Varkala beach is nice. A serene place which you can totally baffle which is so compact but fully packed to immerse you with the sea… It is a calm place to enjoy the beach over the cliff and alleyway to enjoy fresh sea food in candlelight at night. Best time to visit is from August to January. There food is also nice.

Beach is very vast and beautiful sights vary at different places along the coast. The Varkala Cliff is the most famous spot here and gives a stunning view overlooking the vast sea and the sky which is perfect for a few snaps. It's very clean and parking is also available at the cliff.

Nice beach. Not much crowded. Anyway… Nice spot to chill. Don't go at mid day. You will get fried out of ⛅ sun.

One of the best Beach in Kerala… Good view in the morning and in the evening. A very good selection for a holiday visiting. Lots of parking facilities. So many restaurants and hotels are located near to this beach. Foreigners are very interested in visiting here.

The owner of the hotel is very educated, friendly person who lived earlier in Europe. The level of service and accommodation corresponds to the European.

One of my favorite places to be when I'm in Kerala. The variety of different types of souvenir shops & multi — cuisine restaurants along the north and south side of the cliff overlooking the beautiful Varkala beach offers a bit of something for everyone.

The view of the beach from above is truly amazing. The beach is so busy with a heavy crowd from across the globe. Very civilised crowd though. Overall its a great experience!

Disappointed. We were three and wanted to stay in three rooms as the visit was of business purpose. But they didn't allow saying they give only for families and not for single occupants. If they informed about this strange rule at the time of booking, we might not have travelled till there and wasted our time.

This is the best beach I have ever seen… Very clean and good atmosphere. When comparing Marina beach (Chennai) with it, Varkala beach is d best. Loved it very much.

1 of the most beautiful and serene beaches of south India. Near to Trivandrum, Varkala is not much crowded with clean beaches and gives a serene view of ocean from the cliff. The cliff view separates it from the other beaches in the vicinity. There are lot of joints where you can have your fill as per your taste both vegetarian and non vegetarian.

Well maintained beach. Famous tourist spot in South India. Facilities are great. The view from the cliff is so enchanting. There will be huge rush in the evenings. The roads are narrow and chance for traffic block is more. Bus services are available to all locations.

Varkala is a gorgeous beach in the situated in the district of Thiruvananthapuram. It is a perfect place to hangout with friends or family. You can see a beautiful sunset from here. It usually quiet and calm here. Large number of foreigners come here. It is very clean. There are cliffs on the shore so you can chill out on top of them.

Location — The resort is not situated near the beach nor can you view the beautiful Varkala beach from any of the rooms of this resort. Although the beach is only 5 minutes walk away. Ambience — The resort per say has a beautiful ambience. Room — The room however was a big disappointment compared to the price we paid. 4k for a room with only the most basic facilities was a big let down. Bedding and linen was not that clean, no complimentary tea/coffee provisions and kettle, mirror only in the washroom not in the main room and no TV. One can easily get better rooms at much cheaper prices and better facilities nearby which we later discovered. Food — We had Idli — Sambhar in the breakfast served without any chutneys and it was just average. Spa — Although the resort has Ayurveda Spa in its name but the facility is not colocated in the resort. All in all it is more of a home stay rather than a resort with a very courteous and helpful staff.

One of the best beaches in India. The cliff side view is unique to Varkala. The tranquility and calmness is unmatched.

Go hire a bike. For food, go inside the village. You can visit places around and eat cheap food. Very accessible. Autos are available from varkala railway station and bus station. Very long cliff to shop, drink and eat.

Fantastic views and scenic beauty. The sunset and sunrise views are marvellous and of picturesque beauty. Normally crowded but one does not feel any clumsiness due to it. Beside the beach, a wide range of shops are there from where you can get whatever you want — starting from Kerala Kathakali masks to sea shells to wide variety of food.

It is a very good beach. Though certain parts are deep (there are warning boards), the sand is clean, not too crowded and has got facilities on the beach itself to get yourself clean after having a bath in seawater.

One of the best beaches in Kerala. Presence of lifeguards makes it safe. The stretch is not very lengthy though, so kind of gets crowded in the evenings and late mornings. A walk further north towards Kappil is worth where there's absolutely no crowd and completely peaceful.

One of best beautiful beach in Kerala. The total atmosphere is awesome. One place for any kind of tourist. Lot of cafeteria’s, hotels and tourism activities. Don’t miss the natural water spout in the beach. Paragliding start normally after 2 PM from cliff house Helipad. Have some fun.

Excellent place to hangout with friends. Don't jump here directly in night especially when you're visiting this place for the first time. You'll feel lost. Plan for at least 24 hour trip. Watch sunrise, sunset from the beach. During late night, as the beach is flat the waves are pretty beautiful and you will feel like spending the whole night staring at it. Alcohol is largely popular here with multiple discos and bars. Open restaurant are beauty here. You'll get all kinds of non veg foods here. Make sure too book a room here as soon as you arrive. Finding a good room becomes a problem here at night. For reaching the beach you have to go downhill. So its better that you wear good shoes. Rest will be amazing. You'll love it. Enjoy the beach coz you'll definitely miss it later and regret later for the things you didn't done.

Varkala beach is also known as Papanasam beach, named after a stream of water that naturally springs from the cliff side, which is believed by the locals to have magical powers to cure a person of his sins (in Sanskrit, papa means sin and nasa means kill or destroy). The beach is beautiful, wide and, long. I would highly recommend watching sunset here. It is one of the most beautiful things I have experienced my life. The best time to visit the beach would be after the monsoon season. Late December to March offers sunny days with good views and clear weather, although it can get rather hot and humid. Temperatures will rise up to 35 or 36 degrees Celsius during the middle of the day, so avoid the beach during this time. After 5 P. M, the atmosphere will start to get comfortable with temperatures in the 20s.

I'm living near this place and this is one of the beautiful beaches in India. Enjoy the view from the cliff top. You can see the small street shops and restaurants like you see in Goa. This place is calm and less rush compared to others such as Kovalam, obviously cheap and clean too!. Enjoy your evening in Varkala :)
