing room is not my thing… also not so cheap if you think you charge for everything… for breakfast about 7:50, to keep the luggage depends, for each towel €2… sum and more… At the end is not a classic hotel?

Great location, nice vibe, would definitely stay here again but I'd bring my own hairdryer. Stayed in a private room for 3 with an ensuite bathroom which did scald at times. Loads of events and staff are welcoming. It's also next door to the Jameson distillery, check the Generator's website for offers at Jameson, also found it best to book directly through Generator than any other website.

A super hostel. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was very good. The price is also right in the centre of the city. The interior is really cool and there are many offers such as free tours and live music events in the bar downstairs in the hostel.

Super big hostel with many international guests. Big Lounge area, good restaurant, nice staff. The rooms are a bit cold furnished. But very clean and modern. Big shower. Comfy beds. I guess it is the most expensive hostel in Dublin. But quite central and it is worth the money.

The room was very good. I see the problems outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It seemed like they were uncomfortable talking. Very cold and distant.
You have to pay for the breakfast and the price of the rooms is already in itself very expensive.
In the bar there are more locals than the hostel.

Clean room, polite welcome and ready to manage even people with difficulty with the language. Also, I don't know if it was the staff or some other hotel guest, after forgetting the phone on the table one evening I found it again the next morning in reception. In my opinion this is also an indication of a good structure and well-host. Recommended especially for weekends, or short vacations, to have fun in Dublin.

The location is good and the staff is very friendly. The star deduction is only available for the mattresses. Spring, sleep once and I had cross pain the rest of the day.
Otherwise the hostel is really top. Nice staff, a lot of facilities. Unfortunately we did not make it for breakfast.

It is a good place to sleep, there are places nearby to eat and the center is crossing the bridge.

Super clean hostel with large social area. Rooms are quiet despite the party which often goes on downstairs. Staff are lovely and hostel in a great location. Bathrooms were clean and bedding perfect for the colder weather.

While my friend and I only stayed here one night, it was a great night. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, and the hostel itself is just very unique and cool. Also it’s hard to beat that price, and the location is ideal.

I stayed here last week for two nights, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great food and drinks, you have to try the Irish breakfast. It was originally part of the Jameson distillery and has neat stone walls (on the other side of which is where the distillery still operates). It is next to a large open area with easy access to shops and dinning as well as bus and tram access including the Hop-on Hop-off tour.

Great standard of hostel. Very modern with a cage and bar on-site. Super friendly staff. Rooms were very hot though found it hard to sleep even with opening the window, not sure if someone just cranked the radiator way to high but that was the only downside.

Having stayed in the Generator Paris and loved it last year; I had high expectations for the Dublin location and was just utterly let down. While the main common areas are outstanding, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. Dirty sheets, clogged shower drains, mold in our room, mold in most of the rooms for the group we we're staying with here. The main complaint which is just mind boggling on how this couldn't be fixed sooner or addressed is the laundry situation. 2 washers, 2 dryers, 1 broken washer, 1 of the dryers burnt some of our friends clothes and the other just didn't dry at all. Also €7 just to do laundry. Overall, good for a quick stay, not so much for 3 or more.

Sleep but there better places more like the bathrooms are in different floors alde your Caurto almenso Q you touch the. 2 floor Igualtnedras Q walk through hallways and floors to access them Nonahinuna cafeteria or Sitiomapra q comas o. Prepare. Only a bar and its restaursnte is more designed. For Negocionq for hostel The beds are clean nomal staff a practice lmapar ay chargers on each bed but Lodel bath and the poor distribution of the beds in Lsoncuartos shared le. Subtraction Much besides the location is not Tanserca tourist but dublines small asiq that npes problem. You can walk it.

Excellent concierge service and beautiful common area, with bar, billiards and breakfast area.
The staff are very friendly and the structure is designed so as to be very safe: access to the structure and the upper floors is only allowed to customers through the cards provided.
The location allows you to arrive with 10 minutes of walk everywhere so the means become superfluous.
Two flaws:
1) I was cold, especially when I came out of the shower I saw the Penguins greet me
2) Hangers and shelves are missing. The jacket I had to throw it perpetually on the floor and in the bathroom I did not know where to put shampoo and toothbrush.

A nice hostel a little noisy but top.

Good equipment, unfortunately only mixed sleeping quarters, which are quite small and therefore a bit stuffy.

An AJ a little pricey on the single rooms but the establishment is well worth this effort. Not very far from the city center, but quiet. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.
At the reception, everything is implemented to make you useful and enjoyable.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Beware however: no kitchen available to prepare meals, it's a pity for a hostel! The rooms are OK.

Really liked this place. The hallways were too dark though. And all the curvy hallways are confusing at first. Paid 7 euros to do laundry. Only one washer was working and neither of the dryers were in good shape. One had heat but didn't spin, while the other would spin but had very low heat. Took about 3 hours to dry my clothes. Besides that, everything was great. Location is literally next door to the Jameson experience, an independent movie theater, and a nice grocery store with hot meals.

No let downs with this burger called beefeater! So freaking good! Also stayed at this hostel for a few days being in a larger room with 6people is still very comfortable and clean overall. I would definitely recommend coming back here.

Stayed here in April after our hotel fell through unexpectedly in Dublin. Had very low expectations before booking but was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. My boyfriend and I stayed in a coed bunk room with six bunk beds for an exact week. Was pretty small but had lockers under the bed for personal use. Although it was coed, I had all male roommates. Showers are better than I expected and provide generic soap/shampoo. The pub downstairs was the best part. Great music, great people and Great Guinness. Had a great burger too and made some pretty cool friends. Pros: super cheap, close to everything, and I felt completely safe the entire time. Cons: hmmm. Roommates can get in pretty late and pretty drunk so pack some ear plugs. Definitely worth it. Also don't pass up on those free walking tours.

Very nice hostel, rooms are clean and the beds are setup so you have some privacy. In my case I did have to go to reception to ask wether they could go to the room next to mine to quite down a group of French people who were having a small party in they're room. Security was there very quickly and the noise went down significantly. They have a bar with live music which has a nice informal vibe were you can pick out of different places to lounge.

It was my first stay in Dublin/Ireland. Was somewhat skeptical regarding a hostel. But I am very positively surprised. Clean, tidy, quite quiet. Considering how many people are marching through here. Very friendly and helpful staff and the reception is 24/7 busy. I'm very enthusiastic. Thank you for your great holiday. We will definitely come back.

Nice place, nice rooms Luckily we were very well also with the roommates. Too bad that there is not a wall for controlled smokers you have to go out on the street in front of the hostel to smoke and while the throws out, let's call it, not the nice area, you approached a girl asking me a cigarette and I without Problems I gave her a cigarette also asks me for her alleged friend and I no problems give her the second cigarette, the shocking thing is that this thanks and run away with my pack of cigarettes. And to add the icing on the cake the throws out, guard what the fuck it was next to me and seeing that I was a girl and I was in trouble both me and my friend were in shock did nothing! But here you are talking seriously or what!? Is it your job or not?! I wonder if I didn't give you cigarettes this thing would do! As nice as it may be the hostel in if I recommend you stay in Italy if you are Italian… it is in all respects I assure you. It could happen anywhere like that but the shocking thing is that if it had happened in Italy with a guard side or a security officer would do something! I assure you!

Nice big rooms, we had a 10 person room, most the of girls were quiet, one woke up super early and was loud and used the hairdryer. The place has a hip vibe, and had a guy play acoustic guitar, in the cafe on the first floor. Food and drinks were available for a reasonable price. I would reccomend.

Never having stayed in a hostel and having a preconceived idea of wooden floorboards and steel framed beds, I couldn’t have been more wrong. First impression was of a vibrant, buzzing venue. Clean, with a warm and friendly Irish welcome. Excellent facilities with good priced bar and cafe that serves a generous burger! Our ‘dorm’ was an 8-sleeper modern bunk room with en-suite including a superb shower! Very friendly helpful staff. If you’re in Dublin and need a short-term base you couldn’t go wrong here. All-in-all a great experience.

This hostel is AMAZING! perfect location, really cool rooms (we had a jacuzzi in the dorm! ) and atmosphere. You have the chance to meet lots of people since they have many things going on throughout the week! If you're in Dublin, go here!

The hostel is OK. But on the floor only one restroom for one floor-if it is not yours, you need to go to another floor.

Really great hostel, big and spacious. We were upgraded to a better room which was nice. In a great spot in Dublin by the Jameson distillery and just across the river from Temple Bar. Only issue was the room was warm so we had the windows open which meant then we could hear all the stag parties outside until late in the AM.

Tbh it was hands down the best hostel experience I could have had. All the staff is amazing and helpful. I have to give a shout out to Keith my Irish brother from another mother who became my best friend of all Ireland and showed me how to be a local Dubliner. Niamh and Dan really went out of their way to make me feel welcome and gave me great ideas on things to do and welcomed me into their circle of friends. I will forever love Dublin for all the staff at the Generator! Thank you so much for everything but no worries… I shall return!

Very nice place to stay for the money you pay, under 20 €. Staff was helpful, did their best to swap me upper bed to lower, as requested. I am giving my 5* even won't complain about walking to my room couple of times with non activated key. Could happen, especially when reception is busy. Clean enough, music down at 12.00 so no problem to sleep. Defo will be back again and will highly recommend to anyone willing to stay in city. Bar and food available in the hostel. Only possitive after feeling. If they will find my earing will be superior staff. Well done guys keep it go.

Room was clean, met some great girls. Loved the bar, and there was an awesome book Fair while I was there. A little out of the way of city center, which is nice. Go to dice bar around the corner.

The rooms were very clean and well put together. The water pressure in the shower was strong and there was a glass door so the water couldn't get all over the floor. I loved the atmosphere and I would definelty come back here again!

This hostel has my thumb up. Clean, spacious, on perfect place with bar and all of it for great price. Reasonable food price. Coffee is not included into Full-Irish breakfast. If you are looking for cheap hostel in Dublin, this is the place you wanna be.

A hostel with all good prices, huge bar, billiards, and concerts, ideal to spend a few days in Dublin and young people.

As hostels go, this is probably one of the nicer ones I've stayed in. The shared rooms were average. Bunk beds, sink in the corner, unbearably hot in the morning, and noisy throughout the night. Standard hostel formula. My only gripe was the bathrooms. The toilets were often blocked in the morning. The bar downstairs was cool. Average price for Dublin. We enjoyed a great burger on arrival. Recommend you try one if you're staying there.

I had a wonderful experience in this hotel… Friendly and helpfull crew. Very clean an neat rooms for great price. Free metal drawer inroom (bringing you own locker) with lot of space. Very well located near metro, supermarkets and bars. Not mentioning the hotel's bar is great too.

I have stayed here a few days and is a decent place. There is a bar in the ground floor and can be crowded in the evenings. There are private rooms and dormitory beds. The rates are cheap and may tend to go up during festive seasons.

Place downtown, clean, basic, breakfast could be improved.

I stayed for a week for a conference (RIP WebSummit! ). The staff were very helpful when I mixed up my schedule and had to find somewhere else to stay… Not something you want to deal with at 2am, so I really appreciate that. The cafe for breakfast was beautiful and they had a great selection. Wi-Fi was fast and had a plug to charge the phone in my bed. Very easy to walk to the train to get into town, and right by the river if you'd like a nice walk to the pubs. A+!

Excellent place to stay. Loads of activities, great space in rooms and lockers. Very close to luas line and busáras is mere minutes away with shopping in-between. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Rooms are comfortable and clean including the bathroom. Lounge area is nice to relax in. Lockers to store your gear both inside and outside the room. Location is decent with good local transport nearby like the last (tram) and buses. Negatives: Some of the staff didn't feel very welcoming and had not much enthusiasm which was a bit of a downer (seem to be in a world of their own). Not much atmosphere unless there is a pub crawl or live music on. Prices can be a bit expensive. Heater in the room seems to have a mind of its own when it comes on and off. No TV in private rooms which is a negative. One of the worst hostels I've ever been to. No kitchen facilities (mentioned on their site, though), so you're basically forced to use their bar (expensive one). Rooms are very cold, windows can not be closed (literally, they keep opening). Only a few places to charge your phone or laptop in the lounge. Very noisy, management can not do anything with that. Can not recommend that hostel to anyone.

The staff is simply amazing. First time at staying in a hostel, and they have been nice enough to help me out. The bar staff is awesome! I was served a Guinness by the best bartender in Ireland! Cleans rooms, hot water, and decent food. I will definitely stop back through if I come back to Dublin.

The prices are ridiculously low! The bedroom are fine and the hostel is overall clean. It also has a nice bar and relax zone with computers.

Ideal Hotel for city breaks to Dublin, for young couples, very good atmosphere, very economical and clean, will definitely be back.

Pretty solid hostel all in all. The rooms are nothing spectacular but put together well enough. The downstairs bar/restaurant area is a pretty good spot to hang out for a bit. The location isn't perfect but it's not a bad walk down to the main strip of bars, restaurants, etc.

Conveniently located and with great ambience. For young people ideal. Walking distance from the centre of Maastricht.

I am now here for the second time. The first time everything was super. The staff was nice, the bedding, the room and bathroom clean. Now at the second visit, I am less enthusiastic. The staff at the reception was unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The room is okay but the linen I would have to replace. It can be just bad luck, but if a Standard is offered, it should always be the same offer, and not once so and once so.

I think is one of the best hostels in Dublin. I've been there for 3 night. The room and the toilets were clean. The bar downstairs it's very nice. Very good location. The food prices I think are too expensive for a hostel. Usually you go for a hostel to save money but if you have to spend then on food it's not worhy any more. Only 3 stars because they've closed the kitchen.

I had a great time at Generator and their facilities had a high standard! The staff were nice and the hostel had some free tours around the city with a local guide and a pub crawl which was a great way to meet other travelers!

I stayed in this hostel for the first time last summer, and then booked it again this summer. It's a great place. It's in a nice area, within walking distance to everything. The staff is great and the on site bar is a cool way to meet other people in the hostel. The main downside was that there was no breakfast (I think you can get it if you pay extra, but we didn't know that), and that Smithfield square gets really loud at night, so we got woken up quite a few times by very noisy drunk people. But overall, its a great hostel and I'll stay there again if I return to Dublin.

Words cannot express how truly awful this place is. It is true — is clean, it is safe …it is an overpriced student halls (the kind where you pay a lot of money and get nothing in return) …. But what it makes up for in cleanliness and security, it lacks in any character or hospitality. I liken it to sleeping in a hospital for the night. If you are after a good night sleep, it is great. If you are after entertainment, they have everything in-house. It is the safest place in town, great if you want to experience nothing. If you have stayed in a hostel before, AVOID THIS PLACE. This is not a hostel, it is a budget hotel, it is a soulless dump. Great for stag/hen dos (and done a million times before :D). You are probably safe if you are staying mid-week (avoid at all costs at weekends — see previous sentence), but expect to meet no-one. The developers/owners have poured millions into the place to turn a brilliant historic building, into a lifeless hole, designed to suck the life out of staying in Dublin. These kind of places are cheap and will take the custom away from all of the great places to stay in the city, and will eventually kill them off. Pay £1/€1 more and stay somewhere that appreciates life. Thank you for reading this far. I really hope this isn’t deleted. :D.

The rooms and facilities are clean, the bathrooms also, but the people are very dirty!

Had a really lovely time in the Generator Hostel. Would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone. It is a really chilled and relaxed hostel, and sometimes there is nothing better than coming in after a long day and just relaxing downstairs in the bar. Either if your with a group, or just by yourself, the time spent here is really nice. The staff are extremely friendly and can have a good laugh, and the food is really tasty (Really cool chef by the way! ). The only negative I can think of is that it was a little bit too warm at night, and was a bit uncomfortable at times. But apart from that, if you need a nice place to stay that is safe and has some really cool people, book this hostel. You'l have a great time. :) Thanks Generator Dublin.

Fantastic and cheap! They're the perfect mix of annoyingly hipster and irishly hospitable. Everything was swift and easy and I felt secure the whole time. The bar and restaurant downstairs are delicious and not too pricey. As for the location, Smithfield is an awesome trendy place and only a ten minute walk to O'Connell at. Do it.

Last summer, me and 3 friends stayed here for ten day in a 4-people room with bathroom. It was all perfect.

Great location, clean rooms, very comfortable bed, and cool vibe. My only complaint is that 80% of patrons were dudes.

Never again this hostel the only good at the hostel is the price of Dublin's conditions. Who sleep at night needs is wrong here. Including secure left-luggage office, only with safety lock installed with otherwise who want most of the reception €5 for a NONAME curtain Castle. Times store of cookies at the front desk for a day trip out of place you should buy the Castle. Friendly staff, limited. I was very unsure whether the bedding was fresh a new gabs not anyway.

Great place, great vibe. There's a pub inside the hostel, perfect for people there are looking for fun and meeting people. The place ir very clean and the staff very helpful. The organization is good and you have to pay for the breakfast, but it is very good as well. There's two pool tables, various environments, computers avaibles, and more. Hope I go back there sometime. The olny bad thing are the bathroons, that are bad distribuited. The only ladies bathroom is in the first floor and very far from the other rooms. It would help if there was bathroons for both genres in all floors.

Stayed here early February for the Ireland Scotland match. The room was perfect, same with the facilities. 15 min walk from the city center. Great music and atmosphere downstairs. The bar man Mattius is a gent, we drink kenny loggins when we're out on the lash and we only had to tell him what it was once. Everytime we approached the bar afterwards he knew what we wanted and had a chat with us. Top man, he deserves a raise ;) We would stay here again for sure.

This was my first hostel experience ever. Nice, clean place with all the amenities. I really liked how the bunks in my room have power outlets and lights near the headboards so you don't have to charge electronics on the floor. This place has a great location with walking distance to Temple Bar and there's a Luas stop right out the front door. The immediate area itself is pretty quiet, which can be good or bad depending on who you are, but to me cleanliness of the facilities was most important, which they were. A minus was the men's bathroom being located on a different floor. It would have been nice to have one on each floor, but perhaps that just the American in me. One other minus was the breakfast that cost 5 Euro. It was pathetic. Just cereal, fruit and yogurt. And none of it was really good. For $7 I'd expect something hot and some real protein. Good thing I only ate there the last day. Eww.

Beautiful. Excellent atmosphere. Multicultural Interchange. Outstanding rooms.

The Hostel is very to recommend. Is very clean, the Service is excellent. Is located in the City Center and therefore all sights easy to reach, also without public transportation.
