Beautiful, stylish, comfortable, great value! Not the cheapest, but you get great location, service, and character well worth the price. Rooms large by European standards, with good overhead lights and bright reading lights on each side of the very comfortable bed. Enough power outlets, especially along the bedroom counter/desk, with a full sized electric kettle and iPod/iPhone powered speaker for music. Solid windows with full opening and top tilt options to let in air but preserving security. Square can be noisy at night but windows are modern and soundproof, so sound not a problem with windows shut. Bathroom very well thought out with full sized shower, glass enclosure and door that keep the water in (not always the case in European hotels), plenty of hot water with excellent pressure and two shower heads (overhead fixed and flexible handheld). Huge bonus is the headed towel drying rack over the toilet: heated with steam, your hand washed clothes dry overnight and are ready to wear in the morning! Breakfast very well done with plenty of protein and veggies: scrambled eggs, poached eggs with bacon in cups, yoghurt, sliced meats and cheese. Sliced fresh veggies and fresh whole fruit. Excellent assortment of local breads and rolls, all breads really tasty everywhere in Budapest. Free espresso, coffee, tea with breakfast brought to table by polite, friendly staff. Front desk staff great: helpful with local info, an iron or ironing board, making change, adjusting reservations. Totally professional and up to any Marriott/Hilton standard. The local environment is perfect: right off a square with plenty of shopping and restaurants yet not on the main tourist drag. Easy walking distance to both Elizabeth and Freedom bridges, where all sorts of trams and busses can be hopped on. Metro stop nearby: walk 2 blocks towards Elizabeth Bridge. Convenient market (like a 7-11) on other side of the building: turn right heading out of the hotel, turn right twice to pass around the Starbucks in the same building, and walk 1/2 block. Market on right side, sandwiches/drinks/chips/cookies for two: 2100 HUF (about $7). Hotel Rum was a great place to stay in and a perfect place to explore Budapest from!
