Good food and the view is awesome.

The Troll Garden was a fun adventure with all kinds of different games to play. The food at the little restaurant was really amazing!

Best place ever in Iceland. The pods are lovely, we seen the Northern Lights. Facilities are amazing such as kitchen equipment, cleanliness of washrooms. The surroundings are magnificent. Restaurant with a view to the waterfall, lamb goulash highly recommended, good prices.

This was our favorite hotel in Iceland! The waterfall was so beautiful and the Troll walk was very charming.
The restaurant was beyond amazing and was priced very reasonably! We can not wait to return!

Guest rooms and simple camping huts. Two fully equipped camp kitchens. Free hot tubs fed by a hot spring. Restaurant with bar service and local beers. The owner is the chef, has written four books about trolls and was the owner of a successful record label of Icelandic musicians in the seventies and eighties. Local bands perform on the restaurant stage. There is a troll trail representing the books out back. This is the perfect place to end your trip around the ring road before flying home.

This is a must-do if you're in the area. We didn't stay at the hotel, but we stopped there for dinner after doing Into The Glacier and The Cave. We couldn't believe what a find this place was. So many things to say: they have a room with a record player and a huge record collection. The view is amazing… incredible waterfall on a river. There is a "troll walk" outside the restaurant with troll sculptures and stories. And the food is excellent. Highly recommended!

For 4 days the ideal place for excursions to the surrounding area. Idyllic located, super breakfast with salmon, room functional and clean, dinner very tasty, totally nice staff. Absolutely recommended!

I’m so glad we found this place! We didn’t stay here but we were looking for a good restaurant to stop and eat and this was such a good choice. The plokkfiskur was excellent as well as the lamb goulash. Great views of the waterfall out the restaurant windows. We also went on part of the “troll walk” which was really fun despite the cold wind!

Great place to stay. The pods were real comfy, jacuzzi is an added plus. The bathroom and kitchen were all clean.

We rented one of the rooms Q gives to the waterfall. The scenery is spectacular with recreation of the trolls. Good Food.

Guesthouse shared with 2 other pairs of people having the room that overlooks the living room/kitchen. Lots of noises by life and waiting for people to lie down. The dinner and breakfast were well served and the past vinyls caught up a bit the bad night past. I advise to take the small cottages separated or you will surely be more quiet.

Incredible troll cabins, too cute, really looks like a shire troll. Very good place to see the Northern Lights.

Such a nice spot to stay for one or two nights. They got hotpots and a pretty waterfall.

This hotel was another one of my stops during my trip to Iceland, the staff very friendly, and the owner who writer signed us his book "The Last Troll". From its jacuzzis we could observe the aurora borealis, which I recommend to 200%.
Take into account the need to take sleeping bag or rent the sheets there, we opted for this last option and was very successful, the sheets were in perfect condition.

Our favourite stay during our trip. Great location, not too far off the ring road. A cross between a guesthouse and a hotel. A few different accommodation styles are offered with shared bathrooms, private bathrooms & suites. Stayed in a private bathroom unit which was tastefully decorated, had tall ceilings, a decent shower, TV in room, comfortable bed and good Wi-Fi connectivity. The window in room overlooked the parking lot, not a lot of privacy unless you lowered the black out blind. The hotel owner (who is also a music producer in Iceland) wrote several books on trolls which were inspired by nearby landmarks like the waterfall next to main house/restaurant. The troll rock, the original inspiration for the books, had to be recreated after someone damaged it. He also created a "troll walk" which is a short walk around the property with a few plaques and fibreglass troll statues along the route.

A uniquely Icelandic experience camping in little camping pods (think large wooden fully enclosed shelter) instead of a tent. More conventional cabins are available too but we stayed in one of the camping pods. An onsite restaraunt is available for meals with an awesome view overlooking some water falls but we did not eat there. For the camping pod guests, there is a communal kitchen, bathroom, shower, and hot tub facility for your use. Several hiking trails start from here too. A fun place to stay!

We stayed in a standard room (which includes breakfast) and had dinner at the restaurant. Nothing is fancy but everything is done well. Nice eclectic feel, convenient location. Hot tubs under the night sky were a lovely bonus.

Great cabins at this location. It is not that far from the city. Around 40 mins drive. Great scenery around the camp. Great for people that like the nature. If you did not bring sleeping bags and pillows, you can rent them there.

A hidden gem between Reykjavik and Borganes — would absolutely come back and explore the area more! We stayed in a camping pod which was luxury after nights of camping. The hot tub, shower and kitchen facilities were great and very well kept! We particularly enjoyed the Troll hike :)

Beautiful landscape! Rooms are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped for dining. We especially loved the beautiful panorama from east to West. The small river with its waterfalls is magnificent.

Excellent service (accomodation and meals), very kind and helpful staff (special 'thank you' to Silviu), great location (the waterfall and nearby hiking trails). I would love to return soon.

I absolutely loved the walk and the atmosphere. We did not stay in the hotel as we were just having a pit stop for the rock and troll café. I highly recommend you to check the books made by the owner. Delightfull painting on the wall as well. Next time we come to Iceland I would love to stay there for a night or 2.

We stayed at Fossatún for 3 days and it was absolutely amazing. We had the sunset cottage with an amazing view to Snæfellsnes and Borgarnes. Fossatún is located at Route 50 (Borgarnes to Reykholt) 20km away from Borgarnes. We enjoyed the loneliness. The sunset cottage itself is not huge, but really beautiful and enough space for 3 person (max 4 person can sleep in this cottage). Two sleeping rooms, a big bath room and a long room with a kitchen and a table with four chairs and two huge windows to watch the Aurora Borealis outside (when it's too cold for you). @ (100005081019946:Jana Arlt) next time again! We really enjoyed it there.

The concept of the hotel is integrated into the fantastic world of trolls connecting with nature and with very good music accompanying always. Authentic 100%. The owner had an important Icelandic musical stamp and this is reflected in the good music of the restaurant, the collection of discs, and the compilation that they have for sale (highly recommended to buy! ). He has also written several fantastic tales inspired by the area and translated into several languages, there is even a troll circuit with statues. The room was clean and the breakfast was very good. We also had dinner and at a reasonable price to be Iceland, we were very happy.

Probably a nice hotel but for GUESTS ONLY. As general travelers, we tried to stop in for lunch but it is ONLY available to tour groups that have planned it in advance or hotel guests. The location is beautiful and the staff is very friendly but as someone who chose this as a lunch spot based on reviews, note that it is NOT for all travelers.

Four words: this is a gem. Is our 6 night in Iceland, we have run into great hotels… but this place, it's just amazing!
