Red Thread Vagator Resort

This is my first day at Shalai and I’m already fed up of this place. It’s not the first hotel I’ve stayed at, in so many years of travel, but definitely the first one to disappoint me like this. I can’t even begin to list all the discrepancies this so called 4 star hotel has. And all the blaming towards “monsoon”. As if the rains are unseasonal and it caught them by surprise. If it is so difficult to manage during rains, then I would suggest please keep the hotel closed in these months. House keeping is worst. The staff, although cordial, doesn’t do the basic duties. The room remained dirty even after hours of our absence (no cleaning, mopping, changing sheets, changing used plates, no maintenance work was done). We had to come back to a messy room after a tiring day. These are not any out of the box services, these are JUST SOME BASIC services that we expect from any hotel, let alone a 4 star one.

Breath taking view! Jaccuzi and the private lawn is an highlight. Peace, good food, good rooms. If you want to enjoy the amazing view of the beach then you are going to fall in love with this place. Just beware of the ants and other insects! Well that is the part and parcel of these kind of unique hotels!

One of the worst experience ever. Let's start with the positive sides: the view is just amazing and the location very convenient. The rooms are nice even if there's only one mirror in the bathroom. Now the negatives: the staff is just terrible! They don't speak English so it's not easy to communicate, sometimes they tell you they understood your request while they actually haven't. The breakfast was buffet for the first days and then changed in a la carte. Which would be fine if they didn't take 1 hour to get your order ready! Plus they were three or four people doing nothing and still nobody was coming to take your order, you had to get up and tell them what you wanted every single time. The rooms aren't cleaned daily, the towels aren't replaced and no water supply unless you ask. The electricity keeps coming and going. No smiles from the staff. Considering the price paid it really wasn't worthy!

The location is EXCELLENT. I don't think there is a better place in Goa that has such a wonderful view! The food is tasty, and the ambience at the restaurant (specially the ocean view from the corner table) is beautiful! You can climb down the cliff through stairs and enjoy your time at Vagator beach. There are a couple of good beach shacks and some shops! The road leading to the resort can be hard, it is all rocky!

The deluxe rooms for me were a little small with lot of scope for improvement with respect to maintenance… The food is not bad, staff is very helpful and the Location… Uff… That is a WINNER! If it was just for the location I would give it 6 out of 5 stars…

BEWARE: Shalai could really screw your vacation and leave you in the lurch! I had heard really good reviews about this place and was really looking forward to it. You plan your trip months in advance, block your money months in advance and a day before you aee supposed to check in, you are given a lame excuse that the room is not "safe"?! And therefore they will not be able to accomodate you. Instead they give you a choice of a partner resort away from the sea and the view and say that is the only one left. And you are completely at their mercy. Thankfully we had done our booking through Makemytrip which saved us a world of pain. They provided us with an alternate booking in a resort of our choice. Make your booking here at your own peril!

Amazing property, awesome view from here. Small bar/ pub inside this place with an awesome view of the sea. Staff don't know how to manage guests, I request them for a service but later on after and hour I was told sorry that it's unavailable today, but you know how to manage them. Rooms are small but are clean. I enjoyed here with my friends. Rooms also have messages written on the wall. You will enjoy your stay here. Oohh one more point — roads connecting to this place are worst. So be extra cautious while driving or riding.

Went here on a Saturday night. Found the food here very good. I noticed Sarah Todd personally attending to customers and making sure they were seated in spite it being a very busy night. Loved the Sarah Todd Ice Noughat special.

Beautiful property with best view. Rooms are tad small in size. Food quality leaves a lot to be desired. Pro tip — get a super deluxe room.

We had a memorable stay at the resort. The view from the rooms were absolutely stunning. The staff was also very good. This is a very good place for people travelling with pets.

The view from this place is awesome. And the food is also great. And in the end if ur staying here then it will definitely be a pleasant stay.

Beautiful property with amazing view. The view from the restaurant area is breathtaking especially the corner table. They have all rooms with a sea view. The staff is very helpful and disciplined. The access road is the only problem which doesnt matter though. Keep it up guys.

It’s not at all up to 3-star standards. They initially gave us bad room, after complaining they shifted us to normal room. Cottages are very normal… only the cliff view is good… there’s no hot water, power cut frequently, they don’t even clean the rooms, stinky towels. I don’t recommend this to anyone, as for this price we can get a better 4-star hotel.

Good. 1. Location amazing 2. Value for money 3. Food, services prompt. Bad. 1. Rooms needs maintenance on urgent basis At least the room I stayed had some issues a) no refrigerator b) the washroom door was not closing properly c) it rained and there was ingress of rain water in the room d) no night lamps on the lamp socket, bad lighting in the room 2. Accessibility to the place Need to put a bigger direction board for visitor 3. The check out time is 11:00 and check in time is 14:00, within these 3 hours they are supposed to replenish or fix any associated problem within the rooms, but I guess there was no checks carried out as I had to call room service multiple time for fixing the issues as I was encountering them. Summary : a very gud place to stay on in Goa Provided the above mentioned problems are fixed.

Great experience! Planned to stay there for a night but ended up extending it. Celebrated my birthday there and the hospitality and service given to us was remarkable. Awesome view from the room, peaceful environment and great food. What else could one ask for? Definately going to stay at shalai everytime I visit Goa.

Rude and unprofessional staff… don't know the value of customers. Be sure what you pay for… absolutely dishonest and back out of commitments, make sure you take in writing though that may also not work. Horrible approach to the property, kacha road for about 400m leading to the property, dingy and scary at night. Not advisable for women traveling alone or maybe just one couple. High chances of the bike skidding you hurting yourself. Property Good only in looks and not in service. Not an easy walk to the beach also, very basic view. What a waste… not worth the cost being asked for… save your money. Would have given a 0 rating if I could. Aria resort next door — any day way better in service and experience. Shalai team should go and learn from them.

There was little difficulty in regards to early check in. But otherwise it's a five star experience. It's not Taj or Raddison. It's a boutique kind property. But Amazing experience. There are little issues with bathroom, like water draining. Management should look into it. I stayed in Placid. But again. 5 stars for the location. Thanks.

Great staff that were super friendly and accommodating. The location was fantastic, being the furthest and highest establishment on Ozran Cliffside. However, the cabin rooms we were allocated were not worth the price we would have paid for them (we thought found a pretty good deal). Common spaces and areas around the resort are nice and offer beautiful views but there is no pool. All in all a decent stay with breathtaking views.

We had to request a change of room thrice in a day! On day 1 it took almost an hour for them to get breakfast on our table. Day 2 was quick since most had left because of the service. Place is under maintenance. You'll find it hard to find this place and it's a pretty dark route to this place at night, read unlit. The place has got potential though. Rooms were pretty neat and the view is amazing.
