Nice place for holidays very good location good food, surrounded with natural beauty with lots of activities offered by resort including boat ride on Periyar lake.

Located into densed and defence forest. An hour drive from Kochi airport. This place is secluded from all the city huddle bustle. This camp offers very interesting activities, where you can play badminton, cricket etc or if you are interested in archery then also you can enjoy here. This place offers you cycle tours of the bird Century which is a nice encounter with nature. Also not to miss canoeing here in to the lake. A must recommended property.

Beautiful and well maintained. Excellent staff… Vishnu, who took us for the kayaking trip was very good, knowledgeable and friendly. Abhilash and Praveen made sure our stay was comfortable. We had to switch rooms couple of times as we had failed to mention our needs… But they accommodated us without a frown. Best staff. Beautiful place. Good homely food. We went in the off-season, so did not see any elephants … Just few monkeys and birds.

Stayed here during the day. Great views as it is bang on the bank of River Periyar. Difficult place to find and to get to. But have a location for some great shots for photography enthusiasts. Quite, serene and beautiful place. Camp area is not properly maintained and little dirty. They offer many amenities, but apart from Kayaking Cycling, almost all others are suitable for childrens below 10 yrs. Average food. Friendly Staffs. Overall average experience.

Small camp with canvas tent like structures. We did not stay the night. Just went there for a group outing. Activities like kayaking, cycling, trekking, bird watching can be enjoyed. Beautiful place. Reminded me why Kerala is called the God's own country. Very near to forest. Nice staff. Overall good experience.

It's a nice place to hang out with your friends or colleagues. They have activities like kayaking, football, volleyball, badminton etc. It's located near a beautiful river which runs beside a forest. Great ambience.

I come often and am always happy to be back. Excellent service, good cooks, fun activities to enjoy with any age group!

Though a little overpriced it was the most enjoyable forest stay O could imagine. Food and location was outstanding. The manager and the staff were very friendly. Though it was a very safe stay and the rooms are made very well, I really think they need to work a bit more for security in the room specially the section between the room and the attached bath. The rooms should also have a light switch outside the door as it's very difficult to open the tiny locks provided by the management after dark. It's a very well maintained estate and the manager was more than helpfull in arranging for our special requests regarding birdwatching trips as we were solely there for that purposeo only. The other activities in the camp are also well maintained and lots of fun. We really enjoyed kayaking session. It's location is the top best thing to be noted.

We spent two nights at Hornbill camp. We had a great experience. It was a true escape from the hustle and bustle of India. Clean bathrooms with hot water. Meals were good with both veg and nonveg options. Bird watching excursion was a good hike. Highly recommend that. We also saw birds kayaking in the river. We saw over 20 varieties including Hornbill and frog mouth owl. We also took the bikes to the hanging bridge. Also the plantation tour by Praveen was very informative. The grounds are kept up nice by the staff. Suresh the camp manager made sure we had what we needed. Our tents were clean. We enjoyed sitting on our tent porch as well as the pavilion. This was the highlight of our Kerala trip.

Staying at the Hornbill Camp was a great experience. The facility was great — the tents are fitted with bathrooms and plenty of hot water. There is a lot to do, from bird watching at the nearby bird sanctuary with experienced guides, to kayaking. The food was excellent! We had breakfast, lunch, and dinner during our stay — everything was delicious with many Kerala specialties made. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a great outdoor experience in Kerala.

It was an excellent experience at the Hornbill Camp, I really liked the atmosphere, food and activities… very nice place.

Worst place I have ever visited. They just made some insecure tents and and calling it as 3 star resort. W e went for a team outing there and all of us were totally disappointed. This was not we expected for Rs 900 + GST per head. Food was very poor. They were serving some white rice and few curries which included 2 non veg Items. This can be available in any hotels for not more than Rs 100. They didn't even serve a dessert. They served some semolina payasam as dessert. They knew that kayaking was not allowed during that time and they didn't inform us about it. Overall it was a very bad experience and I don't suggest anyone to go there and waste your time and money.

One if the best places in Thattekad to stay. Place is well maintained and the stay inside the tents will give you an adventurous feel. The arrange boating, cycling and walking trails for you. Staff was very cooperative, especially the manager Suresh.

Not worth for money We went for team outing. They charged 980 per person. Food was average. (worse for vegetarians). Tents also normal and the lighting were not working. The Music system which they were charging 2000 Rs but later agreed for compliment was also not working properly. Not at all recommended during Summers.

Worth a stay. Got room for 1700 for 2 including 2 meals. So much stuff to do… very well maintained.

This is a fabulous place for corporate training, family outing with nice options like kayaking, trekking, cycling etc amidst nature. It's right on the Periyar river bank. It's about 4 hours journey from Coimbatore and close to Cochin. You can sight beautiful migratory birds and butterflies and also some animals in the surrounding. We simply loved it.

Good place should be visited once dnt frgt to go cylce ride.

A place for being with nature. Bird watching and kayaking possible. Not a place for a stay out with noisy partying. Tranquil, calm, green like a tropical forest.

20 minutes away from my undergrad school, but I happen it visit here after graduating 2 years later. This place is less known among the local population because of the over hyped place (Munnar) nearby. The birds around this place are exotic and endangered, that you wouldn't want to miss. Must see place! :D The best part is to catch a bus/car to boothathan kettu dam nearby take a dip in the water (note : be cautious not be pulled away by the under current). If you still want to see nature closer go further till the public bus takes you over the dam road till the bus ride enter. You would find more places unknown to tourists.

The Hornbill Camp with a difference, last 2 weeks before stay in hornbill camp. Totally very good, especially staffs, accommodations, kayaking, recommended my friends & relatives, wonderful destination in Kerala.

And this dream of thousands of nature enthusiasts has been fulfilled by the Camp Hornbill, which is located in the Kyari village near the border of the Jim Corbett National Park The Camp Hornbill opens the doors to the purity that resides in the untamed roughness of the national park.

I have been here once and was memorable stay. This place makes you feel right inside the jungle. I went on a birdingcum cycle trip with their naturalist and it was fun. Naturalist are well informed and they know how to track birds. I could see ceylon frog mouth which I have been wanting to see for some time. I recoomend this aplce for two kind of people. Birders and those who just want to spend some quite days in a jungle. Periyar river flows close by and you can opt for free kayaking classes. loved it.

On my first visit to Hornbill Camp what struck me first was the unique location of the camp itself. Set up right in the heart of the famous Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, on the banks of the river Periyar with plantations all around it and pristine forest on the other bank of the river, you are, as they say in the lap of nature! The tented accommodation with its attached bathroom is comfortable and blends well with the ambiance. The food is delicious and the staff especially the guides competent and courteous. For the adventurous there is trekking and cycling. I tried my hand at kayaking and was lucky to spot a wild elephant on the other of the river. TV is mercifully absent and one really enjoys the peace and quiet. Altogether an unforgettable experience. Brigadier P C Thomas.

A perfect place to relax for the reason you won't find any crowd or public thronging around since this is one among the three places to stay besides Periyar river at Thattekad, Salim Ali bird sanctuary. Kayaking at early hours (6-10 am) or (evening hours before sunset) is incredible as you would sight many exotic and endangered bird species. The staffs were very supportive and friendly.

I would like to start by saying words are simply not enough to describe the vibrant beauty, warm loving service, and the blissful peace we experienced at this place. Though it may sound untrue, but honestly one cannot fathom the heavenly experience to be had at this place without actually visiting. The location is awe-striking, based at the river this place merges scenic beauty and pampering service till your hearts content. I travelled to the horn bill camp with a group of 6 from Mumbai, and I can tell you now my most memorable times have been here. People are sweet, the food is literally to die for, hard to believe as it may be but ive had some of the most tastiest food here. The payasum is a must have! Do go for the guided bird watching session, and trust me on this, when you come across a small canal take a minutes walk upstream! You will come across a lush green thicket of leaves underwater where one can just laze around and enjoy the water flowing through. The housing is a simple machaan type hut, but the beds are warm and cosy and the bathrooms are quiet clean and well maintained. If your not much of a walk lover and are short on time, they have cycles too! Though swimming in the river is not allowed, one can easily kyack in it and explore the lavish forested area (a wild life sanctuary) Thank you for such a satisfying and unforgettable experience.
