Reviews of Guesthouse Stöng and Cottages 2*
This guesthouse is all about the money, and they don’t care about the experience you will have during your stay. Everything is expensive, and there is nothing special about this place. The rooms are mediocre, and we can hear the people in the next room. The food is too expensive, around 45 euros a meal, and there is nothing amazing about it. The place takes advantage that they are isolated to charge you a lot of money for any type of service. We asked for the laundry service, and the first time they told us that it would cost around 30 euros. We decided to do it on the next day, and the price was already different, around 40 euros. We explained them that they have given us a different price before, so they agreed on 30 euros. The next day, they charged us 60 euros, because they decided to do 2 laundry machines, without telling us anything. We tried to argue with them, but they were just not interested. They just don’t care about the people that stay there. You are there to give them your money in exchange for a lousy service.
The restaurant is amazing. Rather expensive but you get excellent soup for starters and the fish and meat are wonderful. About the rooms, they're spacious and comfortable. Maybe there aren't many bathrooms in comparison with the number of rooms, but the place wasn't full when I was there.

We have been in Iceland for 5 days now, and this was the BEST place we’ve stayed so far. The dinner was amazing, tomato soup for starters, and lamb and trout after, and with dessert of rubarb pie. Best meal of the trip! They also produce everything right there on the farm. From the butter to the lamb to the sweaters. They even make their own sweaters and sell them. (Best price I’ve seen for a pullover in all of Iceland so far 16, 500 kr. ) The whole place is absolutely charming. As a group of 5 we had two rooms. One upstairs in the main house and one outside and around the corner from the building. The room upstairs was super clean, the bed was so comfortable! There was a shared bathroom for the 3 rooms upstairs, but it was never a problem. The shower for the main house is in the basement but it is a private one with a latch on the door. Warm water and quiet. The one outside was spacious and had a bathroom/ shower to itself. Both were equally wonderful, clean, and comfortable. I wish we didn’t have to keep moving I would love to stay here another night. Free breakfast in the morning was a classic Icelandic spread of bread (Geyser made bread! ) meat, cheese, cereal, yogurt, and a waffle maker. They have a fancy coffee machine so you can have anything from black coffee to a mocha or latte. Staff was extremely helpful and kind. They let us split payments which was awesome. Overall this place was amazing, and made me feel like I had a night in an authentic Icelandic home.
