I and my family decided to take a holiday in Alleppey in July which is usually an off season. We booked the Lemon Tree hotel near the Vembanad lake, I must say we had a very nice experience in terms of the stay and ambiance of the property. We had booked a 3 nights package where the hotel pays for the 3rd night, to our pleasant surprise owing to off season the hotel gave us a complimentary upgraded to a delux room with a beautiful lake facing view. The Lemon Tree property itself is awesome and a beautiful sight. Its 30 min from the railway station and hence its a 'noiseless place' and serene away from the hustle and bustle of the main city. It has various trees like 'paan', lemon tree with a strong pleasant scent that you will never forget, a bay leaf plant, peppercons and brilliant flowers like purple orchids and yellow 'dancing lady' flowers, a lotus pond within the property. A stroll around the property will allow you to experience all these The other thing that's good is the lake view rooms, the back door of your rooms opens out to a wide swimming pool with the vembanad lake as its background. Stunningly beautiful. The hotel staff is courteous and quick to satisfy your needs. However I noticed that in the off season they usually hire trainees, who are ill experienced and are learning so I would recommend that they be trained well before they actually become 'guest facing staff' The food in the citrus cafe restaurant is decent the menu is a bit limited but the chef is very friendly and makes an effort to make food that you want to have even if its not on menu. The breakfast menu is good I loved the omelettes. You can expect a simple tasty food that is closer to home made and less of the actual restaurant fanfare, but all said and done like I said the food is decent. (also given the fact that there are no restaurants closer to the property) They also have a fishing area within the property and provide fishing rods (simple homemade ones) complimentary to guests. You can expect to catch quite a number and variety of fishes and the experience is to live for. I would highly recommend a shikara / motor boat ride organized by the hotel that would take you right from the hotel to a small island minutes away from the property and kumarakom backwaters, the experience again will be worth it. Overall to conclude I highly recommend Lemon Tree alleppey hotels in the off season, if some one has had an on-season experience they could tell you that as well.
