Old Mill Holiday Hostel Hostel

Lovely little spot for a stay in Westport. Came here with 2 friends to climb Mweelrea mountain. Reasonably priced, clean, cosy and has a modern kitchen area. Lovely staff too. Will be back again. My only critique would be banging my head of the wooden beam but maybe that was down to one too many craft beers!

Clean beds plenty of hot water 15mins walk from railway station. Bike hire 2min walk also swimming pool cinema 2min walk. Traditional music pubs nearby.

Advertised as 10 beds on both their own website and hostelworld but I arrive to find 12 beds in the dorm (I mention this to the staff and they come up with some wishy washy excuse like they leave two beds for walk-ins, which I have never seen a hostel practice and also this wasnt mentioned anywhere on the listing, If I pay for 10 bedroom dorm I expect 10 beds. ), and this dorm is not adequate for 10 people let alone 12, there is only two small windows that dont open fully in one area of the room so lots of dead air and no space to store luggage so 12 peoples luggage all over the floor. I can only speak for their 10 (actually 12) bed dorm but it was a very bad experience if you are considering staying here dont use their 10 bed dorm.

Everything you at a decent price and right in the centre of town. We changed our travel plans last minute and they held three beds for us. Much appreciated!

The Old Mill is in a great location, right by the center of the city. The room and bathroom were clean, and the showers were warm. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind, and gave us many recommendations for restaurants and things to do.

The location is good and the hostel is OK, but the service they provide is 0. The personnel isn't friendly and helpful. They can't provide any information and don't even try to do it. When there is the problem with the Internet they send you to the hotel nearby instead of restarting their own equipment. There is no place to leave luggage. And after check out at 10 a. M. If you leave later you can't even have a cup of your own tea in the kitchen or use the toilet. The girl at the reception is very rude. Better to work in a prison with her approach than in a hostel.

Great value for money! I booked this place at the last minute so my expectations were low but I was quite impressed, there was a clean modern communal kitchen so that kept costs down, the hot water was on all night so you could have a shower at any time. The mattresses were quite new aswell so thats a plus. Despite the age of the building the upstairs room was well insulated and warm.

We stayed as a family and so had a room to ourselves with five beds in it, but considering we were paying €25 a head this was a very poor deal, at effectively €125 for the room. The location is hard to beat but we will never stay here again, we would rather travel in from outside town and actually stay in a place that feels a little more homely with an ensuite bathroom for the family room as is common in other hostels like that in Kong and Leenane. The final touch was that they were unable to take payment in any other form than cash, and we don't usually wander round with €125 in cash spare—how can this be acceptable in this day and age when I can pay for a coffee with digital payment? They waived this away with an excuse about the owner being in Dublin, but I struggle to see how this is an acceptable rationale for being unable to except digital payment, haven't they heard of PayPal?

The staff is very friendly and helpful, everything is clean. It's missing some atmosphere to accentuate the lovely building itself and the showers are very impractical, no place to put your stuff. Generally speaking there are not enough hooks but the bread for breakfast is delicious.

The Old Mill is a very cozy and nice Hostel, I felt welcome right away when walking in. The staff is very friendly and the building is beautiful. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are warm. I had a good night sleep!

Great, clean, comfortable, location perfdcta, good royo, good atmosphere, the workers are fantastic and always know people chachi from all parts of the world.

Very handy place to stay and right in the middle of town. Stayed here for Gaelforce so it was great to be right beside the finish line for the hot shower!

Good Location, Clean Bathromms, Very Friendly service, Prices are cheaper than the b&bs but expensive in comparison to other hostels. The Kitchen was great and the breakfast was awesome (the homemade soda bread was the best I ever tasted)

Really bad experience. The staff is very unfriendly, unmotivated and neither willing nor able to help you with any request. Tiny room with stale air, (which actually used to be a room for ten) updated for and crowded with 12 people which leaves you no space at all for your personal belongings. One of the two really small windows can be opened ajar, but this doesn't improve the air at all. The so-called breakfast is nothing but a joke. Do book elsewhere.

Bad experience. 1. They wouldn't let me check in when I arrived at 4pm as the rest of group wasn't there, they weren't arriving till 9pm. Stag or not, this was just unfair and terrible. I believe it was the manager I met on arrive, a smile would have been nice too. 2. They moved our belongings out of our room without properly notifying all of us. We thought we were robbed, they moved all our belongings to another room — inconvenient as we all had valuables lying around. Really badly communicated, staff weren't helpful either when they misplaced my laptop charger which took some time to find. 3. Codes on the doors constantly changed and when you check at the reception it was unmanned. Book elsewhere, even if it costs a little more. I'll do Airbnb next time for sure and not here.

Average hostel. In the toilets only boiling water in the sinks and only cold water in the showers.

Nice hostel, friendly staff, good location.

Stayed here on a family cycling holiday. Functional hostel, right in the centre of town and reasonable facilities. Friendly staff. Only complaint is that the quality of the beds was not great — even my children mentioned the quality of the mattresses.
