Very bad experience we JD today. A group of 15 of us, mostly guests from US, Europe and Australia took 15 silver thalis and were seated in the AC hall for dinner. Mid way in the dinner — around 30 minutes into it, we were asked to move out as another set of people wanted the table. We requested that we should be allowed to complete our meal For which this hotels ostensibly takes payment prior to allowing us in. To our horror some rowdy women from another group came and stood at our table shouting that they had booked this place 3 months in advance and they wanted us to vacate the table immediately — even without our meal getting over. The management of the restaurant disappeared leaving us to fend for ourselves from this rowdy crowd. Our guest from abroad were shocked and disgusted at this kind of treatment. You have Very unprofessional staff, who doesn’t have the guts to control rowdy elements. We had to leave without completing our meals as per the set menu for which we had paid almost Rs 30000.
Bad experience of this over hyped place. Shame shame.

This is one of the most exotic mansions I have set foot in. The arches, the colour combination and the very architecture were mesmerising. You could appreciate the beauty of a room for over half an hour and still miss the details. That intricate!
They serve awesome food in the rooftop restaurant and would definitely recommend to try the Gujarati thali up there. The breakfast was a bit of a letdown though.
Attentive staff, clean, prim and proper — just like the baron ordered.

Amazing view and the variety of food items are also delicious. You need to spend time enjoying the scenic view and enjoying the meal too. After the meal you can hang around the handicrafts store at the ground level.

The location is easily reachable. Rooms are good, clean and well maintained. The look of rooms is somewhat like 90's. The service is good. Inside hotel there are mini waterfall for decor and an indoor swimming pool also makes it a better place. Overall impression was nice!

The ambiance is super cool. Very nice service. The crockery was awesome! You can come to chill with friends. Not value for money though.

If I could give this hotel 6 stars, or even 10, I would! It is by far the best place I have EVER stayed — the hotel is beautiful, traditionally decorated and absolutely unique in every way, with a lovely pool and lots of common areas to sit and read. The on-site restaurants both serve delicious food and the gift shop is well worth a browse. But the best thing by far about this hotel is the staff — every single person who works at House of MG went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable and special as possible. Whenever I walked into reception or sat down in the restaurant, I felt like I was meeting friends. They truly made my visit to Ahmedabad.

Grossly overpriced, strictly not for the Indians as they will not enjoy. Any village theme restaurant will be better unless you want to eat in the silver thalis. This is an experience but at very high price. This can be good place for foreigners to experience hygienic Indian food.

This was one of my best experiences in any place of stay. The decor is homely and luxurious. Attention to detail is fantastic. Rooms are vary spacious and well designed for use. The famous Thali if not the best is well recommended. A full rich experience of Gujarati cuisine. However the reason why this property is above all o have experienced so far is the attitude of the members who take care of the guests. I do not call them staff and their action service because each and everyone takes care as if they are the host. Very respectful. Very accommodating. I happened to meet the lady GM taking a round of the property and she too was extremely warm in her behaviour. I would definitely come back to this place. If you want to pick one place in Ahmedabad to stay. Choose this. You won't regret it ever.

It's a Heritage Hotel. Historic building converted into hotel. Well maintained. Spacious rooms at reasonable rates. Upscale dinning experience. Amazing ambience. Absolutely great food. Very good service. Enough parking space. There are many antique things to see which belongs to Mangaldas Girdhardas. There is souvenir shop inside the building.

Amazing old colonial bungalow in the old part of Ahmedabad, that has been restored and preserved. Makes you feel like you are re-living history. The restaurant on the rooftop was incredible! Amazing authentic food which was well worth the money. The locals might find it pricey however if you are a tourist you have to visit this place.

Beautiful rooms but service was a let down. ROOMS: 4/5 Being a former palace, the rooms had grand proportions, the bedroom had a swing in it and the bathroom was the size of most bedrooms. There were great touches to hide modern equipment such as wooden boxes made around the light/fan switches and a wooden antique wardrobe built into the wall — it was too small to be of use but a nice touch. There were no blackout blinds in the bedroom and the curtains were very flimsy, unfortunately our bedroom overlooked the restaurant and busy main road beyond so light and noise constantly came into our room. LOCATION: 3/5 Set on a busy roundabout on a main road, opposite a well visited mosque meant it was noisy and polluted. There were several restaurants a stone's throw away and getting a rickshaw was easy as there were plenty going past but the short moments spent standing on the "street" negotiating fares etc were pretty tense. SERVICE & FACILITIES: 2/5 The hotel had a small but functional gym, a ridiculously overpriced restaurant — similar food served across the road at a quarter of the price — and a nice looking pool which was too cold for us to swim in. Service was a real disappointment, simple requests needed two to three phone calls to check on, for example, it took several hours and numerous reminders before Ethan's bed was finally delivered, meaning a delayed bedtime and all the things that follow on from that.

A palace converted into a luxury hotel and a job well done with all the estectics in place. It's an up scale place so if you have deep pockets only then think of it. Yes you can go to eat at the restaurant that's affordable.

It's a lovely Hotel with several restaurants in it to suit all kinds of people. We wanted to go to Agashiye but since it needed prior reservation and was full… we had our dinner at The Green House … an outdoor cafe-restaurant. Had authentic Gujarati food and enjoyed the quick service!

House of MG is one of the Heritage Hotels in the UNESCO World Heritage City in Ahmedabad. It has beautiful ambience which makes you feel very homely. Its has all the modern facilities and also its a very pleasing place. Its a typical villa with old verandahs and courtyards. The furniture inside it gives a feel of vintage palace. It also has a pool inside it. The entire decor is developed from the artists with all different types of culture and art effects. Foreigners are mostly likely to come in this hotel and experience the heritage of city and explore it to its best.

The ambience is fantastic, excellent rustic styled benches outside in excellent shade for outdoor experience while one can also be indoors if in need of airconditioning. The food exceeds expectations-tasty sumptuous and fabulous variants. We were unable to eat in view of quantity served which is more than adequate. All this being vegetarian food.
Would like to visit again on next trip to Ahmedabad. Will be incomplete if I miss-being a heritage building the experience even more fantastic.

Went for dinner. It is one of the best fine dine experience in Ahmedabad. The staff is very courteous. The food is amaizing. And the ambience is very good.

I visited for the 'Pop-Up' Christmas event. There were four vendors — TeaLab, Pen&Oar, Tejas Patisserie and Food & Wellness. The Paint-n-Sip workshop was by TeaLab and Pen&Oar. It was super fun. The royal ambience of the House of MG amplified the Christmas feels.

Amazing service, brilliant food and overall unforgettable experience. Must visit for every tourist in Ahmedabad. Don't miss the morning and night heritage walks, absolute treat.

Authentic Gujarati thali… Traditional house with so many antique things… Great place to hang out for a dinner or lunch. Amidst the centre of the city… Ahmedabad… Great taste of Gujarati flavor… A must see place.

This is an over hyped place. They mainly want to attract foreign tourists who do not mind paying anything in the name of Heritage property. The property is very old and somehow being maintained at 3 star category hotel level. The facilities are negligible and even for car drop to airport which is part of the agreed hotel tariff, one needs to haggle and argue. Finally they relent and make guest share a shuttle for airport drop. I have never experienced this kind of hospitality in any hotel. They have over priced everything, including the F&B rates. The food is good, but does not justify the premium being charged. Will recommend to not get enthralled by rosy reviews. They have marketed themselves really well, that's it.

I appreciate the restoration and keeping the heritage outfit of the property. Good food and great atmosphere. It's always good to be here again and again. Today I just realised that a bit more attention if paid in the service part would be great. Keep up the good work.

I think its the best place I enjoy. The atmosphere is so cool & plesent. I hv been there many times. About food … its simply awsome & the taste is almost like homemade food.
I love its corn bhathura … its simply yummy.

5/5 for the Ambience. The food is not so extraordinary, but the way it is presented, with a history to accompany every bite, should be experienced atleast once if you are in Ahmedabad. The perfect place to start if you are looking for an introduction to Gujarati culture and food.

Located on a 5 star property, in the heart of the city, the theme of the restaurant is really well thought. Food was delicious and the people were really friendly and accepting any requests they were handed to them. a bit more variety for the price could be left wanting for, but overall a decent experience.

My first time in Ahmedabad and I couldn't have expected a better property than this. A friend of mine recommended we stay here and I can't thank him enough. Loved the ambience, the staff, service and the overall energy. Should I ever visit that city again, this will be the place I shall be staying at again.

It is always a good place to visit, excellent Gujarati food, have visited 20+ times during last one year, however, my last visit during Lunch hours with some esteemed guests including the MD of my company on Wednesday (26/07/2016) was awful!
Each one of the service staff was busy impressing some VIP seated next to our table resulting in very poor service on our table, to top it all, the Supervisor on duty — Mr Mahendra Bhai Patel was very rude which is just not acceptable!
Agashiye being a top of the line eatery cannot afford to have such ill mannered staff — either mend your ways Mr Patel or move on from Agashiye, this iconic place deserves better staff!

A very lavish place to stay. The main attraction is the roof top restaurant which serves amazing traditional gujarati cuisine.

This is my favourite Hotel! I love the building and the details of the inventive interiors! All the restaurants are delicious and the staff is so very kind and helpful. The bathrooms are great. The pool is out of this world. If you needed anything the senior supervisor of Housekeeping, Mr. Hasmikh is willing and efficient. The new store have the most fabulous books and curated crafts of infinite detail. The exhibition they have mounted is so very special! Compared to other museums in the City, it has wonderful display systems and the curating first class. This is my third stay at the house and each stay has been perfection. Do not miss the experience of staying here or visiting the shop and restaurants!

WARNING — Thieves. While this beautiful hotel is of high quality and standards. Be warned they charge you the entire amount of your stay a week after booking and they will not reimburse you if you cancel or need to check out earlier than initially planed. The policy is not very obvious when booking. Note that they will not even negotiate for the amount in a voucher. Such a shame — It is a really beautiful set up.
