I have never been spoken to or treated so rudely by staff as I was in your hotel. Condescending and rude. Complete ruined our stay with their lack of help or even basic kindness. After going through a very traumatic time, my sister and I came away for a break. We have been charged over £200 for incidentals and this was debited from my sisters card without prior warning. You never know what people are going through in their life but your staff could not be kind or compassionate. Do not stay at this hotel as they obviously don’t like tourists other than to make money off them.

I had a very pleasant stay here. My room was clean and the hotel is located around everything. I would definitely stay here again. I travel a lot and have been to many hotels so I know quite a bit about all experiences and this time I had a good one.

Nice hotel, very well located.

Great location. Nice staff. Rooms a little bit too small and dark. Took us a while to find the light switch as the wall and switch are both black. And there’s only one bedside table. So I used the window sill as my night stand. And needs extra pillows. I sleep with 4 pillows.

Modern and clean very friendly and helpful staff, will be definitely a hotel to revisit and they give you a mobile phone that you can use outside of the hotel.

On the main street, so it's convenient, albeit a 4 block walk from the No. 10 Hlemmur bus stop, as buses from the airport or The Blue Lagoon, cannot drop you off at the front door. It's rated as a 4-star hotel… I'd give it 3.5, max. No closet. Tomorrow will be the first breakfast.

For such a nice hotel the stay was a bit disappointing. The staff is professional, albeit a bit terse at times. The room is nice but expected nicer amenities. Note: on the night before we left, the amenities were upgraded to L’Occtane but no body/hand lotion. The lighting is reasonable although it could be better, plenty of well placed non-universal outlets. No closet or dresser. Just a bar similar to what you find in lower quality hotels to hang clothes, and cubbies to put your belongings. Our room had a small sofa and desk. The breakfast was adequate but less that what you’d expect from better hotels. Internet connection was spotty. Disconnected frequently. Good speed when connected though.

This is a very nice hotel is a nice part of the main tourist area. Centrally located with a nice bar and a sitting area. Great breakfast. Quiet comfortable rooms. Close to restaurants and museums. Walking distance to waterfront. Pick up point for tours. Enjoyed our stay here. Not sure about the parking.

Room was great! Clean & comfy. A nice surprise was that they you give you a local cell phone with coverage to use while you're a guest.

Very nice hotel. Super comfortable beds and rooms were great. Reception was super helpful with any requests. Breakfast was not included and wasn't that great in my opinion.

Twin bed, room wasn't huge, but plenty of room for me to do what I need. Loved the bathroom and shower. Good location — max 15 minute walk to anything important. Everyone friendly.

They STOLE my laptop from the room. Unbelievable! And they refuse to do anything about it. What kind of hotel is this. Terrible. I asked to checked the cameras but they also refused to do that. BECAUSE they know that it was stolen by their stuff. Unbelievable!

Excellent location in the centre of town with lots of shops, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance. Good room size. Free iPhone provided for use. Gym available at no extra cost. Restaurant on ground floor is highly recommended; not only is the buffet breakfast offering a bountiful of choices, it also serves meals on a la cart menu prepared by chef attending to discerning interests and tastes. One of the best hotels and restaurants in the area.

I stayed at Alda Hotel for one night and had a beautiful room, great and easy to find location, and amazing customer service. With outstanding employees, such as Traci, they went above and beyond to ensure that my needs were met. Thank you so much for this experience and the hospitality that was given! 10/10 :D.

Wonderful place situated in a nice spot of Reykjavik surrounded by shops and places to eat. Staff was very friendly and was able to get us checked in right after our early morning flight because our room was available.

Just left yesterday after a 3 night stay. Awesome hotel! (we had the top floor ocean view — — construction cranes block the view, but not the hotel's fault) Elevators are quick, the beds are super comfy — the showers have great pressure. Highly recommend parking in the parking garage down the street (located at laugavegur 94). It is about $8 to $12 dollars a day depending on check-in/check out time. You can walk to almost anything in Reykjavik from the hotel. Ate dessert in the restaurant one night; it was really good! The front desk is super friendly and will print your boarding passes if you ask them to. Can't recommend this hotel enough.

We booked the honeymoon suite. We stayed here twice. The suite was amazing. The balcony is shared among 3 suites. The hotel is located in the main street. Service is great. Ruth and Michael Haephrati.

My trip to Iceland exceeded all my expectations. The Alda was simply the icing on the cake, check in was quick yet welcoming, smooth and informative. Our room was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and well decorated. Breakfast was delicious, buffet style with everything you needed to set you up for the day. The food from the hotel restaurant Brass was also delicious, staff were friendly and efficient. The Alda was always warm, welcoming, friendly and clean. The location is fabulous. You won't be disappointed!

Hi all. I want to say that the four-star hotel but with confidence I can say that the four with a big plus. Breakfast is same every day but everything is always fresh and very tasty (buffet). The staff is friendly.

Excellent location, central to bars, restaurants and shopping. The room was OK the heating unfortunately only very difficult to regulate. There were complimentary bathrobes and slippers. The sauna is small but usable all day, outside there is still a small whirlpool. There is a 10% discount in the restaurant if you are a guest. A new offer of the hotel was the use of a smartphone during the stay. We used it every day, cards FB etc. The staff is very attentive and helpful. Conclusion: At any time again!

If you're willing to spend the money, then this place is worth every penny. I would say the experience was lovely overall, the room was clean and very nice. The best part was the location! It was so nice to be able to walk to places like Nostra restaurant and some local bars. Super great!

Very nice hotel in town. Clean and friendly and shops and restaurants right outside the front door. The breakfasts were lovely and dinner at the hotel one night was excellent.

Excellent location, central to bars, restaurants and shopping. The hotel staff were helpful, the room was always warm they supplied complimentary robes and slippers. The breakfast was amazing, so many choices of food from the basic breakfast to make your own waffles. The meals at the attached restaurant were very tasty and filling and gave a 10% discount if staying at the hotel. A novel offer provided at the hotel was the use of a smart phone throughout your stay. We used it everyday, maps FB etc and erased it at the end of our stay. The staff informed us that it would return to default settings when we checked out. This hotel just ticked all the right boxes, would definitely stay there again.

Loved this hotel. Perfect City location, easy access to shops restaurants, bus stops. They provide you with a cell phone for use during your trip! The room is cute and well decorated in a Scandinavian style.

Really lovely modern decor. Rooms so clean you could eat off of the floor. Comfy beds, neat bathrooms and furniture. Wonderful, truly wonderful and delicious breakfast buffet.

Very nice hotel, perfect location. We had breakfast included and there was a good selection of eggs, smoked salmon, fruits, sausages, cereals, croissants and waffles. Staff very friendly and efficient — Olga in particular who was wonderful. Rooms were cleaned daily and were a good size with comfortable bed. There was an outdoor hot tub which was almost always empty. A hidden gem!

Great hotel in an amazing location. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and the food was great. The only problem we had was the duvet was two singles on a double bed and they were also way too hot to sleep under after a while. Would definitely good back and recommend to friends.

Completely unclear on numerous policies including completely inflexible check-in time, such that I arrived at 9:30am and was unable to get to my room until 2pm. Should have spent less on tacky decor and more on better customer service.

We stayed at four different places in Iceland during our 10-day stay and this one was second to the top. Rooms are nice. Staff is attentive. Good location. One point was subtracted due to the following: 1. No hotel parking. You need to find parking on the street, which is impossible. With bags and constant activities, this is extremely inconvenient. 2. You cannot regulate room temperature. It's regulated elsewhere. We visited during August and were extremely hot during nights. Only one small panel of the window opens a tiny but and it does not really do anything to bring the temperature inside the room down. 3. You can't get on Wi-Fi at all in the PM. They had to come and connect us to their private Wi-Fi as we could not access guest Wi-Fi that kept connective and disconnecting every 1 second (literally) so you could not access internet at all. Read some of my other iceland reviews for places to stay and go. Everyone told me Iceland is expensive, but you don't realize how much until you actually go. Expect to pay $15 for beer, $18-26 for soup, $24-36 for a salad, and $36-76 for a main course. Dinner for two adults and two kids with two kids meals and two beers runs between $210-320. Yeah. Lunch for the same family of four with two kids runs $110-$210 if you can find some cheep lunch place, like cafe or informal bistro. T-shirts are $36, sweatshirts are $72. Re packing, don't bring jeans or shorts or cotton socks, unless you are just chilling in the city.

Pricey, but very nice, new, and hip.

Downtown location means parking is an issue. The room was pleasant, modern and clean. The staff member was a bit rude when we checked out.

This hotel was clean and comfortable and pretty new. The furniture and interiors of the rooms are pretty basic, sort of IKEA style furniture. The location is Central and the prices are on the high side, definitely not a value. We felt that the front desk service could have been a bit warmer. I find it very difficult to understand why one of the more popular Business/tourist hotels in Reykjavík doesn't accept the American Express card. While they might be saving 1% or 2% in Amex merchant fees, those fees are getting pushed onto their customers by Visa and MasterCard which had a hefty foreign exchange and foreign transaction fees on to customers bills. So factor that into your analysis when you were looking at the hotels pricing. I would add that a very nice touch is that they give you a local cell phone with free local calls and data, very useful for exploring a new city in a foreign land. I stayed at one other hotel in Paris which does the same thing and it is really a very customer friendly amenity. 

Alda Hotel was a great stay. Their staff is extremely courteous and knowledgeable. We only had the breakfast there and it was delicious. The rooms are spacious and clean. I would definitely recommend the Alda Hotel to anyone staying in Reykjavik.

This hotel is awesome. The location is perfect in the city, and the hotel itself is very modern and clean. It is in a perfect place whether you are walking around the city or catching a tour out in the country. The lobby is a nice place to relax if you're waiting for a bus tour, and the reception staff is very helpful. I got to the hotel at 7am and they gave me my room early no questions asked. They also held my luggage if I was out of town on a tour. The rooms were very modern and nice. The bathroom made great use of a small space with a clever shower design. Checkout was a snap too. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is very nice, but also very affordable.

A relatively trendy spot, perfectly located on the main high street. The rooms are fitted with modern facilities. Great showers, TV with phone connectivity and a hair dryer, amongst other things. There's plenty of space in the rooms, enough to spread out a bit and not worry about moving around the room. On arrival, the hotel gives you an android smart phone (free of charge) for the duration of your stay… A welcome addition! With free 4G unlimited data this made finding the best places in town easy. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Spent the last night of our honeymoon at Alda. The staff had a complementary bottle of wine waiting for us in the room. Breakfast was delicious. The hot tub was HOT. Great location. Five thumbs up.

Great location in central Reykjavik. Lacks on-site parking for travellers exploring Iceland by car, although paid parking is available nearby (free after 6pm). The rooms are nicely decorated and spacious, although basic in terms of facilities. The public areas where attractive, and more money had likely been spent there. The attached bar, Barbers, was a nice space, although since it is run by a separate company you cannot transfer your bill to your hotel room. Giving each guest a smartphone during their stay is a unique and turned out to be particularly useful for us when we discovered we could not access the Wi-Fi in our room, and so needed to use the phone as a mobile hotspot. All in all, a nice design-led hotel, would suggest it's a 3* trying to be a 4* and for that reason is a bit expensive for what it is.

Great. Everything. The staff extremely polite and efficient, especially Iza. The place very nice and confortable and clean. The location, perfect. I absolutely recommend it.

Cool, classy hotel with a great little bar. Location is perfect, right on the main street close to lots of bars and shops. Breakfast was excellent (especially the waffles), room was comfy and clean and the staff were great.

The Alda Hotel was used as a meeting place on several occasions. It has a very modern reception with tasteful furnishings. The staff are very welcoming and we're helpful with information we needed for our visit.

Very nice hotel, and I would not hesitate torsdag recommend it to anyone under other circumstances. But when we were there they were building a new part of the hotel, and that was noisy! They worked from seven or right o' clock in the morning until eight in the evening, cutting steel, knocking and in every way making quite a lot of noise. They even worked on sundays. We were not informed by this when we booked which I think is a disaster when you pay what you at this hotel. Two out of the five rooms that we booked was given a complimentary bottle of wine for the noise.

Hotel conveniently located on the main shopping street with all links to restaurants and EInkaufsmöglichkeiten. Also with your own car park is very straightforward, in less than 100m is even a public parking lot.
The concept is very modern and welcoming. We are friendly, in addition to free Wi-Fi, there is a Samsung Smartphone with unlimited data volume and free local calls, perfect if you can use a private phone / want to.
The rooms are decorated with elaborate arrangement and are very chic and spacious. I'm lucky, there's even a glimpse of the sea from the 3rd floor!
Fitness room and sauna, as well as a super hot tub located on the 1st floor, great!
The breakfast is also fresh and local products.
We will be back, that's for sure.

Loved this place. Friendly, helpful staff and comfatable stylish rooms and lounge. Ideally situated on the main shopping street in Rekyavik with great restaurants close by amd all around. We went in December so the high street was very pretty and colourful. We were given a smart phone on check in to help us get around. This was a unexpected break from the norm as opposed to receiving a folded map page. We found it very useful. Great country and a great hotel. Highly recommend.

Modern and stylish boutique hotel located in the heart of Reykjavik within easy walking distance of central attractions. Guests are provided with smart phones during their stay, which I found to be a very useful feature. Hotel features smart lounge spaces and a nice bar. Breakfast selection was a basic cold buffet with limited hot options.
